Charles A. Hawthorne is not just a billionaire but a royalty in Cherrywood.
And I’m Daisy Hazy Price, his longest running assistant and his lifeline, as per the media.
I equally hate and admire Charles’ dedication for the company and our small town.
So, when the media starts a witch hunt, right before he’s about to take over the family business, making nonsense allegations about his bachelor status, I’m ready to do everything for my boss, including marrying him on paper to get the press off his back.
But once we start living together, and sharing a room, the words of the marriage contract starts to blur. I get to see an unfamiliar side of the man I’ve known for the last four years.
It’s so easy to forget that this is temporary, especially when he acts like the most doting husband not just in public but in private.
But the more time we spend together, the more it becomes clear, how imperfect we are for each other.
Charles greatest fear is to be a Dad, while my biggest dream is to someday have my own big family.
What will my husband-turned boss do when the lines of my pregnancy test turn pink?

Charles and Daisy’s journey might have been semi predictable, but it was beautifully written, very well developed and the characters were amazing. It could have had some less pages, however it didn’t tire me.
Imperfect Match was cute, funny and had two really memorable and sweet MCs that do get a HEA and I was here for it!
Daisy and Charles were complete opposites but they fit together like two puzzle pieces. She accepted him, quirks and all and he saw her for the kind hearted, hard working, lovable woman she was. From the outside, they seemed imperfect but their hearts aligned and it was a beautiful love story.
I loved not only the MCs but all the side characters too! Charles' cousins & Daisy's girl gang! This story has humor, romance, great friendships, slow burn, OTT chemistry, amazing family bonds and a cute ending. Everything that I love and it was hard not to read this in one sitting, lol. Loved it but for one thing 🥹 the separation - although not drawn out in the book - was too much for me. I didn't expect Charles to bury his head in the sand for as long as he did. I loved that Daisy had all the support, love and affection from both sides of the family but I felt so sad that Charles was missing out on everything with her. The author does a beautiful job of showing both Charles and Daisy's emotional journey so it does give you closure I just wanted our Hero to be quicker on the uptake. Up until that blip in the love story, this was a straight 5 stars. I can definitely see myself re-reading this one again!
I also can't wait to read the next in the series. A spicy enemies to lovers with Ms. Jay's signature humor is bound to be a booming success!
The first 20ish% was hard to get through, it really dragged. Do people really actually care if a ceo is single or not? apparently unmarried ceos are grossly unqualified in fiction 🤷🏻♀️
It picks up after 20% when the fake engagement and marriage of convenience part really kicks in. Then it was all going well until the dreaded 3rd act breakup because she’s pregnant and he has mommy issues and acts like a complete pussy. 5 fuckin months they’re separated because he’s too scared to be a parent. He comes round some and looks after her from afar, cooking for her and reading pregnancy books etc until one day she’s being harassed by the paparazzi outside the hospital before an appointment and then he rides in and ‘saves her’ stays for the ultrasound, decides he wants to be a dad now. They go to his office to talk and boom back together. This happens at 97% and then the epilogue starts at 98%
I loved Daisy, really liked every side character. Intensely disliked Charles, like dude go to fuckin therapy or something. He didn’t deserve her.
h23 H29 Boss/employee Marriage of convenience Surprise pregnancy 3rd act break up 5 month separation Safe: zero owd Omd- her ex tries to cause issues for them the H shuts him down hard HFN Epilogue- their daughter is 2 months old and they’re happily together

Marriage of convenience will always be one of my favorite stories and this one did not disappoint. This is my first time reading this author’s work and will definitely not be the last!
Charles Hawthorne’s life revolves around his family’s company. When it appears his role within the company is threatened, he knew he could only trust one person: his assistant, Daisy.
A marriage will help Charles’ public image and Daisy will do everything in her power to help her boss. Once they are married, lines become blurred. I loved the chemistry between them. There was a bit of a slow burn which I loved. They really were a great team in and out of the office. I loved how Daisy never let Charles get away with anything.
Overall, I loved this story! I cannot wait to see what’s next in this series!
