BOOK Six in the Fallout Series from USA Today, ECPA, and CBA Best-selling Author Lisa Harris.
In today’s world, law enforcement agencies across the country rely on forensic tools, DNA testing, and crime labs. But what if that technology was suddenly no longer available? No one in the small, west Texas town of Shadow Ridge knows what took down the power grid, or when it’s going to be back up, but everyone knows exactly where they were the moment it went down. And now, with no electricity, no internet, and no modern technology, the men and women responsible for keeping the town safe are going to have to learn how to fight crime all over again.
“Author Lisa Harris hits it out of the park with these well imagined ‘what if’ stories!”
What happens when the lights come back on?
Some had called the attacks on the country by the Realm a second civil war, and Chase Beckett agreed. What he’d seen first-hand had turned into the largest and most destructive conflict on US soil since that era. Not only had the organized group behind the damage taken down the grid and infostructure, they’d also continued to raise havoc across the country.
But just because the good guys had finally won and the power was finally coming back on, didn’t mean that the chaos that had erupted across the country had vanished. No. That was going to take time. And for the McQuaid family, it was going to take everything they had to survive the lights coming back on.
**Each novel contains a standalone mystery, but there are overarching stories that tie together the entire series.

This is the perfect finale to a fantastically engrossing series! There is no power, no technology but plenty of villains and sickness that requires medication that is hard to come by. The firm foundation of faith and family that is exhibited in this novella had me racing through the pages to find out how everything turned out. I learned a lot as I read this series, about survival skills as well as the necessity of holding tightly to God when things get rough. This is a must-read series with non-stop action, lovable characters who face challenges every day and who meet them with determination and prayers. I loved every minute I spent with this final book and was sad to see it end, but I exult in the fact that I own the series and can go back and re-read them and enjoy the stories all over again. The plot is masterfully written, with fascinating drama intertwined with events that are possible and scary good to read about. This is a quick read and has a satisfying conclusion that left me knowing for sure why Lisa Harris is one of my favorite authors. The book can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend that everyone read the entire Fallout series. They are all amazingly insightful into human nature and what it takes to survive when the grid goes down. Disclaimer Disclosure of Material Connection: I purchased a copy of this book for my own reading pleasure. I was not required to write a positive review and all opinions expressed are my own.
What a wonderful conclusion to a fantastic "what if" series! I have thoroughly enjoyed every story in this amazing series about what life could look like if the grid went down and nothing was the same. It brings us back to the days of the wild west. It made me wish I had more practical skills that didn't rely on technology or electricity.
It is beginning to look like the power is coming back, but lawlessness still abounds. Chase Beckett and Jace McQuaid are on their way home with much needed medical supplies when the train is held up, and Chase is shot and Jace is kidnapped. This is an intense suspenseful book and is a great conclusion to the Fallout Series.
You know what? I actually like that things aren’t fixed immediately. Even with the Realm being stopped, life doesn’t automatically go back to normal. Destruction is so much faster than building. But this book brings us full circle. Garrett McQuaid finds space to begin healing and gets a second chance to live. There’s also redemption for the events that happened the day the grid went down. It’s all very interesting! I would say this mainly focuses on Garrett and Hope/Chase.
Power is being restored, but things still are not normal in Shadow Ridge. As with other major events in history, sometimes things are never the same again. Only time will tell in western Texas whether or not they can overcome the aftermath of the takeover of the grid by the Realm. The McQuaids suffered severe loss when the grid went down, but as a strong, influential family in the town, they are right in the middle of trying to survive as well as help everyone else that they possibly can. Chase, who married Hope McQuaid, the only doctor in town, has been on a trip with his brother-in-law, Jace, to procure medical supplies for the clinic. They are returning on the train when it gets held up by the brothers who almost murdered Garrett McQuaid, the patriarch of the family, just before the grid went down. Suddenly, the story kicks into high gear as Jace is taken as a hostage and Chase goes in hot pursuit. The action and suspense are intense as Chase and other family members have to make some hasty decisions about the best way to rescue Jace and retrieve the desperately needed supplies from a small gang who are known killers. So much is riding on the outcome of their mission. I received a copy of this book from the author. This is my honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.
