✨️Enemies to lovers ✨️He falls first ✨️Small town ✨️Slow burn
After losing her job, Emma decides to visit her best friend Pippa in Paradise Valley. When Emma arrives in town, she has a terrible first encounter with Jack, who not only happens to be Pippa's boyfriend's brother but also owns the house where she's staying.
The banter between Jack and Emma is fun to follow. In my opinion, Jack fell in love at first sight, he just hadn't realized it yet. Despite the teasing, it's clear how much they enjoy each other's company.
I had a blast and loved catching up with the other characters in Paradise Valley.
I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review, but all opinions are my own.
The Last Single Cowboy by Jaimie Casey is the second book in The Bachelors of Paradise Valley series. It picks up right where The Forever Pact ended. This time the book focuses on Pippa's best friend, Emma and TJ's best friend/newfound brother, Jack. I love the banter between Emma and Jack. Emma just lost her job and is worried about Pippa so she decides to go the Paradise Valley to meet TJ and figure out what she wants to do next with her life. I cannot wait for the next book in the series.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving my honest review voluntarily.
– this is part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone (though be forewarned that this book contains spoilers to some of the events in The Forever Pact as it occurs right after where The Forever Pact ends & the spoilers are discussed in this book)
– this is told from Emma & Jack’s points of view
– there is some innuendo/suggestive remarks
– there are about 3 curse words
– it is mentioned that Emma’s mother (her close confidante) passed away a few years ago
Review:
I removed a star because Jack in the last quarter of the story annoyed me with the extent of his anger/jealousy when another guy was in the picture as a possibility (in Jack’s mind). He didn’t really even let Emma explain (when she was trying to say that she knew the flirting between her and the other guy wasn’t going to go anywhere on either of their ends). I was also a little disappointed that we didn’t hear anything about how working together on the book or giving the book to his niece & nephew went after last hearing that Emma was working on some of the artwork.
Prior to that last bit of the book, I was loving the chemistry and banter between Jack & Emma. I loved that they kept harping on the way they first met with the driving lessons joke. I loved when they got the puppies for Jack’s farm and how that changed their dynamic a little bit by adding in their care & cute faces. I loved getting to see Jack’s thoughts on the secret he kept from his best friend and what it meant that it was now out into the open. I loved getting to see more of Jack & TJ’s friend group and who might end up with who later on and I’m curious how it would happen!
Summary:
When Emma’s job unexpectedly fires her and it seems like her life is crumbling down, she decides to take a page from her best friend and go out to Paradise Valley. It’ll be good for her to make sure that Pippa picked a good boyfriend and isn’t about to have her heart broken once more, plus taking a vacation while searching for a new job doesn’t hurt. But when Emma enters Paradise Valley, she’s almost run off the by a laughing cowboy who didn’t even bother to check to make sure she was alright. And unfortunately, Emma will have to room in said cowboy’s house while spending time in town as Pippa’s boyfriend doesn’t have the room for another guest.
Jack isn’t looking for another relationship after how his last girlfriend blew up their relationship. He’ll be the last single cowboy in town. Yet despite his choice to not look for a relationship, Jack finds himself drawn to Emma. Which could be a problem since they hit it off on the wrong foot from the start and she’s looking into jobs in New York. He can’t and shouldn’t pursue anything with her, but jealousy rears it’s ugly head more than once when he notices other guys around town seeing what a great catch Emma would be. Can he really deny what his heart has already told him?
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. This is book 2 in The Bachelors of Paradise Valley Series and can be read as a standalone, though events that happened in book 1 are discussed so it while spoil things for those that haven't read it yet. The book's blurb gives you an idea of what to expect. The Last Single Cowboy is told through Emma and Jack's pov and is a good enemies to lovers romance.