Charles is ready and eager to take over as CEO of Hawthorne Enterprises. But some of the members thinking that because his still single, his not ready. So, when his cousin suggests that he finds himself a wife, the only person he can think of is his assistant Daisy. She’s the only one who knows him and it will keep things strictly professional, right…
Daisy has been Charles’ assistant for four years. And she is loyal, dependable and he cant do without her. She’s the only one who stands up to him and takes no nonsense. And then he asks her to marry him…
At first, she says No, but then she figures it could be a win-win for both of them. This was supposed to be a professional arrangement, but the more personal time they spend together, the more Daisy discovers a totally different side to Charles.
I enjoyed the story from the start. I loved that Daisy was so good for Charles. She was sassy and fierce, and she didn’t let anyone walk all over her. Charles totally evolved throughout this whole story, and I loved how Daisy brought out a different side to him.
Filled with laughter, amazing chemistry and a sexual tension that will have you rooting for these two from the start… 😊
I'll admit, the book grew on me. The final 30% totally won me over and I just loved it. Charles was deeply scarred from his mother leaving. He never got close enough to people (except to some extent his family) and Daisy was the first one that really got through him. He was afraid but at the end the fear of losing her was way bigger than the fear of being with her. It wasn't easy for him to talk about feelings and love but for her he tried. He was the sweetest thing when it came to his wife. Daisy loved him too, so much but she wanted him to go to her when he was ready to be a family. She understood where he was coming from but she couldn't sacrifice her dreams for him. It wouldn't be fair to either of them. I loved them together, they were so cute and the way they loved each other was so beautiful
I loved the chemistry between Charles and Daisy! They were both so stubborn especially Charles. I liked how they complimented each other. I did feel this story went on a little longer then it needed but other then that it was good.
I love the story. And I love the characters. But I was annoyed by Daisy. I understand fear, and we all have them. But she sat in a dangerous area for one hour... HOPING she didn't die. Waiting for someone to save her. (girl get up and run)😒 Next, she had an attitude at the ceremony because she didn't get something that she never wanted in the first place. And then she plays the pity card. "Act like I'm cute, act like you're interested" when all along he was but she gave him standoffish vibes. So he stepped back. And then she was pissed because he didn't make advances🤦🏽♀️😒 this is why some men find it difficult. WHAT DO YOU WANT WOMAN😂😂 and the whole secret blip thing🙄🙄 she was annoying. Charles could have used some therapy. I'm glad his dad talked some since into him. everyone keeps telling Daisy that this man lives here and she's like... no.. did he say that. 😑😑 girl bye.

😊What i liked -
✔ Marriage Of Convenience/Boss-Employee/Touch Her Or Die/Secret Pregnancy/Small Town. ✔ I loved, loved and loved Daisy. Her comebacks were as hilarious as her personality. Tough Cookie. ✔ I loved how Charles was scary one minute and then suddenly sweet just because of her. I loved how she calmed him. ✔ The chemistry between the two was wow🤌. ✔ The side characters were all so good. ✔ Though he put her through sh*t, I still loved how he took care of her during everything.
🤔What could have been better-
✔ Too small to mention.

Thank you, Vikki Jay & The Author Agency, for a copy.
This book had potential to be a 4 but there were just a few things that didn't work for me. First, this book was way too long. There really was no reason for it and it would have helped keep my interest more if it was shorter. Second, some of the wording was really odd. I wish I had written down some examples so I could reference the quotes, but it almost felt like a robot wrote some of this - it was so awkwardly worded. And lastly, there were several references to things that didn't quite make sense or were never explained. I think it might be explained more in the previous series by the author, but it just was too distracting as a reference in this book. For example, how is everyone related in Charles' extended family. Because there are continuous romantic hints about his sister and someone he calls his 'cousin'. I am assuming they aren't blood relatives but don't throw that out there without an explanation because it just made me cringe. Also there is no background at all about Charles' past relationships - has he had any? It's kind of a big deal for him to be out of the public eye so some backstory on if and how he has dated before would have been nice.
Love this book. I’ve read everything this author has written and this is one of her best couples (altho Rose and Zander will forever be my favorite). Both main characters are stubborn, headstrong and so perfect together. They have to work hard to find their HEA. Other couples from previous books make an appearance which makes the story even more endearing. I cannot wait for the other Elixir bachelors to get their books.
DNF at 34%. This book and I were definitely an Imperfect Match. I'm not sure which of the main characters was the biggest idiot and decided not to bother finding out.
