A fairly superficial treatment of the complex questions around the impact of AI on Education (in 116 pages). Also, within the book, it is claimed that it was written by a human but no author is identified on the front cover or anywhere else within the book. ?? The book does mention a number of AI tools that are focused on certain specific areas, e.g., Grammarly, and I found that material to be helpful.

AI Unveiled: Empowering Educators for the Future Classroom

In a rapidly evolving digital age, “Teaching with AI: Transforming Education from the Classroom Up” stands as an indispensable beacon for educators worldwide. This book demystifies the often-intimidating world of artificial intelligence, offering a lifeline to teachers who aspire to integrate AI into their classrooms but fear the complexity of the technology.

What sets this guide apart is its approachability. The authors tackle the sophisticated subject of AI with clarity and simplicity, ensuring that even those with no technical background can grasp the concepts. It’s refreshing to see complex jargon translated into language that is accessible to all educators, irrespective of their prior experience with technology.

The book is rich with practical strategies and real-life examples, making the theoretical aspects of AI tangible and relatable. The inclusion of specific ChatGPT prompts and over 15 AI tools tailored for educational purposes provides a hands-on approach that many educators will appreciate. This practicality ensures that readers not only understand AI’s potential in education but are also equipped to implement it in their teaching practices immediately.

Ethical considerations are paramount when integrating new technologies into educational settings, and “Teaching with AI” addresses this with the seriousness it deserves. It prompts readers to think deeply about the implications of AI, encouraging a balanced and ethical approach to its use in classrooms.

Perhaps most importantly, the book empowers educators to see AI not as a threat but as a valuable asset in their teaching arsenal. It challenges common misconceptions and fears, replacing them with a vision of AI as a tool that can enhance educational outcomes and prepare students for a future where AI is ubiquitous.

“Teaching with AI” is more than just a guidebook; it’s a call to action for educators to become pioneers in the integration of AI into education. It assures teachers that they need not be tech wizards to make significant impacts in their classrooms with AI. Through this book, educators will not only gain the knowledge and confidence to use AI effectively but will also inspire their students to embrace the technologies that will shape their futures.

For any educator looking toward the horizon and wondering how to prepare for the wave of digital transformation, “Teaching with AI: Transforming Education from the Classroom Up” is your compass. It’s an essential read that promises to transform apprehension into action, guiding educators through the journey of making AI a transformative force in their teaching and in the lives of their students.

a great place to start

I give this book a 4 star rating because it barely scratches the surface of AI, however, it is an excellent overview…A great place for educators to start their AI journey. AI is evolving faster than anything I have ever seen before. In a little over a year the market of AI tools have exploded with every company finding new ways to add it to their own software. This 100+ page book has the potential to be expanded and I look forward to reading future volumes. The author introduces her topic by explaining a framework for incorporating AI into the teaching practices called the AAA Method: Unlocking Evolution. This method involves looking at how to adapt, automate, and amplify by using AI. I like how the book gives a great overview of AI and its potential uses in education. The author includes a brief history of AI and then gets into summarizing specific AI tools that are available to educators. She even includes example prompts for readers to try in ChatGPT. I like how she expands on ways AI can increase student engagement, save teachers time, and even how it can assist with professional development. Last but not least, the book gets into the importance of protecting data privacy stressing how important it is for the users of AI to be aware of how data is collected, stored, and shared stressing the importance of understanding law. I end this review with a quote from the book: “Change the way things are done by becoming a supporter of AI integration and an innovator in education.” I agree, we have no right to sit back and complain about the direction AI takes. Instead, we need to jump in and help guide the direction by using the tool responsibly as well as teaching others to do the same.

Interesting vision of the future… but the description of current capabilities is misleading

Okay, so I’ve been tinkering with ChatGPT, MidJourney (image generating software), Magai (similar to ChatGPT) for the past 5-6 months. I also have an engineering background, and understand some of the complexities of accomplishing what the author describes.

The author paints an amazing picture (in generalities) of the future of AI and what it will be able to do in the classroom. Wonderful. It is lacking in specifics of how you tie everything together.

The author does give some actual prompts to use with ChatGPT… some of which really work. Some did not, like the one of the Civil War requesting maps. ChatGPT is always evolving, and now it does have internet access with Bing. A second prompt was able to provide a link to a map of the US during the Civil War, but it was far from designing a detailed curriculum you could teach from.

So, I think this has a very long way to go. Take it with a grain of salt. But definitely keep exploring AI and ways to incorporate it to take advantage of its strengths to get your work done faster.

AI is here. Why not use it?

I freely admit to bring a novice yo the world of AI. Like the book states, most of what I know about AI is from the movies. However, it is important yo realise that AI is a tool and it is here already bring used. Like any technology, it is best to learn to use it or be left behind. I wanted to give this book 4.5 stars as it is not perfect, but it did answer 90% of my questions do it did deserve a round up. Another reason I was going to take half a star off is that I am not completely convinced a large part of the book was not written by an AI.

It covers the history of AI. The AI is currently out there. How to use one of the most famous AI's, ChatGPT. Innovations that can be made, and in some cases already made in classroom learning. One of the questions I did have was student engagement, and there is a whole chapter on it. There is also a chapter on data security. The book also goes to the future of education that is possible with AI.

One of the things I took away from the book is that AI is here and is already being used. Why not learn to use it like a tool to make life better?

This book provides *some* useful information about AI, but it was very obviously written by AI for the majority of the book. The first chapter states that ~this book wasn’t written by AI~ but I call bunk on that. I had a hard time getting through it and only pushed through because it was part of a book study I signed up for. Every so often there is a chunk of text that sounds like it was actually written by a human, but for the most part it sounds like someone went to ChatGPT with the prompt “write a book about how to use AI in a classroom” and they just copied and pasted the results. There are many other books out there written by actual human educators that provide useful, comprehensive ways to use AI in the classroom. This book was a very superficial introduction to the topic. Don’t waste your time on it.
Also, the “authors” REALLY don’t want their names attached to this book, which adds another level of weird sketchiness. I looked high and low to figure out the humans behind ModernMind Publications and it was a brick wall.
Additionally, many of the reviews I read on Amazon/Audible sound like they’re written by AI too. Very sus.

This is another short treatise touting the awesomeness of AI for teachers. There is little by way of scholarly study to back up claims - just lots of claims. The title says it all and the text of the book repeats it over and over. There was one chapter that reviewed AI sites and what they are good for which I found helpful. Otherwise, it was lots of "AI will make teaching easier, but don't worry, we still need teachers, except fewer, and since AI will teach better than human, teachers will get paid less." I'm paraphrasing. I think the irony is that teachers will spend money on book like this that tell them not to worry, AI can do everything you can do, only better. In fact, it got you to buy this stupid book, good luck. Not a useful resource for teaching strategies that integrate AI.

Interesting read

This book is going to guide those less tech savvy to being able to use it for teaching. It shows how the lessons can be tailored to each student based on their needs as can the help. This has the 15 most common tools used in AI teaching and teaches you how to utilize them. I recommend this book to teachers everywhere.

Pretty good overview so I know where to look next. I liked the apps and descriptions of what you can do with AI. I learned different types of AI and what their limits are. I still need by teen soon to explain some things but it's a good overview.