After being fired from her job, Emma is free to do what she wants but she's feeling lost. Visiting Pippa, her best friend, in Montana is something that she hopes will help her clear her mind as she decides what to do next. But, when she has a bad first meeting with Jack, Pippa and her boyfriend's friend, and learns that she will be staying with him during her visit, she isn't sure a peace of mind is what she will be getting. Jack is confident and a cocky flirt who loves getting a rise out of Emma. He's not interested in having a relationship but can't deny the pull he feels toward Emma and knows that she feels it too, even if she won't admit it.
Because of how they met, their romance was a slow burn. There was a lot of back and forth and hot and cold moments, which sometimes overshadowed the fun and sweet moments that they shared. However, I liked their banter and how Emma gave Jack as good as she got. It was also nice to see them confide their fears to each other. The romance is a closed door one consisting of kissing, innuendo, and mentions of physical intimacy. At times, it felt like some of the things mentioned could've been further developed, like Jack's guilt, but I still liked this story. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
This is book two in The Bachelor’s of Paradise Valley series and it is Emma and Jack’s story and omg it is definitely a must read. When Emma got fired from her corporate job in New York she decided to go to visit her best friend Pippa in Montana so that she can decide what to do next and also how to move forward with her life after everything that had happened but when she gets there things don’t go as planned and she ends up having to stay at Jack’s place instead of staying with Pippa which only complicates her life even more. Jack is Pipper’s boyfriend TJ’s best friend and also a confirmed bachelor and thinks that he is gods gift to women and also the hottest cowboy around but sometimes even the mighty has to fall off the pedestal that he has put himself on. Emma and Jack are at loggerheads constantly and bicker all the time and never seem to agree on anything but when Jack asks Emma for help to illustrate a book that he is writing for his niece and nephew Emma sees a different side to Jack and things between them start to change but how long will this truce last before they once again go off on one another with there bickering. I love this book so much and the banter between Emma and Jack will have to laughing and also hoping that they can both get their act together and realise that they are meant to be together and see what is right in front of them before it is too late and they both miss out on something very special. This book will have you turning the pages and unable to put it down and I can’t wait to read the next book in this amazing and fun filled series.
4.5 stars! Another book based in Paradise Valley! This is book two of the Bachelors of Paradise Valley, and is focused on Jack and Emma. Book one ended with Pippa’s best friend Emma coming to town, and that is exactly where this book started! Emma comes to Paradise Valley to get away from the city for a while after losing her job, and just so happens to run into Jack. Who she already doesn’t like from the get go. After him “running her off the road” she actually meets him back at Tj’s ranch, when she is going to see Pippa. And to top it all off, she learns Jack is who she will be staying with while she is in town. This was a very good slow burn, closed door romance! Not going to lie, I’m not normally a closed door book girl, like I said for the first book. But the banter between these two kept me sucked into reading more! I loved all the comments they made back and forth, and I really loved seeing them actually build a friendship! Another thing to mention is that there was lots of Tj and Pippa in this book as well, which I really loved! As much as I enjoyed this book, the only reason it’s not 5 stars is because Jack was starting to get on my nerves toward the end. When Raphael would be talking to Emma, he would get mad and not really even let Emma speak about what was going on. And I feel like it kinda ended abruptly, I was expecting more. But all that to say, I seriously enjoyed this book! And if you like a small town, slow burn, rom com book I would highly recommend this one!!
When Emma loses her job she decides to head to Montana to see her best friend Pippa. She hopes to clear her head while the new job offers roll in. The only one standing in her way of finding any peace is Jack. Jack was not expecting to have his house opened up to guests. He soon begins to worry that Emma may be taking up more space than just his home but also his heart.
The Last Single Cowboy is the second book in The Bachelors of Paradise Valley series. This frenemies to more romance can be read as a stand-alone. It is closed-door but there is some innuendo.
Emma and Jack don’t get off to the best start. Once they do warm up to one another there’s plenty of great banter and some silly pranking. There is a little bit of a love triangle that pops up and it makes Jack question what he really wants for his future. I really enjoyed the progression of the relationship between the two brothers. Not only are they navigating romantic relationships, they’re learning to sort through things about their pasts. I’m glad we got to see plenty more of the MCs from book one.