Imperfect Match by Vikki Jay ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ (4.5/5) | Spice Level: 🌶️🌶️ | Emotional damage: present & delicious
Okay, listen. Imperfect Match is the kind of book that sneaks up on you with its slow burn, makes you giggle at the banter, crush your chest with all the FEELINGS, and then stitches your heart back together just in time for the epilogue. Like?? I’m still recovering but also lowkey wanna reread it immediately.
Daisy and Charles are literal walking contradictions who somehow fit together so perfectly it hurts. She’s sunshine in human form, and he’s basically a walking “do not disturb” sign with extra anxiety, emotional trauma, and soft marshmallow insides. Their chemistry?? Unhinged. The slow-burn tension?? FED ME. But what really got me was the emotional depth. Like yes, I came for the fake marriage and surprise baby vibes, but I stayed because these characters were so real. Broken but soft. Scared but brave. Always trying.
Also, shoutout to Charles for being THAT man. The quiet, socially anxious, introverted MMC who still shows up even when he’s scared. The way he loved Daisy’s dad??? I SOBBED. The growth arc he went through?? Like pls, take my whole heart. Yes, he was dumb during the separation era, but you know what? He bounced back and actually put in the work. He earned it.
And Daisy?? Girlboss energy with a fragile core. I love how she didn’t just crumble when everything fell apart. She held her ground, grieved, grew, and still gave Charles a second chance when he earned it. She deserved that love—and Charles finally showed up like a man who knew it.
Final verdict? A beautifully messy, sweet, and funny slow burn romance with the perfect dose of angst and growth. Add this to your TBR immediately. I’ll be emotionally unavailable until Ray & Willow’s book drops.
⸻
⚠️ Trigger Warnings: • Childhood trauma • Parent abandonment • Alzheimer’s (side character) • Death of a parent (past) • Surprise pregnancy • Mental health (MMC has anxiety) • Mention of cheating (not between MCs)
⸻
💘 Tropes & Themes: • Marriage of Convenience • Grumpy x Sunshine • Workplace Romance • Enemies to lovers (light) • Found Family • Protective MMC (“mess with her and I’ll end you” vibes) • Witty banter & emotional depth • Separation (5 months, celibate) • Surprise Pregnancy • No third-act breakup toxicity, just growth • Swoonworthy grovel
⸻
Final thoughts: If you love a romance that’s soft and spicy, funny and raw, with characters who actually evolve and love each other better by the end—Imperfect Match is your new obsession. It’s the perfect blend of banter, tears, and swoony protective energy. Charles is officially in my soft boy hall of fame. 💍🥹🫶
Charles is definitely one of those toasty marshmallows I love! He was such a complex character and at first I wasn’t sure what was really going on with him. Clearly paranoid, and antisocial to the extreme but I couldn’t really figure him out. But as Daisy and his relationship grew stronger his walls came down and man was there trauma for this man. It was so much pain and he was definitely dealing with a lot. But also for Daisy she was also very much dealing with a huge amount of pain with her dad and his condition, her horrid ex, and her feelings that she just couldn’t deny. When he finds out more about her and her story I cried. He realizes he put his foot in it and really goes above and beyond to not only apologize and fix it but to change his behavior.
Despite the underlying sadness woven beautifully throughout the book the banter and dialogue of the characters was hilarious. I had several moments of laugh out loud giggles. Despite the clear anxiety Charles has he shows up in the situations that cause it without a thought for himself. I really loved his character and felt deeply for all he was going through. Even when stuff wasn’t looking good for him and he was being stupid I could see where he was coming from and only felt sadness not anger at him.
Seeing his protective and possessive nature only made me like him more. The way he cared not only for her but her ill father was heartwarming. And the ending half of the book I went from happy tears to sad to happy. It was a very cathartic reading experience. I really loved the roller coaster of emotions that I had throughout the story! The third act break up was so gut wrenching because they clearly love each but it needed to happen for the growth to come. It was full of angst, pining, and swooning moments that just gave the story an epic ending that will have you crying in the best ways as it puts you back together. I cannot wait for Ray and Willows book! I hope she will do more of the characters from this story I’m not ready to leave.
