Alien Mate Index #5

The Overlord's Pet

Rate this book
*This is Book 5 of the Alien Mate Index but it can be read as a stand-alone novel*

I never wanted to be a pet—especially not the pet of an arrogant, Alien Overlord. Now I’m stuck on his spaceship, learning to walk on a leash and eating a disgusting concoction called “human chow.” Also, Sir demands that I go through “training” of the extra-spicy variety in order to display “proper pet behavior” whatever that means. Will I ever get back to Earth? You’ll have to read The Overlord’s Pet to find out.

When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up? An astronaut? A ballerina? A scientist? Whatever it was, I bet it wasn’t a pet. Specifically the pet of a huge, muscular, arrogant Alien Overlord.

I never wanted to be a pet either, but that seems to be my fate. I was sucked through the bathroom mirror at my Great Aunt’s house by these little blue guys called “Commercians” who run a service called The Alien Mate Index. They sold me to a huge alien with horns and a tail who told me I may call him “Master” or “Sir.” He made me wear a collar and taught me to walk on leash and even tried to get me to eat “human chow!” But don’t worry—he’s not one of those crazy owners who forces their pet to wear clothing. No—Sir thinks that clothes on a pet look “ridiculous” so guess who gets to run around his spaceship bare-ass naked all day? I’ll give you two guesses and both of them are “me.”

This isn’t a fate I chose and I’m determined to escape from Sir and find my way back to Earth. But things start getting sticky when he claims that he bought me for a purpose much larger than the two of us. Does the fate of my galaxy really rest on my shoulders? And why does it require so much extra “training” of the spicy variety? Will I ever get back to my own planet and eat a cheeseburger instead of that disgusting human chow?

To find out, you’ll have to read The Overlord’s Pet

The girl who saves the galaxy!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💚🖤💙❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏🌎
Character development: ☺️😮🙂😍🥰
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The Hero: Sir - The lord of the realm on Korrigon Four. He is ten feet tall, muscular and imposing. According to the Korrigons, their planet is the most advanced in the galaxy, they consider all other beings whether sentient or not, as animals. He goes to the alien mate index, not for a mate but for a pet from the primitive planet Earth. He needs the pet, not for sexual purposes, but as a companion and to prove a point about the planet Earth and save the planet from the predatory plans of his rival, the overlord of the southern continent.

The heroine: Ellie (a.k.a. Little One) - She has a masters degree in library science. Though there were cutbacks and she was barely able to make ends meet. Ellie was at her aunts house helping with her aunts dogs, when she looked into a mirror and she was sucked through a portal. Kidnapped by Aliens and sold by the Alien Mate Index to be the pet of an alien overlord.

The Story: Ellie is disturbed by her new position, especially after she is put in a crate in the room of the overlord on the ship taking them back to Korrigon Four. She is able to get out of the crate and she has a pretty good disposition despite her predicament. Sir is a weird one, for someone who is supposedly from such an advanced species, he was pretty dumb about other sentient species. He was surprised that Ellie is able to use a bathroom and he has to bathe her because no pet he ever heard of likes to take a bath and she might miss some areas if he left her to do it.

I was a bit unsure when I picked this one up. I loved the first four books in this series, they are all pretty long, but had terrific storylines and characters. I gave most of them five stars. I noticed this one had more BDSM themes, which I usually like, but the whole ‘Pet’ thing puts me on edge. I keep wanting the pet to bite the master in the junk and put him in his place.

This one wasn’t so bad, Sir was pretty nice, if stupid when in came to other sentient species. Though if I were Ellie, I wouldn’t stop asking for clothes until I bothered him so much he gave in. Plus I think it is so stupid for Ellie to plan to escape at her first opportunity. She knows nothing of other species in the universe and my first thought would be that I would end up in a much worse position than I was already in. Ultimately that is what always happens in these types of books.

This book was told in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by William Martin and Mackenzie Cartwright. Mackenzie has an intelligent sounding feminine voice which is very pleasant. Willian Martin has a deep voice and he did Sir’s thoughts in a whisper which I really liked. The story was really good for the most part, but there were some parts that were a bit too crazy to be believed. Like semen that tastes like salted caramel and the fact that Sir has a tail (Candalla) with its own brain and that he talks to it like it is a separate being. Though it isn’t described as having ears or eyes, it can apparently hear and understand what Sir tells it. Oh, and the tail is a separate sex organ as well.

