I read books 1 and 2 back to back and as they are so short and have the ame story arch I'm going to review them together.
This was an adventure story where two characters team up together to track down another character and that is the main plot point. I wish we got to see more of the balloons as they seemed so interesting and definitely could have been looked at in more detail, unfortunately that is something that I find myself saying about every aspect of these books, they felt very rushed and like there needed to be more on the page for me to care. I didn't care about any of our characters and even the main characters were not very distinctive. Character introductions felt very rushed and quick and I can tell that for myself as I can't even remember the name of the dog! THE DOG!!!
I thought the world we were in seemed very cool and the map at the start was huge and we only explored a very small area of it so I do think it could be expanded into a longer series.
I had fun reading these and I'm glad i tried the adventure genre in graphic novel format.
This series was spectacular. The art was kinetic: it looked unlike anything else. The narrative was good… there were a few moments where the dialogue didn’t quite connect and we could have been given a little more character inspiration and development… but ultimately, it’s just nice to have comic writers treat their readers like intelligent people who can make inferences.. especially from some phenomenal art.
The setting's worldbuilding fascinates me and makes me want to read more even if the ending of the story itself did not surprise or impress me all that much. This comic is still a wonderful accomplishment and the artwork makes it all worth it
