A West End starlet and her aristocrat husband are hosting a birthday party at their Buckinghamshire home. With a guest list from Who’s Who, it’s the most fashionable event of the season. Young sleuth, Lottie Sprigg, is excited to accompany her employer there; even if she feels a little out of place.
All visitors to the house are keen to explore the tricky maze. How long will it take to find their way out? It’s a challenge everyone takes on. Until one unlucky guest never finds their way out at all…
A murderer has struck in the maze! With the help of her four-legged friend Rosie, Lottie investigates. But as the case twists and turns, it’s not long until she finds herself at a dead end. How can she find her way out of the puzzle? With the killer still at large, it proves to be a dangerous undertaking.
While Lottie Sprigg is solving mysteries with her beloved corgi, Rosie, I like curling up by the fire with a good book and a mug of hot chocolate. I love reading mysteries as much as I enjoy writing them, nothing beats the puzzle of a whodunnit! I hope you decide to join Lottie on her adventures to Venice, Milan, Paris and many more!

"Murder in the Maze" continues Lottie Sprigg's mystery-solving adventures at English country houses. This time her employer, Mrs Moore, is visiting an aristocrat whose house has the largest maze in Buckinghamshire.
After a murder occurs in the maze, Lottie and her faithful corgi Rosie attempt to discover the murderer from the cast of characters. Several are involved in the entertainment industry, and along with a jilted ex-wife, there are plenty of suspects and motives.
I had an inkling as to the killer, but I was entirely wrong on the motive and didn't anticipate the other twists which happened.
It won't spoil anything to tell you that Rosie personally catches the culprit!
I love all the Lottie Sprigg books and I highly recommend this one.
In an earlier review, I noted that I much preferred the earlier Lottie Sprigg books that took place overseas while on the chase for the Bavarian Prince.
I am pleased to note that that “Murder in The Maze” achieves the high level of plot construction and complexity of those earlier works.
Ms Bond clearly took her time planning this work, and the result can be seen in the complicated nature of the several mysteries in the book which Lottie must solve.
As a very satisfied reader again, I hope this return to more complicated plotting and narrative will bode well for future volumes.
A pleasant mystery, with some inaccuracies, but graced with a nice setting, a good cast of characters and an interesting plot. Ideal for a relaxing afternoon.
Excellent mystery! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ As always there's murder~ and plausible suspects with flimsy alibis. Lottie is developing into a lovely young lady who, despite now being 'above stairs' in her status of a lady's companion, retains a caring and sensitive attitude towards those 'below stairs' which is extremely refreshing. There are humorous threads throughout the book that will give the reader a good chuckle at some people's gullibility and note taking ability. The Lottie Sprigs series is an excellent way to spend an evening! Also check out the other series by this author ~ Penny Green, Augusta Peel, Churchill and Pemberley~ all exceptionally crafted and well worth the time spent!
Wow! Now in this book being a suspect was beyond dangerous and some of them ended up adding to the death toll.
The lady of the manor is murdered during her 1st wedding anniversary, the guests (and an interloper!) are the main suspects and there is more than one of them who hold a grudge against her.
Solving the case wasn't easy, particularly because there were many secrets that could or could not be related to the crime but needed to be brought to light if there was any hope of finding the culprit. But, of course, Lottie did it *laughs*
And oh! she got some wonderful news by the end of the book! What will she do now?
[3.5 stars] This was the first book I read from this series and I quite enjoyed it! It’s definitely not the most interesting or well plotted mystery. The mystery wasn’t very credible, relied on a lot of coincidences and I don’t think the resolution explained all of the plot points. However, it certainly was a fun and easy read, the characters are very likable and I enjoyed the short chapters. If you are not looking for a great mystery and just want the kind of cozy mystery atmosphere and a simple and easy read, I would definitely recommend this book.
Good Mystery Visitors to the house are keen to explore the tricky maze. How long will it take to find their way out? It’s a challenge everyone takes on. Until one unlucky guest never finds their way out at all. She is murdered instead. Lottie has a hard time figuring this one out. With multiple suspects in the mix it was proven the wrong person was suspected. I borrowed this book from Kindle Unlimited. This in no way affects my opinion of this book.
A vividly painted picture of life in a different time, with a murder mystery for Lottie to solve. Lots of twists and turns in the story keep guessing as to who could be the culprit and why, as well as other stories which come to light. Lottie proves, yet again how clever and capable she is, with the help of her sidekick, the ever loyal Rosie and Mrs Moore, who Lottie can share her ideas with.
Great read, enjoyed the story very much. Lottie is a fascinating character and I love her little dog Rosie. Mrs Moore seemed to be enjoying the sleuthing as much as Lottie. And what interesting characters at the ball. Imagine going to a ball expecting a weekend celebrating and then being stuck for days while the police try to discover who the murder is. What a suprise ending. Never would have guessed how the story would end. Hope there is another one to follow.
Is there anything cozy about murder? I don't know but I sure did cozy up with a good cup of Joe and a comfortable blanket to get lost on an estate where a dog, a lady's companion, and several aristocrats are coming together for a party, but not all will leave alive.
Enjoyable sweet read. Good clues. I don't remember any language. Well done.
Once again Martha Bond has written a fun, unique and fascinating Cozy mystery. The setting of the 1920's England makes it even more interesting. The characters are relatable and would love to take tea with Lottie and Mrs Moore. Very fun and can't wait to read the next one
Fortunately for the local constabulary there is Lottie and her faithful dog Rosie. Without them will the murderers ever be caught? This story has so many twists and turns one gets dizzy from page to page. A true delight. Highly Recommended.
An enjoyable light read that didn't disappoint. Lottie and Rosie always figure it out. The plot twists keep you turning the pages from beginning to end.Looking forward to the next one!
Lottie’s stories are easy and enjoyable reading. She and Mrs Moore are again in the country, but getting lost in a maze is the least of their problems. Although I have yet to figure out how someone could reach through a hedge and be right on target, I still enjoyed the book.
I enjoyed this very much although I think the ending was a little far fetched. Nonetheless the story was interesting and moved quickly. As expected there were a number of red herrings with the reader trying to decide who the murderer would be.
Probably my favourite book in the series. If you enjoy well written English copies with engaging characters, plenty of red herrings and a satisfactory culprit then you will enjoy the Lottie Sprigg series.
I love a good cozy mystery! This one laid out all of the clues for you so it wasn’t hard to deduct who the killer was but I still enjoyed the ride because there were a little more twists and turns then the murder mystery piece.
Another cracking good read,I really enjoyed this book the characters are really well written ,I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys cosy mystery stories.
This is a cute and cozy mystery! Lottie Spriggs and her corgi companion Rosie team up to solve a murder in the English countryside. I really enjoyed this slice of life, idyllic story.
Another party invitation where they forget to add madness, mayhem and murder are the activities to aid the maid with packing, and a little note to the future. Thank you for your words Martha Bond, very much appreciated. :-)