Content warnings:

- kidnapping
- human trafficking
- non-consensual pet play
- hero repeatedly touches the heroine against her will, including "bath time"
- heroine is forced to walk around naked everywhere
- heroine is "upgraded" from a companion pet to a "Sex Pet" without it being discussed
- heroine has her body hair permanently removed against her will
- hero has a weird race theory where everyone outside of his own "smart" race is an animal and should be treated as such

We all reach that point in our life when everything is too much and we become a parody of our selves.

This is obviously EA's breaking point: the hero is 10 (or 9, depends on the chapter or EA's mood I guess) feet tall. Or 3 metres, as she lets us know!

The bed is HUGE. HIYUUUUUUDGE. The 5'4" heroine cannot get on the bed on her own.

The hero's dick is like the heroine's underarm like a legit elephant trunk.

He also has a tail with its own goddamn brain at the base of it right over his ass. I am not making this up!

I call him ass-brain. Sadly, his ass-brain is way smarter than his head-brain. Rude ò^ó!

The hero also has his own nifty race theory. Everyone except his people, the Aryans Korrigans, are actually animals and unworthy of being treated like anything better than a hamster, sentient or not. He's one of the good Nazis Korrigans, though, because he at least doesn't want to genocide and/or trade as slaves every pathetic inferior species.

Such a nice guy.

Anyway, the scene where the hero forces the heroine to remove her body hair and she says "well it's fine, it's going to grow back" and he hits her with "lol, nope! it's permanent but since I'm your master I get to call the shots lol" really got me.

Major, all around yikes.

Was I reading the same book as everyone else?
I feel like I'm missing something every other person with a 4/5 star is reading.

First off, disclaimer I'm not simply 'bashing' or actively being a 'hater' on this author but this is a genuine and (what I consider) fair review of my thoughts on this book. I was really looking forward to this book to begin with which is why I purchased it as soon as it came out. But I have been so utterly disappointed, I cannot possibly in good conscious let others make the mistake I did. EA is generally a great author for this kind of work, undeniably! I re-read many of her books and they are a staple comfort read of mine but this one. Dear God...this one.

The premise is Ellie is abducted and sold to a different type of Alien not seen in EA's previous books. This type ('Sir') can read minds. He purchases her for the sake of keeping her as a 'pet' (note: apparently definitely NOT a sex pet *rolls eyes*).

While it's a simple enough premise, with the right execution it could have been a fun (though predictable of course) story. And this is what I was really looking forward to. But I think EA was on autopilot of deleted some massive chunks of writing because this story made me cringe so much.

Here are my main issues with it:

The main guy ('Sir') is an incredibly unlikeable, asshole. There is no redeeming qualities about him. He's just a bad, 1 dimensional jerk. He realises she is sentient but keeps her as a 'pet' regardless. Insists she calls him Sir. Says she's not a sexual partner but keeps sexually harassing her. And all of this is apparently 'hot' to the vapid heroine. There is nothing about his backstory at least given in the beginning that could possibly make the reader feel anything but dislike for him. He is a villain.

I genuinely started liking the heroine. When we started with the first few chapters giving an introduction to her dire life situation and the hopelessness of her life, it was entertaining and I was rooting for her. (I was rooting for you girl!). But as soon as she was kidnapped, damn she just became this blanket that was suddenly fine with everything. She didn't fight. She started agreeing with the a-hole who BOUGHT her. Honestly, she was one of those too dumb to live characters.

And adding onto that for all her life she wasn't interested in sex, and thought she was asexual. Which fine. Cool. Not a big deal. Yes, I figured oh she'll meet this guy and start to realise that actually she is a sexual person and not ace. And listen, I suspend my reality to read these books on Alien's but my God, how does one suspend reality about basic sexuality?!

She thinks Sir is hot. (Fine. You can see that someone is objectively attractive and have sexual feelings for them even if they're a bad person). But having barely connected with him. Knowing barely anything about him. He touches her (and without really her consent too) and she's suddenly super horny for him. She's soaking wet and has an O straight away. WTH?!!! HOW? How would that EVER work?

And we don't have the excuse here of her being his 'mate' or anything like that. EA could have EVEN added in something about the abductors having injected her with some breeding compound etc. And that would have given it a little more plausibility.