I was a bit surprised when Aftermath released as I kinda thought Harris wrapped the series up quite nicely with the last one. BTW, if you're thinking of reading this one and not any of the previous five, I'd say 'stop and reconsider as it really won't make a lot of sense.' And the series is worth the investment in time and money. The series has everything and more that we've come to expect of Lisa Harris.
I had a bit of a struggle through the first half of this story as it kinda felt like Harris may have been a little distracted when writing it. It just didn't have that precision that I've come to expect with her stories, the gold dust that comes out of her fingers as she writes. But then the messages in the final third are worth waiting for. Forgiveness, trust, holding onto Jesus when we don't want to or are struggling to. It was a great way to end a series when each of the McQuaid family were stretched way out of their comfort zones when the world goes mad!
It has been two years since the grid went down, and the people responsible finally stopped. While some larger cities are back online, the small, isolated town of Shadow Ridge is still down.
On the way back from Dallas for medical supplies, the train Chase and Jace are on board is hijacked. Chase is shot, the medicine stolen, and Jace taken hostage. Garrett must confront the man who left him for dead to rescue Jace.
Aftermath is the sixth and final book of the Fallout series by Lisa Harris. Most of the McQuaids are on hand and must learn how to deal with their emotions of loss and anger. The author's message of navigating life's changes is helpful for all. I will miss this family.
I received a free paperback copy of this book. I volunteered to read it and write a review.
What a ride! Two years after the end of the last installment Aftermath arrives on the scene. The McQuaid clan is thrust back in to the adventure of where everything started in the prequel. Harris takes readers across the west Texas terrain and has the family evaluate the grief that slammed in to them as the grid went down. Being thrust in to survival mode on the heals of so much loss is almost impossible to fully process. But God … My favorite scene in this book is four pages about the Holy Spirit and His work in our lives. This met me right where I am this week and I marveled at God’s timing of having me read this book at this specific time in life. Thank you to the author for the opportunity to review this series. I loved the whole thing. All opinions are my own.
Only 137 pages to wrap up this really good series makes me feel cheated. The first couple of books were a decent length and depth, but the rest have gotten shorter and shorter. I really like Lisa Harris's books, and I guess I'm just disappointed. This book ties up the loose ends as the McQuaid family comes together to solve issues without the advantages of modern necessities. It's still a good book, I just wanted more.
I enjoyed this series. They are best read in order so you know what is going on. My only problem with them is I wanted more. This is the last of the series.
Chase Beckett and his brother-in-law Jace have taken the train to get medicine and other things for their town when the train is highjacked. Chase is shot and Jace taken hostage! Will Chase be able to get back home and get help for Jace? Can they find where Jace was taken?
This is the conclusion to the Fallout Series. I enjoyed these books it very much.
The father needed to deal with grief and letting go. He felt revenge and even wanted to kill his enemy when he could. I'm so thankful he did not shoot.
Hope and Chase played a huge part in the entire series.
What a story about the grid going down and people needing to do without a lot of conveniences.
The power grid is back on, but violence hasn’t stopped. Jace McQuaid, and his brother-in-law, Chase take a train to get medical supplies for the clinic. The train was held up by the man who shot Jace’s father. Chase was shot, Jace was taken hostage, and the train has derailed. An intense ending to this fascinating series. Good guys, bad guys, desperation, courage, faith, and hope all made for an interesting series.
I can't write a review without including all the books in the series. This book was a great ending for the series. Lisa wrapped it all up in a neat little bow! Strong characters and interesting storyline! She keeps you wanting more. I would very much recommend this book and series! She doesn't disappoint!
What a great conclusion to an amazing series. I have thoroghly enjoyed each story and in some ways sad to see it end..I have enjoyed getting to know each of the characters.
Loved this series & this last conclusion is as good as the rest! Great characters, family healing and much learned as finally the grid is slowly being restored.