💍 Marriage of Convenience 💍 Grumpy Sunshine 💍 Work Place Romance 💍 My Dear Wife 💍 Mess with her and I’ll end you 💍 Surprise pregnancy 💍 Angsty 💍 Witty sexy banter
As an avid reader of romance novels, I recently had the pleasure of diving into Vikki Jay's Imperfect Match. From the moment I picked up the book, I was drawn into the captivating story of a billionaire and a marriage of convenience that takes an unexpected turn.
One of the things I loved most about Imperfect Match was the way Jay crafted her characters. They felt relatable and authentic, navigating the complexities of their feelings amidst societal pressures. The chemistry between the protagonists was palpable, and I found myself eagerly turning the pages to see how their relationship would unfold. The plot was engaging and full of unexpected twists, keeping me invested until the very end.
What truly sets Imperfect Match apart is its emotional depth. Jay has a remarkable ability to evoke strong emotions through her writing, and this book is no exception. The characters face personal struggles and insecurities that resonated with me on a deep level. The emotional layers added to the romance, making it a story that stayed with me long after I finished reading.
One of the things I appreciate about Jay's writing is her ability to strike a perfect balance between pacing and accessibility. Imperfect Match never felt rushed, allowing me to savor both the romantic and dramatic moments. The prose was easy to follow, making it an enjoyable read for someone like me who enjoys romance novels but also appreciates a well-crafted story.
What I found particularly intriguing about Imperfect Match was its exploration of coincidences leading to significant life changes. This theme is a recurring one in Jay's works, and it adds a unique twist to the narrative. As I read, I couldn't help but reflect on how unexpected encounters can shape our lives, and the blend of fate and choice in the characters' relationship offered a thought-provoking layer to the romance.
Overall, this is a must-read for anyone who enjoys romance novels with depth and substance. The engaging characters, emotional resonance, and thoughtful exploration of love and fate make it a standout in the genre. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a captivating and memorable reading experience.
♡︎ Charles Hawthorne was in desperate need of a wife, and there was only one person he deemed trustworthy enough to fill that role - his executive assistant, the cheerful Daisy Price.
♥︎ I must admit, the dialogue in this book was absolutely hilarious. Daisy's vibrant personality simply charmed me, and I assure you, my opinion is free from any bias since we share the same name. She was such a lovable character, while Charles, on the other hand, was pure grumpiness, and oddly enough, I found myself adoring him for it. He was a true introvert and battled with anxiety due to a childhood incident and an absent mother. These main characters were likable, which was definitely a plus for me.
♥︎ Though Charles had always cared for Daisy in a settled manner, their entrance into a marriage of convenience shook things up in the most unexpected way. Charles became increasingly protective of Daisy and gradually realized he might be falling head over heels for her, and I have to confess that I was swooning right alongside him. Notably, Charles also lent a helping hand in taking care of Daisy's father, a gesture that made Daisy see her boss-turned-husband in a different light - perhaps he had a gentle soul after all.
♥︎ Their relationship was heartwarming and had just the right amount of spice. To add a dash of reality, there was a necessary third-act breakup that served as a wake-up call for Charles. Personally, I found this aspect of the story angsty, something I love. I cannot wait to read more of Vikki Jay's works.
✧All in all, if you enjoy grumpy sunshine and the marriage of convenience trope, you definitely need to check this one out.
Oh my goodness, Imperfect Match by Vikki Jay had me on an emotional rollercoaster from start to finish! I laughed, I cried, and at one point, I was literally biting my nails in anticipation! Charles A. Hawthorne isn’t just a billionaire; he’s the very definition of royalty in Cherrywood. And then there’s Daisy Hazy Price—his longest-running assistant, his lifeline, and, oh yeah, his wife… well, on paper at least! From the very start, I was hooked. The media’s witch hunt forces Daisy to step up in the most unexpected way, and what starts as a fake marriage quickly spirals into something much more. Living together, sharing a room—suddenly the boundaries of their marriage contract blur, and I got to see sides of Charles that left me swooning! Who knew he could be so doting, so perfect, both in public and behind closed doors? But oh, the twist! Just when I thought these two were on their way to a happily-ever-after, reality smacks them hard. Daisy dreams of a big, happy family, but Charles? His biggest fear is being a dad. And then... those two little pink lines. I was on the edge of my seat wondering, what will this boss-turned-husband do next?Imperfect Match is absolutely amazing—equal parts fun, heartfelt, and nerve-wracking in the best possible way. Vikki Jay has truly outdone herself with this one!#ImperfectMatch #VikkiJay #FakeMarriage #BillionaireRomance #MustRead #BookReview #RomanceReads #Bookstagram #ContemporaryRomance #RomanceBooks #BookLove
Vikki Jay has kicked off her new series, ‘Elixir Bachelor Billionaires’, with a bang, and ‘Imperfect Match’ is nothing short of a brilliant start. This billionaire, marriage-of-convenience story between Daisy and Charles is a captivating read that keeps you turning the pages from start to finish. The chemistry between Daisy, Charles's indispensable executive assistant, and Charles himself is electric, sparking with great banter and light-hearted bickering that adds a delightful charm to their dynamic.