I like the direction in which this series is going. I look forward to seeing who’s story we will get to see next.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The Last Cowboy is an enemies-to-lovers, slow burn very sweet romance. It's set in a beautiful, tranquil location in a small town in Montana called Paradise Valley. While it is book 2 in The Bachelors of Paradise Valley series it is a standalone and the icing on the cake was we got to catch up with previous characters that enriched so much of this epic story. Perfection! I don't know where to begin to tell you how much I loved this book. The first book followed Pippa and TJ, this one follows Pippa’s best friend Emma who just lost her job and decides to visit her best friend in Paradise Valley to make sure her new found happiness is real and to figure out her life and Jack who just happens to be TJ's best friend/newfound brother. I must say how they met had me laughing especially at their reaction and their back and forth banter that continued throughout the book. You can see and feel their growing attraction to each other even as they are trying hard to deny what is staring them in the face. Will they finally get the courage to speak their truths or will they miss their chance before she returns to New York?
Five beautiful emotional well deserved ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I received an ARC from the author and I'm voluntarily leaving my review.
There’s no better way to get over a life hurdle than disappearing to Paradise Valley. This time Pippa and TJ’s respective best friends, Emma and Jack take the stage. Given that TJ’s house barely had enough room for Pippa, there’s definitely none for Emma, so it’s arranged that she’ll stay with Jack. They didn’t have a great first meeting and there’s a tension between them that has them constantly bickering and playing pranks. They form a truce when he asks for her help to make a book for his niece and nephew, showing he’s not just the cocky, self-assured cowboy he comes off as. An easy to read, fun and sweet romance with bright and sparky characters who keep you entertained and turning the pages from the start right through to the HEA. Take another stroll through beautiful Paradise Valley, you’ll definitely love the characters, I can’t wait to meet the next couple.
I received a copy from the author and this is my voluntary review.
This is book two for this series, and I loved it as much as I loved the first book. The first story revolves around TJ and Pippa whereas book two dives into a potential love story between Pippa's best friend Emma and TJ's best friend and brother Jack. The love story itself was awesome. The tempo and build-up of them getting to a place where they finally admit feelings for each other was perfect. Sometimes you read romance books where the author drags the love story back and forth for so long that you lose your interest in reading about the "big moment". In The Last Single Cowboy, the story was obviously about the two main characters getting together, but JS Cooper did a great job of continuing the reveal storyline from book one. She incorporated the inner struggle Jack was having over keeping such a big secret from TJ and how TJ honestly felt about the situation as well. This was a great book, and I cannot wait for book three to come out!
Thank you to Jaimie Casey for this ARC of The Last Single Cowboy! Another book of Jaimie's that I loved!!! The Last Single Cowboy is the second book in The Bachelors of Paradise Valley Series. This book can be read as a standalone. However, it does pick up where The Forever Pact leaves off with some things that happen at the end of the book. Emma meets Jack at the end of the first book when he almost runs her off the road as she was on her way to her best friend Pippa's Ranch. This is where she finds out he’s Pippa’s boyfriend’s best friend. He is also her local host for her stay. I would say Jack falls for Emma first. Throughout the book, there is some teasing back and forth. I enjoyed the ending! I would recommend if you like enemies to lovers, slow burns, small town stories, and romances! I cannot wait for Jaimie's next book! 😍❤️😍
This was a fun continuation of the series! I liked how the book picked up right where The Forever Pact left off and that we were able to see TJ and Pippa's story continue, while also seeing Jack and Emma's story play out. The book was quick and slow at the same time. I loved the slow burn! I always enjoy a book full of banter and tension, rather than the couple getting together right away. I do feel like the ending came really quickly though. There were some unanswered questions at the end, but I assume we will get more answers in the next book. I would have liked to see a little more, maybe even just an epilogue. Otherwise, I'm excited to continue the series and see where everything goes in Paradise Valley! I love all the side characters and the found family vibes of the town. Can't wait to see what comes next for everyone!
