A young human woman, intent on dethroning a tyrant. A loyal dragon companion, dedicated to her cause. And a heroic adventure that will challenge their unwavering courage . . .
Jahrra has been in hiding her entire life, but the time for secrecy has come to an end as the threat of war draws near. Before they can face the Crimson King, however, she and Jaax must seek the aid of the legendary ice dragons of the north.

With Lidien behind them, Jahrra and Jaax begin a perilous journey through the mountains, where both adversary and ally will follow. But their trust in others must be bartered carefully, for the Tyrant's influence stretches far and wide.

Even if they do reach Nimbronia, their troubles may not be over. If the king of the ice dragons cannot be convinced to join their cause, then their fate - and the fate of Ethöes - may very well be sealed in sorrow and defeat.

Imagine a world as rich as Tolkien's Middle-earth, a plot as multifaceted as Harry Potter, an adventure that rivals Eragon, and characters as memorable and endearing as the Wings of Fire dragons. The Legend of Oescienne is an epic fantasy dragon adventure series beloved by readers of all ages! One-click to start reading now.

So far this has been my favorite book in this series. More action, Jahrra and Jaax learn to respect each other and trust more. New friends become part of the team. I'm just glad that all 5 books were out so that I haven't had to wait!

Survival and Gathering Forces against the Crimson King

As the dragon Jaax and the young human girl, Jaarha, flee from Lideon, closely followed by a band of the Crimson King's army, they are joined by the Elf Ellyses, who harbors secrets Jaax and he must keep from Jaarha. Along the way, they take on another companion, a small half-man, half-fox creature, a limbet, who shows his loyalty and trustworthiness several times along the way. Once in Carhdyarein, Jaarha makes friends with the Prince of this kingdom, and the Captain of the guards, who spars with her, helping her to hone her swordsmanship. After Jaax fails to get support from the couple reining as monarks, and a ball is to be held, Dervit, the limbet, learns they are being deceived, and Jaax prepared their little group to flee in the night, before the Red Crimson soldiers can capture them. Without giving away the details, they manage to flee to Nimbronia, where Jaax hopes to get the support of the Creecemind dragons to help their seeming depleting Coalition Forces. After fighting their way into the city, the reining King and Queen refuse to give support to the Coalition. Although at times, the story seems to drag, one finds herself wanting to see the final outcome, as the author develops the story skillfully, and I found myself growling close to the characters, and and wanting them to defeat the evil Crimson King. I highly recommend this series for those who love stories of dragons, elves, beautiful cities, and defeating evil in all its forms. Mostly, I enjoy reading such adventures and detailed descriptions of places and peoples, using noble language, not muddied with crudeness, and obsenities, making this a story fit for those of teenage to those not so young.

Awesome series

This series of books is so well written. The storyline and the characters all come to life in this epic story. It unfolds like a movie with each page that's turned. I can't put the books down.

Of all the previous books, I'm glad we are finally getting to see some action and see Jahrra put some of her training to the test. While reading these stories it's easy to forget that Jahrra herself is only just coming into adulthood (she's 18), so when reading this book we get to see more of Jahrra coming into herself and dealing with issues like first crushes and challenging an authority figure (parent/guardian). She also understands that people will do whatever necessary to get the power they believe they deserve, but she's never actually experienced betrayal until now.
Jahrra has really grown into herself more and more has her journey proceeds closer to gathering allies. She's really starting to understand her importance and put her trust more in her guardian to try and build a successful friendship.

Once Jahrra and her little group finally reach Nimbronia will they finally be able to convince the Ice King to join their cause?

I eagerly await book five!

Jahrra's story continues to gain complexities, and yet, with each comes clearer understanding of characters and realms of Ethos that had been spoken of but not formally introduced.

I am hooked! I have thoroughly enjoyed immersing myself in the world of Ethos. Dragons that hold court. Elves with dark secrets. Universities.

Just read the whole series!

Finally to Nimbromia !

Jahrra and her companions finally make it to the city of ice only to get an icey reception. Hardship, heartache and loss have accompanied them for their entire journey. It has been difficult but they still manage to hold on to a glimmer of hope. Will the king help them in their fight against the Crimson king and his evil horde?

A little more drawn out

This book has the author stretching events out a bit but still an enjoyable read. I found myself putting this book down more often or breezing thru sentences due to the authors attempt to build drama. I'm still ready for the next book though! Bring on book five!!

I am really enjoying this series. Cannot wait for the next and final book in this series. This book has been my favorite so far and it has done an excellent job of setting up the next book. There is a lot of action in this series as well as good fleshing out of characters.
I have a dragon statute that I have now named Jaax!!

Awesome book 4

On man! What a ride! Intrigue, danger, lies and truths - there is so much to this book that it's impossible to talk about it all. Just read it! I don't see how one could stop after reading just one or two books of this series.

The Ascending

I have read all that Jenna Elizabeth Johnson has written and can never wait for the next book. She has a very descriptive way of writing that makes you feel like you are there. I know it takes time to write, but I'm anxiously awaiting the next book. Thank you for the entertainment that you have provided to me. I have been incapacitated lately and my Kindle is my life line. Please don't keep me waiting too long for another book, either Faeborne or the Legend of Oescienne.

Great story

The Ascending: This book draws you in, you become invested in the characters. The premise for the series is different, the characters unique, the story telling first rate. This is the first new book in this series in a while. I am going to re-read the whole series again, it is that good. Thank you Jenna, for this series and for the Other world series. I am totally enjoying them both and looking forward to the next installments. No spoilers. If you like a great story by a great storyteller read these books.