This meant for me the 'heat' of this book was ruined. Absolutely destroyed. I couldn't like the male character or the female.

I apologise for the huge long rant. To anyone who likes EA's books I would give this one a miss. It's not good if you want some actual characters with personalities who don't give creepy vibes. To anyone starting off with EA books, check out some of her other stories (I don't recommend you start with this one).

*To my Goodreads friends: Goodreads is acting really weird for me lately, maybe because I am in England right now, so I can't reply to comments because it says I need to verify my email. *

I really enjoyed this book. I know how other reviewers felt that the section of Ellie's life before Sir was too long and drawn-out, but I thought it was funny/ironic and clever how Evangeline Anderson made Ellie a pet sitter before she became a "pet" herself.

All the thoughts of how to write a book review just apparently deserted my brain, so let me just say this: 1) I never found tails hot until this book. (The hero has a tail, which can fuck her.)
2) I was jealous of the heroine at times.
3) I laughed out loud at least twice on the bus in London.
4) I felt like maybe this book had a little bit of skinny-shaming, but that didn't bother me. I was thinking to myself wouldn't Ellie be losing weight if all she is eating are the nutritional gel cubes, and sure enough, we later find out that she did. Sir didn't like it and wanted her to fatten up again. But the part I felt was skinny-shaming was that the "bad woman" was supermodel skinny and was killed off. I feel like this is not the first book of EA's that I've read where something bad happens to the skinny woman, lol.
Ellie later introduces the Korrigons to desserts, which of course they love, a part I appreciated.
5) The size of the aliens is becoming a little ridiculous...Sir is ten feet tall, which would probably be scary in real life. His dick is way too big for a human, so Ellie needs to be stretched out.

I liked the dual POV, first-person, but it killed a little bit of the suspense at the end. The twist at the ending reminded me of a similar situation in Evangeline's book, "The Academy".

The third act separation was dumb, but I understood why Sir did what he did.

My favorite sci-fi romance trope! Though this human pet is more of the kinky/bdsm type. Anyway, I really enjoyed this latest Alien Mate Index book and I’m so glad that Evangeline Anderson is continuing this series

This is a favorite author who has multiple series that I enjoy, something that is a bit of a rarity. This series is different and yet similar to the Brides of the Kindred series, which is excellent by the way. Here while you have a story that centers around Earth and the women who live there, you also get a good look at the inhabitants of the Milky Way arm of the galaxy as a theory of the planets seeding for life takes you in many interesting directions.

Eliza "Elli" Thompson is living a dull life. She is a librarian who has had her hours cut to the bare minimum, is a pet nanny to her aunts many dogs , and is engaged to a man that does not excite her in the least. One thing that Elli surely never expected was to be abducted and become the the pet of an Overlord, especially an arrogant alien one. Like many before her she was sucked through a mirror at her aunts home by the Commercians and sold to a large grey alien. She may have thought her life was bad before but now things have really strange. While she at first wants nothing more than to get back home when she is told she could be the key to saving that home and her family.

All the books can be read as a stand-alone novel but reading in order makes some of the connections make more sense. These novels are also for the 18+ demographic as there is plenty of hot talk and very hot action. This gives a little of a BDSM vibe as well.

2⭐️ Yes! We got back the comedy that has been missing in 3/6 books I’ve read in this series. Aside from this, the rest of this book was stupid and Bart got on my fucking nerves. He got butthurt because he couldn’t be a slave master anymore, so instead of making a contract with her like his people do and renewing it every hear like renewing wedding vows, he overreacted and took Ellie back home without any discussion. This book was borderline racist and Bart was one of those racists. As a Black American, hearing “you are different from me, therefore inferior” from the love interest in this book made me sick and he didn’t deserve rights of any kind.
Also, I just can’t see how a “mentally superior life form” couldn’t think of a solution to be without the person he “loves”. Just dumb.
Ellie planning to trap Bart in a relationship he doesn’t want with pregnancy is INSANE.

I LOVE the AMI series so I was super excited to read this book finally!

Ellie was a little bit of a bland character for me. She went along with the whole naked-all-the-time, Master/Pet scenario, with little to no argument. She also had no problem with the Candalla which did wig me out a little.

Overall I really liked Sir, he’s a very honorable and rational character. As much as he was initially closed minded, I liked the he has a good heart and in the end just wanted people to be treated fairly.

