Brittany is a teacher in a small town who has been trying to conceive for over a year and is about ready to give up. Then one of her students invites her to spend Christmas with her and her single dad. What starts off as innocently watching a Christmas movie on the couch after her student is asleep turns into something much more.
Joe Powell is the single father of one of her students, he's not looking for love, but when his daughter invites the teacher who lives two doors down to come over for the holidays, who is he to say no and leave her lonely? After she falls asleep on his couch watching a Christmas movie, he invites her to stay so neither one of them has to go to bed lonely.
I wasn’t expecting this at all when I started, but I was excited because I loved the narrator from the previous book.
What begins as a neighbor helping out turns into so much more. I love single dad romances because it’s not something we talk about enough. Being a single parent is hard, no matter what, and as someone whose best friend is a single dad, I really appreciated the representation.
Watching the MMC navigate love while making sure his daughter was always comfortable felt real. I loved how he slowly introduced PDA and conversations about dating so she never felt pushed aside. The flirty, slightly cringe moments between Brittany and Joe felt realistic, especially around a child. Nothing felt forced, and they actually communicated instead of assuming.
I also loved the relationship they both had with Elena and that Joe never let her feel his stress. Overall, a solid, quick read and listen that made my morning commute better.
A single dad, a teacher, and a Christmas that changes everything.
Brittany’s life runs on small joys and quiet heartbreak. A kindergarten teacher in a small town, she hides her longing for a child of her own. When a friend announces a surprise pregnancy, her hope fractures again. The bright spot in her days is Elena, the lively girl in her class, and Elena’s dad, Joe, her guarded neighbor.
Joe’s world is simple: work hard, raise his daughter, keep things steady. Love isn’t part of the plan. But when Brittany keeps stepping into their evenings, sharing dinners and warmth, he starts to see what he’s been missing. One snowy night, their friendship shifts into something more. He’s protective, steady, and a little possessive in the way that makes her melt, and when she calls him Daddy, everything changes.
As Christmas fades into the new year, comfort turns to connection, and connection to love. Their nights grow hotter, their trust stronger, and their walls fall away. Joe’s control meets Brittany’s need to surrender, their tenderness blurring into heat as they learn what it means to be seen and wanted.
They build a home filled with warmth, laughter, and steamy special moments together. Brittany and Joe find a life together they never thought they’d have.
A steamy, small town, single dad, wolf shifter, neighbors to lovers, Christmastime romance exploring longing, healing, love, family, trust, and belonging. It’s about two lonely souls finding courage in each other and building the family they both needed.
The Elevator Pitch: A heartfelt and steamy small town shifter romance where a lonely teacher and a devoted single dad discover love, family, and healing during the holidays. Their connection burns hot but stays grounded in tenderness, trust, and emotional growth. Their story blends warmth, desire, and the magic of finding family under the glow of Christmas lights.
Audio: Narrator Anthony Williams Jr. delivers a strong performance that fits the warmth and tone of this shifter romance. His deep, steady voice suits Joe’s grounded nature and the story’s pacing. While voices aren’t highly varied, the delivery feels sincere, clear, and easy to listen to.
Small town kindergarten teacher Brittany (h), who has struggled with infertility, is both happy and heartbroken by the news of a close friend's pregnancy. Brittany finds comfort in her interactions with Elena, a student in her class, and Elena's wolf shifter father, Joe (H), who live in the same apartment building that she does. Joe and Elena become increasingly involved in Brittany's life as they spend more time together and she finds her relationship with Joe moves from friendship to romance. When Brittany spends the Christmas holidays with Joe and Elena, things heat up when the little one heads off to bed and given that a shifter is just what the doctor recommended, Brittany may get just what she wanted. Loved how supportive and caring Joe was of Brittany when she needed him most, and how hard he worked to make sure Elena was happy and looked after too. Sweet shifter romantic quickie with a side of heat, a little angst, and the family that Brittany wanted.
Brittany is desperate to have a baby and after three years of it not happening, is still yearning for a child. Joe and his daughter are her neighbors and because Elena is in her kindergarten class he occasionally asks Brittany to watch her when he gets tied up at work. When Elena finds out that her teacher is going to be all alone for the holidays, she tells her dad that they need her to spend the holidays with them. With too much of the “good kind” of eggnog and her crazy sex drive that comes during ovulation she is a goner around the sexy wolf shifter. It is a short, quick insta-love story with a lot of steamy scenes. The book covers all bases very quickly but in a thorough manner. Enjoyable couple, cute and smart little girl and an enjoyable storyline makes it a good read. "This is my honest review of an advanced reader copy."
Shifting Hearts: A Small Town Christmas Wolf Shifter romance. I absolutely love a good wolf shifter romance story. I thought Shifting Hearts to be a charming and a page-turning story. Now I’m not going to give out any details about the story because I don’t wanna spoil the book for future readers. I thought Shifting Hearts to be an enjoyable and entertaining wolf shifter romance. Also, I thought the author did an amazing job of explaining the story of Shifting Hearts. I would most definitely recommend this book to others who enjoy a good wolf shifter romance story.

This little short could have benefited from at least a few sentences of context. Apparently shifters are just a normal, known part of this universe. Enough that doctors apparently casually prescribe sex with shifters to get pregnant? Was a little jarring to learn halfway through.
Unfortunately there were a lot of editing errors (eggnog and egg nog, if instead of of, mead instead of meal, etc.) that pulled me out of the story. And sadly the smut was pretty sub-par.
It was a cute concept with an even cuter cover, but this fell flat for me.
3rd POV past, wolf shifter, single dad, knotting, breeding
Brittany wants nothing more than to have a baby but she just can’t seem to get pregnant. Will Joe, a wolf shifter, and the father of one of her favorite students, be able to help her conceive? Watch this cute Christmas romance bud and blossom. Just as a side note, this is a 🌶️🌶️🌶️ story with graphic scenes, complete with knotting and a breeding kink.
For a short novel about spicy shifters, this was adorable!!! The characters are so wholesome, and I love the way the wolf-side was included in Joe's internal dialogue.
So many errors in the first couple of short chapters that I had to give up. It seems as though it may have been written by AI, performed by AI and not checked by anyone before uploading. Really disappointing.

I love this story. I feel like there can be so much added on to this. It's a good start. This book is a part of a series. I don't know much about the other books, but I did love this one.

Needed more character building and relationship building between the characters, too many grammatical errors for a short novella. Won’t read again. Nice idea but poor execution .. 🤷♀️
