Annalise Finch and Brinley Adams have been together for over seven years and are still very much in love. That doesn’t mean things are perfect though. The majority of their relationship has taken place while Brinley completed medical school and a residency, which has caused them to lose some of the spark they had in the beginning. What better way to bring back that spark than to make a sex bucket list?
Once they start completing items on their list, it doesn’t take long for them to realize the spark was actually there all along.
This 43k novella is the sequel to “A Lesbian’s Guide to Women.”
Erica Lee finished writing her first book, Dear Santa: I’m Gay, in December 2016. Erica currently lives in Pennsylvania with her wife, dog, chinchilla, and bunny. She spends her days working as an optometrist and her nights snuggled up on the couch with her furry family, binging on netflix or youtube.
Librarian note: There is more than one author in the Goodreads database with this name.
For a short book, this sure packs a punch! The spice, holy. Hell!! 🫠🥵 I thought the threesome would bother me, simply because they’re a well established couple and I’ve not read that in a book before. And reading book one I absolutely fell in love with this couple. That being said, it was sooo good! I shall say no more 🤣🤣 just read it! Or even better, listen to it. Lori Prince (as expected) did an amazing job of the audiobook! There was only one thing on the list I wasn’t a fan of but that was a purely personal thing 😂 so I’ll leave that judgement up to everyone else!
Written in third person with 2x POV’s. Book Two, so definitely read book one first. Established couple. Erotic romance. 15x Spicy scenes.
That was so much fun to read! I was laughing out loud at times. I am happy that the chemistry is still thriving. I loved the grandmother and best friend. Erica Lee did a fabulous job on this sequel. I look forward to more books by her in the future.
Annalise and Brinkley's story continues. Brinley has been working hard to become a doctor. First it was school, now her residency. Their sex life has suffered, but not their love for one another. When Brinley comes up with a list similar to the syllabus when they first got together. What a fun ride it is to go through their list with them! Definitely 5 stars!
2⭐️ Ergh I hate giving less than positive reviews, but for me this was an effort to finish. It felt like a checklist of (lack lustre) sex scenes that hadn’t been appropriate for book #1, loosely bound by a flaccid plot (if you can even call it that). But hey, I wasn’t a big fan of the first book and read this more to “finish the story”, so I’m sure plenty of people will enjoy this sequel more than me.
The follow-up of one of my favorite books, "A lesbians guide to women" by my personal favorite author, Erica Lee. After reading the first one in this installment and having just before this one finished another Erica Lee book, that being her most recent one, Racing Hearts, this one just had to come next. Is it a cool sequel? Here we go...
* Story, Spoilers * We all know and love Annalise and Brinley from "A lesbian's guide to women" which, in my opinion, is kinda mendatory to read first, because it builds up on the first book. Annalise and Brinley have been living together for a pretty long amount of time. Due to Brinley getting into Medical School and Annalise being the manager of her apartment block, the one thing that is missing in their life is some good ol' spice. So Brinley comes up with a great idea; she has 1 month of free time after being done with medical school and before she starts her official career as a doctor. Given that the love between her and Annalise started off with a "Sex Syllabus" she proposes the idea of a "Fucket List" which is a list of 10 different things they can do to spice up their sex life. These include, just to name a few, having sex in a public place, wearing vibrating underwear, making a sex tape together and so on. And that is pretty much it. As expected from an Erica Lee book with a already established couple, they tackle the Fucket List and it all ends, thankfully, in them getting married at the end. Everyone's favorite side-characters are also there (mainly Annalise's grandma, who has an infatuation with Brinley) as well as Annalise's other best friend, whose name i sadly forgot. They didn't get as much time to shine this time, but where enjoyable when they showed up. Especially Annalise's grandma's reaction when they announced that she's gonna be their bridesmaid was super sweet.
* Personal Opinion * OK i gotta get this out of the way: F*** Chapter 10 and parts of Chapter 11. Here's the thing; One thing on the fucket list was Brinley and Annalise having a threesome, so they did a nice throwback bit where they went back on the App from the first book "The lit clit" (still, awesome name xD) and had a threesome. Sure, i'm down, that was a good one. HOWEVER. One thing on that list and i threated that ever since they announced it, was them going to a swinger party. Ergo, they ended up meeting a hetero couple. Now to Erica Lee's credit, she wrote the beginning of the spice scene between Brinley and the woman and for Annalise she skipped that part with her and that guy completely, but honestly that entire chapter was so ass that i had to fast read it and skim over most of it. I get that they both agreed to it, but for a couple to fling around like that was just so infurating. That was a big gripe for me, but again, thankfully Erica Lee decided to skip the Annalise part entirely.
