Uriel Lad is single all the way. He enjoys his quiet life in the small town of Mistletoe Falls, running Ornamentary Books and More. This holiday, though, Uriel’s Yule Lad magic is back, which means making mischief throughout the season. It should be a perfect Christmas, until his new friend Joe begs for help with a problem.
Joe Watson loves his new life in the quaint little holiday town he’s come to call home. His happiness is threatened when his ex-boyfriend shows up unexpectedly. In a panic, Joe claims that his closest friend in Mistletoe Falls is his boyfriend—his fake boyfriend who has snow interest in love or romance.
Uriel’s magic is causing havoc in his life, and his pretend relationship with Joe is complicating matters even further. He’ll have to use every trick in the book to save his heart and make sure Joe gets the happily ever after he’s always wanted.
If you love fake boyfriends, magical mischief, and friends to lovers, you’ll want lots myrrh of this sweet holiday romance.
Macy Blake believes in unicorns and fairies, in moonbeams and stardust, and that happily ever after comes in all colors of the rainbow. When she’s not busy at the day job, she loses herself in paranormal romance, living vicariously through her favorite sexy fictional heroes. These days you can often find her pounding away at the keyboard, trying to capture the magic of her own worlds.
More of the same with the puns and the pranks. A little repetitive at the beginning with a chunk of copy and paste for Uriel's part. Joe was a good fit for Uriel with how he handled him and joined in with the pranks. Not that curious about Leif and West. Definitely tell its light hearted with the restraining order ex going away after being told no. Would've been funny if one of the hellhounds did actually turn up after the illusion.

This is the second book in Yule Lads series, and the books are best enjoyed in order. While there’s not much of a continuing through plot, there are minor details that carry over and others that set up the rest of the books in the series. For me, this story was a bit of a mixed bag. While it has the trademark humor of the series (and of the Christmas Sprites from last year), it also felt a little rushed and unfinished. I enjoyed both Uriel and Joe, their friendship and they way they relate to each other, and the ease with which not only do they realize they are in love, but that they move into their happily ever after. The hijinks are harmless and a bit amusing, the puns over the top, but it all gives it a playful feel that really works well for the series. The MCs work well together on every level, and I really enjoyed their connection. So that went a long way for me in this book.
This was a cute story about another Lad cousin. It all starts as fake boyfriends, and then (of course) moves on to love and fated mates and an HEA, with mischief and old friends. I can’t wait for the next book!
Frosted Gingersnaps! Macy Blake outdid herself! a fab holiday read!
Rating: 5🌈
Frosted Gingersnaps! Macy Blake outdid herself! Uriel: Yule Lads Book Two by Macy Blake is fabulous, just another fabulous fantasy Christmas read.
I loved last year’s Sprites finding their mates and reclaiming their magic in Mistletoe Falls but Macy Blake is being extra spicy with her Yule Lads!
The Yule Lads are that tiny bit of naughty to balance out the outstanding “nice” of the Sprites, the naughty falling more to playful pranks than anything else, with a twinkle in their eyes. Definitely up to “snow good”.
But with Uriel, Blake has fun not only with the pranks but with naughty book titles (Uriel owns Ornamentary Books and More). So we get hilarious Riding Rudolf, amongst others, that are shared with fellow book lover, Joe Watson. Joe, who loves his books, also runs the Snowda Shoppe, dispensing seasonal coffees and treats alike. But unlike the Yule Lads, Joe is very human with a human problem. One that comes to town.
Blake brings Uriel and his Joe together in a funny, magical way. It’s got puns galore, a mutual love of books and a slightly naughty perspective on things. Also fabulously , there’s red sparkles of magic coating everything as Uriel realizes he’s found himself a mate in Joe and got his magic back.
This is such a heartwarming romance and punny path to a magical HEA that’s it’s really going to keep a smile on the reader’s face and make them feel like they’re part of the whole Mistletoe Falls Christmas magic.
I hope Blake keeps this going past the Yule Lads, it’s a fantastic place to keep coming home to at Christmas time.
In the second Yule Lads boom we pick up with Uriel - bookstore owner - and best friend Joe, as Joe's ex turns up looking for him, ready to interfere in his life. Half the town already think they're together, so getting Uriel to pretend to be his boyfriend to keep Javier away isn't a hard call. Of course the town protects its own, so Sprites and Yule Lads all help keep Joe free of harassment. There's lots of fun and laughter - especially with the new book club reads, more pranks, chemistry and romance. Plus drama at the Christmas tree farm.
I am loving this series! The Yule Lads go a-punning & a-pranking. Look for the cousins to add merriment to all the Yule traditions in Mistletoe Falls. Magic is still unstable, sure to get even the Grinch smiling. Uriel and Joe are perfect together. Even a persistent ex can't put a damper on their Bliss. Add in two very naughty books and you have a play book for some hot sex. Come. Join them & the rest of the Lads & sprites as they continue to plague the mayor with their over the top hijinks. You are simply gonna love this book!
I have to say that eventually Joe started to grate on me. He started as this shy guy who was all nervous and then just becomes this walking pun machine who has no problem using Uriel as a fake/then real boyfriend in record time. The ex just seemed lame and not someone who should have been more scary if he had a restraining order. I just found Joe was very scattery and he made me tired. So I didn't love it but it was fine. Heresy to the die-hard fans I know. LOL I'll try the next one.
Uriel and Joe were really cute in this friends to lovers romance. One kiss was all it took for these two to realize they belonged together. In the middle of Lad mischief, small town gossip and an ex-boyfriend who won't go away, Uriel and Joe find time for Christmas puns and alone time to seal their bond as mates.
Such a funny book. Filled with puns and play on words, and baaaaaad jokes LOL.
This was a fun fake-dating trope romance, but is mostly filled with pranks and chaos. This also has overlap with the first book of the Yule Lads, so I would recommend reading that one since you'll see the same scenes a couple times.
This was another fun addition to the Yule Lads series. There are lots of laughs and some hijinks as well. I kind of want to read the Groping the Grinch series now though.
It's a very fun and cute holiday read. Uriel and Joe were perfect for each other. Though I was disappointed when I searched for "groping the grinch" and found it didn't exist. 🥺 I can't wait for the next installment.
Gotta love a good grumpy/sunshine romance and this was another fabulous read from the amazing Macy Blake with “grinch” Uriel coming out of his shell for his puntastict mate
Uriel and Joe were the perfect pair! One grumpy bookstore owner and a holiday loving mystery reader. Macy Blake creates books that are not only fun, punny and crazy, she also creates worlds that are thought provoking. Loved this story! Highly Recommended
I liked this a bit more than the first book in the series. It was a more complete story and I liked the connection between the two main characters more. I especially enjoyed the banter between Joe and Uriel.
Most of what Joe says just doesn't make sense to me and he kinda rubbed me the wrong way. Uriel and the cousins are cool. I like a little mischief in a man especially with magic and where no one gets harmed.
This was a struggle to get through. So many puns. I could maybe handle one or two, but they kept coming and coming. I think it would have helped to read book #1 in the series first, but I'm not interested enough to continue.
These books are sooo sweet and fun. Uriel is a naughty bookstore owner and Joe is his adorable hyperactive mate. They are so cute together and the hijinx are fun.