I loved that this picked right up where The Forever Pact left off and that we get lots of TJ & Pippa, too. Because let’s be real.. Jaimie writes some addicting characters.
Emma’s got some big decisions to make & Jack doesn’t want a relationship or to ever get married.
This story gives us amazing main characters, very supportive side characters, cowboys, AND takes place on a ranch in a small town. Could we ask for more?
The banter between these two is amazing. Their chemistry is ugh. But will it be enough to balance their bad first impressions of each other.
The writing is done well, leaving you turning the pages to see what happens next.
I highly recommend reading this! After you’ve read The Forever Pact, of course.
This was such a good read! Emma and Jack have such a great dynamic, and their relationship within the dynamic of the Paradise Valley crew is so great. These two had me hooked very early on, and I actually laughed out loud reading some of their conversations.
I was also super excited to return to Paradise Valley and get to see further development of characters from the previous book and what we might get from them in the future books in this series. I also really enjoyed the dual POV in this book, as it allowed us to further explore things that happened in the first book between Emma & Pippa and Jack & TJ.
If you're looking for a sweet, closed door rom-com with small town vibes and cowboys and ranches, then this one's for you!
“The Last Single Cowboy,” by Jaimie Casey was such a fun read! I loved the enemies to lovers trope, and the strong female lead! Emma and Jack were so great together and it was enjoyable to be along for the ride in their story! And of course you can’t help but love the cowboy 🤠 in this book!
I loved being back in Paradise Valley with past characters, and getting to know the main characters better! It was cool to get more scenery of Jack’s ranch this time, with Emma being an artist and painting!
I also enjoyed the puppies, and the horseback riding! Those were both fun touches to the story! I am definitely excited for the next book, because this series has been a delight so far! 💕 This book is now available!!
*I received a copy of this book from the author, all opinions are my own.
When Emma finds herself unemployed, she heads to Montana to spend some time with her best friend Pippa. From her arrival things do not get off to an ideal beginning due to an encounter with an irate cowboy but things are about to get worse when she finds out they are about to become roommates.
Jack is used to charming women not infuriating them, but Emma is unlike anyone he has ever met. He would do anything for his best friend, who happens to be in love with Emma’s best friend, so he will make the best of the situation, but he never expected that he wouldn’t want her to leave.
The interactions between them are humorous and the more they get to know each other the more they realize what has been missing in their lives is each other.
I really enjoyed this second book in the Bachelors of Paradise Valley series. Jaimie really knows how to write characters who drawn you into their lives. Jack and Emma were too lost souls waiting to collide and they did an unusual way. Their meet was to say the least unconventional. Their banter and teasing took on a life of it’s own and made for some fun times. Although they seemed to want different things, their lives were destined to collide. Loved seeing Pippa and TJ again and the rest of Paradise Valley’s residents. Always love it when you have a HEA. I received a copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
“She was cute, but I wasn’t looking for entering. There was a reason why my friends had nicknamed me the Last Single Cowboy in Montana. And being around her wasn’t going to change that.” The Last Single Cowboy is book 2 in the Bachelors of Paradise Valley series. This book follows Jack and Emma on their enemies-to-lovers journey! Emma is learning how to get through loss and loneliness and Jack is learning that love and commitment isn’t as bad as he thought in the past. I went through a rollercoaster of liking and disliking Jack, which is the only reason I gave this 4/5 stars instead of 5 like book 1. Also I LOVED getting to see more of Pippa and Tj in this book! Their love is so sweet!
Loved this book! Emma and Jack have such a great dynamic, and their banter right from the start was hilarious these two had me laughing out loud reading some of their conversations.
I was very excited to return to Paradise Valley and see the development of characters from Book one and what we might see in the future.. I also really enjoyed the dual POV in this book, as it allowed us to further explore things that happened in the first book between the main characters.