Aside from that, another thing i felt was a little bit lacking was the other side characters. Annalise's grandma made me chuckle multiple times in the first book, with how witty and downright childish (in the best way possible) her remarks were, but she came a bit short in this one. She had the most screen time, compared to the other side characters and i love her little tour with Brinley, where she arranged a meeting with her old friends at her old workplace and bought her a custom made tuxedo for her wedding. I loved that, that was a sweet addition. Also the fact that, other than the Fucket List, the second "plot line" is them arranging everything for their marriage. From picking out the location to picking the bridesmaids to dresses. The Fucket List itself is really good. It is similar to the first one, where u eagerly anticipate the next scene and u get excited in seeing how it plays out. For me, the sex in a public place, to which they choose a fancy restaurant as well as the wearing vibrating underwear part, which turns out was Annalise wearing them at a meeting with their best friends, where Brinley controlled the vibrations with an App on her phone. Erica Lee did a great job with this scene in particular, as it combines a really good spice scene while u also get some intel into their preparations for their wedding and how the other side characters are doing.
All in all, it is as it is in music, Wu-Tang Clan's first Album was the best they ever released (so far) and so it is with the "A lesbian's guide to women" series. I loved to hear more about Annalise and Brinley, (their story sorta continued in "Racing Hearts" which features their daughter, Ellie and it also features Brinley and Annalise as well) the spice was off the charts, (aside from that stupid swinger insert, god damn i hated that) the side-plot with them planning the wedding (which is also featured in flashbacks in "Racing Hearts") was sweet as well as getting to know a little softer side of some of the other side characters... who wouldn't love Annalise's grandma, seriously. It really does feel like catching up to some old friends. Oh and of course, at the end of the book we also get the gratification on reading about their wedding, which also managed to form some tears.
For anyone that has read the first volume, again, i'd say it's mandatory, definitly should check out the second volume as well. Brinley and Annalise are a perfect couple with insanely good sexual chemestry. There is no angst, just some really good spice and a lot of feel good moments. I give you some of my favorite parts from the book and u can find my final score below that:
And to top it off, here are some of my favorite scenes from the book:
""I don't care if i marry you tomorrow or ten years from now as long as i get to spend the rest of my life with you.""
""A sex bucket list?" "Yes" Brinley brought her hand to her mouth and started to giggle uncontrollably." "A Fucket List, if you will."
"Brinley was sure Annalise was going to kill her for telling her grandma about their Fucket List, but she didn't care."
"You've helped me find parts of myself that i never knew existed, and i'm not just talking about sex and my sexuality. There are dreams i didn't know i had before i met you, but now i can't wait to make them come true with you.""
"She's pulling down my underwear with her teeth. This might be how i die. What a way to go though, right? Brinley laughed to herself..."
""You're the only one who's weirdly invested in my sex life." "That's not true. Your grandma is, too.""
Not going to follow my typical review pattern for this one, simply because it wasn’t a fully fleshed out novel and was simply a short sequel.
I can’t lie, I was a little disappointed by this. I LOVED A Lesbian’s Guide to Women, i thought it was hilarious and a phenomenal queer awakening story with a perfect level of spice. However… this was not even comparable to its predecessor. I think had it been a fully fleshed out novel and story, it could have been. The plot and idea behind it was there. But 149 pages is just simply not enough to actually accomplish this plot successfully, and give it the growth it deserves.
The spice was technically plentiful, but it was just poorly written. Like really poorly written, almost no detail at all. Which again, is disappointing considering the level of quality that was given to us by its predecessor.
The biggest reason I gave this 2 stars instead of 1 is because the ending was SO. DANG. CUTE. I mean I loved this couple, so I was glad to see their HEA.
I will admit I struggled to get through this, considering 149 pages should have taken me 2-3 hours, not several days. But I made it through nonetheless.