The story takes a sizzling turn when Charles finds himself in need of a wife, and an unexpected opportunity presents itself in the form of Daisy. With her own set of challenges, particularly her father's situation, Daisy agrees, making it a win-win for both. But Vikki Jay doesn’t stop at just convenience; she expertly weaves in deep emotions, insecurities, and a meddling ex-boyfriend to create a story that’s rich and layered.
What truly stands out is watching Charles evolve—stepping out of his shell and becoming vulnerable, all thanks to Daisy's sassy and spirited nature. Jay’s ability to blend humor, heat, and heartfelt moments makes this a standout read. If you're a fan of billionaire romances with sharp dialogue and undeniable chemistry, ‘Imperfect Match’ is a must-read. This book has everything you need: a compelling storyline, well-crafted characters, and the perfect mix of tension, banter tenderness and sizzling passion. I loved every moment of watching Daisy and Charles’s journey unfold!
First of all, I love this cover! I’m not sure what it is.. but it just grabbed my attention right from the first moment I saw it. And after reading several Vikki Jay novels, I knew I wanted to read more books by this author. So I dived right into ‘Imperfect Match’ when I got the chance.
In ‘Imperfect Match’ we read the story of Charles and Daisy. Charles is a billionaire workaholic, and to the outside world he is kind of rude and harsh. Daisy has been working as his assistant for the last few years and she is the one person that Charles seems to tolerate. Even if it’s just a little. But then Charles’s plan to take over the family business comes in danger, and Daisy is determined to help her boss out. Even if that means to marry him. Although it starts as a business deal, being married to Charles changes everything. Soon Daisy seems a very different side to the ruthless business man.
‘Imperfect Match’ was a fun, romantic read with a lot of elements I love. The chemistry between Charles and Daisy is great and I was rooting for them from the start. I loved their banters. And I especially loved how Daisy stood up to Charles. I wish I had some of her courage honestly. LOL!
The book was a bit to long though. And it dragged a bit honestly. Especially since everything happened so fast, but then it would just go on and on. And in the end I also found Charles his character changes a bit to abrupt. It didn’t feel as believable. The fun and interesting characters still made this a lovely read though.
Buckle up, because this ride is full of sparks and witty repartee! 🚀✨
The playful banter and chemistry between Charles and Daisy is electric! He might ask her to beg, but guess who ends up begging first instead? ⚡️🔥
Charles, the brooding billionaire in dark suits, and Daisy, colorful, smart, and a master of playful banter, had me captivated from the start.
Charles goes from "Boss aka Charles Asshole Hawthorne" to "Husband aka Charles Adorable Hawthorne."
Their sharp dialogue, steamy moments, and sizzling tension can’t be measured by a thermometer. 🤭🌡

My small indulgence in life is a book that leaves you feeling all mushy and gooey inside, smiling while you’re reading, especially after a dark read. Imperfect Match delivers on that front perfectly. 🥰
Vikki Jay has crafted a tale with depth, charm, and a delightful blend of wit and emotion.
For those who crave a possessive "Touch her or die" hero and a passion that burns bright, Charles A. Hawthorne is your man.
Believe me, you might need a cozy spot to swoon and a glass of wine! 🍷📖
Imperfect Match by Vikki Jay is perfect in every way. Charles and Daisy sizzle their way right into my heart with their love/hate relationship.