I received an advanced reader’s copy of this book and I am writing this review voluntarily.
I liked that this picked up right from where The Forever Pact left off (although, this could also be read as a standalone), and I really enjoyed being back in Paradise Valley. It's a cheesy, feel-good, enemies to lovers, cosy slow burn rom-com. What is there not to love?
The only reason I'm rating it 4 stars is because I was slightly more invested in Pippa and TJ's story in the first book, but that's not to say that I didn't also love Emma and Jack's. Jaimie Casey definitely has a way of bringing addictive characters to life!
The Last Single Cowboy by Jaimie Casey was so much fun. The banter between Jack and Emma was hilarious. They were like kids on the playground. It was like Jack never grew up and learned how to properly communicate with the opposite sex and Emma just put him in his place with so much gusto until he hit boiling point and finally cracked in the most amazing way. It was so much fun getting to go back to Paradise Valley and see how Pippa and T.J. were doing as well.
Emma leaves her life behind in New York to join her best friend, Pippa in Paradise Valley, Montana. There she rents a car and makes the drive to Paradise Valley. An inconsiderate, reckless driver causes stress for Emma on the drive. So begins the enemies to lovers romance between cowboy, Jack and big city girl, Emma. There is so much chemistry between these two characters. This romcom cannot be missed.
This is the second book in The Bachelors of Paradise Valley series, but can be read as a standalone. If you like enemies to lovers romances, you'll enjoy this book. Great characters with lots of depth and an entertaining storyline. Lots of fun back and forth banter between Jack and Emma. A fun read that ends with an HEA and no cliffhanger. I read a free arc via the author and voluntarily chose to review it.
The story of Jack and Emma was super cute but the ending seemed rushed. *Spoiler* they finally realize they like each other after Emma is supposed to leave for a job in NYC and 3 pages later they’re happily ever aftering with no real conflict about her going home to her new job. We never get background info on why Emma is so insecure also. Like the author alludes to bad boyfriends but that is a huge personality trait for her and it isn’t explored or explained.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
3.5 stars. When other reviews said slow burn, they’re not kidding. 75% and neither likes the other in the couple sense at all, yet. Around 80%, they finally get around to kissing. By the start of the last chapter, at 96%, still not together as a couple and she still hasn’t made a major life decision of which was a major plot line. Very rushed ending and no epilogue. Enjoyed the read. Would’ve really enjoyed it more if they’d actually became a couple at some point.
I liked it but didn’t absolutely love it I will say it took me a while to read it. I bought it then started it. Then put it down to read something else that was higher on my TBR. Then forgot about it. Then it took me about a week to a week and a half to finish it while listening to audio books and reading physical books at the same time. I would recommend it I do think it ended kind of abruptly I hope in the next book if there is one we get a little more information.
Loved Jack and Emma in this small town romance! Much like book one, it was like a little Hallmark movie with found family, all the banter, and fade to black scenes. I know it's book two of five, but I felt like it still needed one more chapter of a wrap up, but still super cute and can't wait for book three to see what's in store for the rest of the gang!
This was a sweet read. It is the second book in this series about the small town of Paradise Valley. This is Jack and Emma’s story. They start out as enemies after a slight driving/road incident and then find out they’re going to be roommates for a while. Living together and getting to know each changes everything. I really enjoyed reading this book.
This book was cute, but there were some things I didn’t love. The pacing felt off for me. It just jumped around a bit and some parts were slow and others leapt forward. The relationship was also a little off for me. I needed more resolution at end. I liked the first book in the series but this one missed the mark for me. . Content: innuendo, loss of a mother
I absolutely loved this book. It made me smile the whole way through and I definitely didn't want it to end. Jack and Emma were so much fun. You could feel their chemistry. I also loved the fact that they were sincere, driven, loyal and so good. I have enjoyed this series immensely and can't wait for more.