Annalise and Brinley are back. They are together but with Brinley finishing school and getting her closer to being a doctor and Annalise managing the apartment complex, their sex life has taken a hit. There will be a month that Brinley takes off after graduating before going to work as a doctor and Annalise plans on taking advantage of it. Brinley on the other hand knows that school and lack of money as yet have held up their plans for marriage and their sex life. So she tells Annalise that they should make a sex bucket list to help bring back the spark. They needed to come up with ten things. Annalise didn’t think she would be into it but as they started thinking of different things to put on list, the hotter she seemed to be getting, ramping the sex drive right up. Erica wasn’t sure she wanted to put this book forward but I think it was a good idea. Some of the things on the list might not be my thing but the tenderness with which Annalise and Brinley handled everything was encouraging. Grandma was back and still a trip as well as Annalise’s best friend. But the nod to Willow Stone and the barn picked for their own nuptials pulled this together. Erica Lee is a storyteller that reaches deep and finds the heart of the story and its characters.
The first book in a very long time I enjoyed from start to finish with no “dammit” moments at all. I find something wrong or off, often many things wrong, in virtually every book I read and I kept waiting for the shoe to drop here, particularly as they set out on their “*ucket” list adventure in an effort to recapture a spark they’d nearly lost during Brinkley’s med school and residency (a tough time that is for any couple). I might quibble a bit about a couple of things on their list, but that would be me, for them it was perfect. The cover was misleading, it wasn’t why I read the book, that was because of who wrote it, but I don’t think handcuffs ever showed up in the book which was good because that was NOT at all what the book was about in any way. So pleasantly surprised there too.
What I did get was a happily ever after with nary a misstep along the way, while not my normal genre, Erica Lee is so good I expand my norms to read her work. Great book I’d recommend highly to anyone of any gender or orientation. This is how people should be with, and to, each other, if they all were we’d have a much better world than we do today. Thank you, Erica, for a most enjoyable break from my own reality!
Well, it turns out Brinley and Annalise are still as sweet and funny as ever. They continue to communicate well and get up to the craziest things… it’s just their vibe. Which it would appear is getting more intense?
Anyway, Grandma and Nathalie were also back for more fun, and it was nice to see the Willow’s barn (from And Then I Met You) and TJ (from 11:59) in there — both of those are among my Erica Lee favorites. About the only thing to be wary of is I don’t think it should be read as a standalone; definitely start with A Lesbian's Guide to Women for the start of Brinley and Annalise’s story.
Anyway, despite the humor and the antics, it’s the sweet moments that get to me, from “you make my dreams come true” to “you ARE my dreams come true”… they’re just so wonderful together. It’s, um, liberating.
I never thought I’d get bored reading spicy scenes. There’s barely a plot and I still know very little about the MCs as people. Also, a few of the f—let list items made me cringe. The last thing I want to read about a couple I like (and I do like the MCs despite their lack of growth) is them boning other people. Not to shame that lifestyle. To each their own, but definitely not for me. Randomly throwing having sex with other people into their relationship seemed unrealistic when there was little discussion and it was nothing more to it than checking items on a list.
This could have been a more interesting story if it was more than just sex scenes and the two MCs mooning over each other. For example, interweaving this storyline through Brinley’s journey to becoming a doctor and the strain it put on her relationship with Annalise would have added some much needed tension and compelling character development to the story.
And for the love of all that is holy, give Annalise’s grandma a name! How does this annoying woman get through two books without a name??
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
So So good to visit one of my favourite couples again. Erica Lee has such a way with words its just mind blowing sometimes. I laughed practically the whole way through this, is such a great read. Now, don’t get me wrong it’s SPICY, like seriously but it’s also a beautiful story. I also teared up, OVER ONE LINE! Sigh, I will NEVER forget that book! I’m sure when you read this book you will all know which line and which book I’m on about. I’m so glad Grandma made an appearance. Lee writes the best grandparents EVER. Is it just me or do you also think it’s not the last we see if TJ? I dunno, but she kinda seems from the little part she had that more is to come… hmmm
Well, this book is brilliant, funny, spicy as all hell and well worth your time reading. Be sure to read the first book though, I mean it’s probably not essential but you might not understand some references and it’s just a great book. Me, I’m off to stare at the wall and think about THAT BOOK and contemplate life in general.