There was definitely no shortage of heat in this book.

Overall I’d give this a 4.5.
My only complaints are that I had trouble getting into the book initially. In my opinion, it was super slow with the dog wedding talk. But once the plot progressed I understood EA’s reason for going so in-depth with Aunt Maizy’s pets.

As with all EA books, this book was very well written. From the bulk of the environment, to the tiny details, her imagination is off the charts

This book was like an episode of a kink documentary, or something, that I saw on HBO a decade or 2 ago. I was really liking it, until the black market sale. I know it's just make-believe, but I don't like to think of women being sold into slavery. The fact that the story was so over-the-top ridiculous helped though. I really like the female narrator. I liked the arousal spines, or whatever they were called on Sir's b@lls. I'm wishing those were a real thing.

So, I had zero expectations going in..

But as someone who doesn't think humans should have animals with well developed brains, such as dolphins or elephants, in captivity this story actually resonated with me✌️

The Overlord's Pet

Elli is a human girl who is engaged to a boring guy who just doesn't turn her on. During a chaotic moment involving a pooch wedding and a case of doggy diarrhea, Elli is transported through the bathroom mirror by the Commercians who sell unsuspecting females as pets to aliens. In this case Elli is bought by a Highborn Korrigan Overlord who demands she call him Sir. He therefore calls her Little One and not by her given name. During their time together at the beginning she is determined to find a way back to earth, but unfortunately this puts her in danger. She is strong willed an a La-ti-zal who has powers she could never imagine. Maybe being a pet isn't so bad but things for Elli may never be what she wants. I loved this story.

The Overlord's Pet: Book 5 of the Alien Mate Index was l dove into the moment it downloaded. I love all of Ms Evangeline Anderson's books so didnt want to wait a minute.
The start of the book took time to get into, but l was willing to indulge the slow pace because we all know the author well enough to know she always comes through in the end. I also put it down to l wasnt interested in spoilt bratty dog weddings!
Once our main character Elli was kidnapped into another realm l knew the real adventure would start. Sir is Elli's new owner and Elli is expectantly not impressed. Not only has she been kidnapped but Sir's world believes humans are nothing more than pets, and Elli is thrown into a world where she is supposed to submit to everyone of Sir's demands and call him Sir.
Sir isnt supposed to see Elli as anything sexual but as time goes on ofcourse we know he is going to see Elli as sentient and pursue her romantically.
The biggest question is can Sir keep Elli safe on a distant planet, keep to the rules of his world and make Elli realise he is who she is craving and cant live without before Elli finds more trouble she can handle, or Sir can save herself from? I suggest you grab the book today and find out.

I struggled with this book. Trigger Warning.
The writing as usual was EXCELLENT. But I struggled with the subject matter.
First we know that the Alien Mate Index books start with a kidnapping. But then the female decides to stay. But the sex and touching is consentual.
What I found disturbing in this book is that the initial intimate contact was not consentual. He put his fingers inside her without her permission and did not even have the ability to object to any of the intimate contact.
She then liked the contact and craved it. Fine. But this is also the myth that surrounds our rape culture (She really wants it but she just doesn't realize it. She just wont admit that she wants it so it is ok.).
I was ok with her wanting it. I was ok with others being treated that way who wanted to be treated that way. But that was not the case with all the pets.
I get the points that the book was outlaying about sex trafficking and the Owner/Slave relationship, but I found some of it to be disturbing because of that aspect.
So just be warned if you choose to read this one. Again, writing was EXCELLENT.

Liked this book, was definitely interesting. The only thing that really bugged me and why I took off a star is how the book tended to drag and for a sex pet book, the training parts kinda just got glossed over and I really wanted to see more instead of just ‘yeah all this happened over a couple of weeks’ while we’re focusing on this other stuff. The plot was fun! Thought nothing more frustrating than an MC that doesn’t explain anything and never really learns to 😂 I liked the darker aspects of Sir obviously implanting the idea of Elli (Little One) staying with him through dreams and enforcing their bond and then her in the end making him seal the deal essentially. This is definitely a darker romance book and the worser reviews seemed to just not have the dark romance vibes. I agree Sir is a jerk and big ol’ red flag but it’s really implied Ellie is brainwashed/biologically fucked with to be happy with him so nice to see she’s happy in the end, even if it’s not exactly what it was thought to be lmao Overall had fun reading it!