Charles is the perfect imperfect billionaire with quirks and issues that make you fall for him with ease. He's a grumpy, no nonsense type of guy with no intentions of ever falling in love. He is fine with his rigid schedule and daily routines. His sole purpose is to become CEO of his family's company. Though he is aloof and stern, he hides a loyal, possessive, protective personality that he only shows to a handful of people. He hates socializing, which I can totally relate to, and avoids the public like the plague.
Daisy is the perfect assistant to Charles. For four years, she's proven to be loyal, competent, dependable and his right hand woman. She's been his shadow who anticipates his every need. He searches for her at every function and social gathering to feel secure and safe.
He considers his vulnerability as a weakness and downfall and prevents him from envisioning a happy future. But the town of Cherrywood and the company board have other ideas and Daisy fit the bill.
This arranged marriage, billionaire, workplace romance has a plot that carries through the book. There's that irresistible tension and pull between the two that makes their chemistry sizzle.
Charles, I see you. You have it BAD for Daisy. It’s clear to me from the very start of this book. You’re pining for her. Everything that you think is annoying and bothersome. You’d miss immensely if she stopped. Pfft it’s no wonder you don’t go out with anyone else. Why when your perfect girl is literally right in front of you. Even if she’s as clueless as can be. I love how protective you are about everything. The board questioning your abilities as a family man may be the best thing that’s ever happened to you.
Daisy, my sweet girl. You’re taking on the whole world. Charles is a softy that would do anything for you. You two are just two stubborn to see it. This match was perfect. Especially when it eases the stress you have for your dad.
These two are clueless how madly in love they are. Both of them are to darn stubborn to listen to what they want with one another. Growing up in vastly different homes, they have to learn to stop and listen to their hearts. They fell in love without even realizing it. Anything else would be a walk in the park.
Spoilers!
I hate that there was a gap where Charles got his head up his butt. I’m so happy to see him get past his past troubles. It’s a logical response after what he’s been through. He missed a good chunk of her pregnancy because of it. Thankfully he learned from his mistake and made up for it. I love a good redemption arc. I just wish I got more of them happy. I’ll have to wait for the next book. Ray’s in trouble with Willow. I’m here for it!
I loved this book. I stayed up late past my bedtime to read it. So worth it. I can’t say enough good things about this book.
Charles is known as the prince of Cherrywood and a billionaire. He gets targeted by the media before becoming CEO of his family's company. Daisy is his assistant of 4 years, colorful, not the luckiest in the relationship department, and spunky. She is the only woman who knows Charles so well and puts him in his place. Tslk about a firecracker, Daisy doesn't and won't back down from Charles or his grumpy attitude. He has always been attracted to her somehow. He offers her whatever she needs. All she has to do is marry him so he can secure the CEO position. Daisy discovers Charles has this whole other side of him that is loving and protective of his family and now her. She finds out she is pregnant and knows he is scared from his birth mother abandonment. She gives him space without jeopardizing his goals. She waits for him to come around. The read was full of threats from not only the media, uncertainty of the future, a parents unfortunate health issues, but also an ex that can't get it that Daisy has moved on. I loved the book. I gave it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. Vikki Jay wrote an amazing book and captured the meaning of marriage of convince to falling for each other and hard. 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶 Charles and Daisy physical attraction could not go unnoticed throughout the book. Thank Vikki Jay.
Charles is a grumpy boss. He prefers to a be around his family and very few other people. He doesn’t like crowds or the media. However, he is up for a very big job and since he keeps his life very private. The board doesn’t know if he will be a good fit even though it’s his family’s company. They want to see him involved in a relationship something to show he is somewhat human. Now Daisy is his secretary and she’s a little out there with her style and colors. She drives him crazy with pink post it’s and pink napkins. She is trying to inject color into his gray world. They co-exist and seem to get along well in the office. However, when the idea is proposed to him that he get married for convenience the only person he will consider is Daisy. Now Daisy may be flattered but is clearly not interested she’s just getting out of bad relationship. However, she agrees and suddenly this relationship is on different footing. They are seeing each other in a different light. Charles is getting possessive of her and protective and Daisy is falling in love with her grumpy boss/husband. Very cute story. I actually liked Charles and didn’t perceive him as a grump just very particular. This is definitely a slow burn but the story was enjoyable.