This book was pretty good. It was cheesy in nice romantic ways and in other ways it was a little too much. The writing was okay, but it could have been better. Sometimes characters would be introduced and then never mentioned again or not be relevant to the story. I thought it was a little weird that we were so wrapped up in Annalise and Brinley’s world that there were very few outside storylines. So much so that when there were outside plots it was a bit jarring.
For a book that is marketed as erotic and labeled such, the sex scenes were not that great. They were frequent but not very detailed and didn’t make me squirm in my seat. They were mostly just… boring. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but I think more detail would have helped.
Overall I give it 3 stars and would recommend it if you’re looking for a taste of the erotic fiction tree and need a quick read.
Book 2 features Annalise Finch and Brinley Adams seven years down the road, exhausted by Brinley’s medical education and residency. They aren’t married yet, but have lost touch with each other. So between Brinley’s residency completion and starting her medical career, they decide to make a sapphic spark list to revitalize their bedroom relationship. They agree on ten unique activities to add to the list.
The story was enjoyable and the activities were creative and definitely drew the women closer together in the months before their wedding. There was a lot of humor and growth in their journey. The only issue I had with the guide involved two of the activities that involved other people, with one of these involving a man. I would have rather the list focused on just Annalise and Brinley, but to each your own.
Once again I was turned on reading smut and the next paragraph laughing so hard. Yes this sequel is also practically 80% spice but it's the plot, the trust and fun Annalise and Brinley have is so reflected on the love for eachother. It's a great book to teach us about trust, communication and to remember sex is also about having fun and laugh together. Love the detail of remembering Willow Stone (another great book by Erica Lee) and the small tease for the next book coming out with TJ's character. Can't wait for 11:59 to come out!
PS: once again Grandma and Nathalie did not disappoint.
This fun novella is a sequel to A Lesbian’s Guide to Women (April 2023). It jumps forward seven years to when Brinley Adams is now living with Annalise Finch. Their love and friendship is firmly established. But the hard years of medical school and residency have taken away some of their passion. With a month off before starting work as a doctor they create a sexual bucket list to get some of their zest back. I’m not keen on some of their choices on their list of ten things, but this is at its heart an affirmation of their love and commitment to each other. One of the nice things about Kindle Unlimited authors is they can add another novel or novella if they get inspired for another adventure with characters they’ve created.
I had no idea that a sequel to A Lesbian's Guide to Women was in the works, so when I found out about it I literally squealed with joy, immediately downloaded it, and stayed up until the wee hours of the morning binge reading. It did NOT disappoint! The humor, sweetness, and scalding hot spiciness I loved so much in the first book are all still there. And Grandma is delightful as ever. I honestly can’t say if I’m more in love with Annalise or Brinley, so I suppose I’ll just have to mentally keep dating both of them.
This is a sequel book, so if you liked the first than you would enjoy this. I’m in an interesting position as in that I didn’t finish the first book at all (hated it) and I’m not really a fan of Erica Lee’s character writing. She does know how to write a sex scene though. Which is the main reason I picked up this novella. It’s short and spicy and to the point. Sadly, the grandma still shows up in this and the repetitive writing is also still present.
ok so I am a sucker for really sweet love stories, this one just happens to be pretty damn hot!
Erica Lee has not disappointed me in any of her writing, this one just happened to jerk my heart strings along with heating up the room repeatedly! I love these two characters along with grandma. My only complaint was that grandma was not louder at the wedding!
I absolutely loved the 1st book "a lesbians guide to women" this was such a great read catching up with Annalise & Brindley again on their adventures to keep the spark going in their relationship, it was great to have Grandma back she's absolutely hilarious. Sexy, funny, romantic and just a great read.
It takes a lot of effort and work to not fall into lesbian death bed in relationships. But it also takes a lot of trust and commitment to recognize that the truest form of love is through patience and understanding.
I don’t often read erotica, but this one was good. A solid balance of romance and erotica. I did feel that some of the romance broke some of sexiness at times but both parts of the plot were good so either way its a win.
I'm giving it a 5 because it's Erica Lee, but when people are in a truly committed lesbian relationship they don't think about threesomes and swinging with other couples especially not one with a man in the mix. As always I love the way she writes hysterical grandmother characters in her stories.
A Sapphic Couple’s Guide to Spark is a fun follow-on to the original tale that brought Brinley and Annalise together. Not a tremendous amount of plot, but lots of spice and a very nice wedding to wrap everything up.