The next installment in the Alien Mate Index series was worth the wait. Elli and Sir have amazing chemistry together. Their relationship starts off rocky but grows steadily with each new adventure they face together. Their journey together makes it hard to put down the book.

Elli’s antics get her into trouble, but Sir is there to catch her. I found it ironic and hysterical that Elli got to find out what it was like to be one of her Aunt’s pampered, prized dogs.

The Overlord’s Pet takes a different direction from the previous books which leads to an entirely new galaxy for us to explore. Evangeline Anderson’s imagination must have been in overdrive with all the new and old characters! The Overlord’s Pet was a fun, spicy story, and the new galaxy opens so many possibilities. I look forward to future books in this series.

I received an ARC for an honest review.

This book took me on a wonderful adventure through the galaxies, where once again I met two characters that endeared me to them with their humor and romance. I always get a good laugh out of names Ms. Anderson gives her secondary characters as well, it's always fitting to the personality. This book brings the idea of being a "pet" to someone and being submissive to the story and these two characters grow from the particular situation. If you are a fan of Ms. Anderson, you will not be disappointed in this one. She takes us on another great journey and we get to see old friends as well, I always enjoy that part.

I’m not going to recommend this to anyone, though I don’t specifically NOT recommend it. It was kind of a wild ride compared to my usual reading preferences. But I did get interested in the story and I feel like maybe I got some perspective on kink, something I previously found just puzzlingly unappealing. I can see the appeal here even though it isn’t my thing. So an interesting compulsively readable filthy weird story. If having an alien treat you like a pet sounds exciting, this could be the book for you. If it makes you want to scream in disgust, find a different author. If you’re interested but unsure, proceed with caution and tell everyone you’re reading One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovitch on your ereader. I’m sure everyone will believe you.

Awesome!

It has been some time since the author went to back to writing this series. This book did not disappoint. It does no matter how large an alien male is. when he comes up against a strong, curvy and very sassy earth female is plans for life are changed. This was a very enjoyable read. It was a nice long read. It has all the elements of an enjoyable reading experience if you enjoy this genre. I really enjoyed this story. Having said that, it is leaving me waiting for what I hope is the next story in this series. I hope I do not have to wait too long.

This author never fails to disappoint, here we have another highly entertaining read. If you are looking for reality, well you never know what is out there in the far reaches of the Galaxy.
Elli was quite vanilla, no excitement in her life. Until she was sucked from Earth in a strange fashion...now she's a what???? She's now a pet, a naked pet! More like a BDSM novel, Sir was odd, omg he had a tail. That part grossed me out, the horns were bad enough lol.
All she wants to do is get back to Earth.
The author threw so much into this story, never a dull moment in the adventures of Elli and Sir. Will they both survive?

Awesome book!!

I have read a lot of Ms. Anderson's books. Each are so special, but Overlord's Pet really touched me. Ellis was so smart and curious and it did get her into trouble a few times. She was a very relatable character.
Sir. What a special guy! He was taken in by her beauty, but was astounded and so pleased with her abilities.
I highly recommend this book, either as a stand alone or, as I did, after the first four book.

Ms. Anderson, is book number six in the works???

This new and long awaited book in the AMI series was ok and not what I expected. I found this one not nearly as endearing, sassy and fun. There was too much master/pet interaction that seemed repetitive and I didn't like how Sir demeaned her for much of the book. This book does expand the world and give us new and interesting aliens to experience. There is a happy ending and it all ends well for Little One and Sir. Brilliant, Just As I Expected From Evangeline Anderson Fertile Imagination!

I expect brilliance in the tales that come from this authors immensely gifted and fertile imagination! I have read all of her works so far and have never been disappointed with any of them. The sheer variety of the subject matter never ceases to amaze me but her skill in bringing her characters to life is genius and I whole heartedly recommend any of her books. Spicy hot Alien and Human "pet" love story

This is definitely a spicy hot alien master and human pet love story.
*I have to be honest it was hard for me to get into and I stopped reading a few times because I was uncomfortable with the master/pet {which almost seemed like a slave relationship} story line but then I got into it and I am very glad that you I continued. It became so much more and she ended up being in some way stronger than him and she got her happily ever after
