Deemed a “good-for-nothing” for his low level and lack of a god-given Gift, Allen is stripped of his noble status and banished from the Duchy of Westfeldt. But Allen has a he was a great hero in a previous life, and he’s thrilled for the chance to finally live the way he pleases! His drama-free existence, however, is soon interrupted by a desperate encounter with his ex-fiancée. As a former hero who still possesses the incredible powers from his past life, Allen can’t ignore someone in need—no matter how much he might like to! And so begins the new heroic saga our former hero never wanted!
Gah! This is SOOOOO BORING. And the MC SUCKS as a hero! He wants to completely ignore any and all responsibilities that come with his powers.
HELLO?!?! Have you not seen one of the BILLION origin stories of Spider-Man?!? “With great power comes great responsibility!”
I DNF’d at 43%. If he had taken the reins of his household at an earlier age, much of the misery his family was responsible for wouldn’t have happened in the first place.
Also, it seems like his family is just bad and stupid to move the plot along. I highly doubt people THAT dumb and evil would survive long in the cutthroat world of aristocrats. Re: The Medici, Game of Thrones, nuff’ said.
1, this book was really disappointing and the hero wasn’t much of one (yes I know he didn’t want to BE a hero, but tough noogies, your family is rotten, fix it!), stars.

This is a very average story. The (former) hero is extremely overpowered (not unlike many similar stories). There are several supporting characters who are at least somewhat interesting. The main character is far too nonchalant about most everything. The principal villains (who I saw another reviewer refer to as Evil and Evil, Jr., which is about right) are like a pair of bad actors who are terribly hamming it up in every scene they are in. They are caricatures of rich bad guys in many of the worst ways. Overall this light novel is not terrible, but there are a lot of better choices to read that feature similar tropes and plot.
I liked the idea of someone with great talent and ability thinking he could just slide through life being boring. And then having the gods screw with him. That and the fact he is who he is
