Earl Hebner used hard work and determination to become the most recognizable officiating name in professional wrestling, if not "the greatest of all time." Starting in Virginia as ring crew, he gained the respect of Dusty Rhodes and Ric Flair, going on to referee NWA's biggest events. Then, in front of 33 million fans, Earl debuted on WWF's most-watched event ever as the evil twin ref who stole Hulk Hogan's title. As WWE senior official, he played an integral part in "The Montreal Screwjob", calling an unplanned controversial finish that screwed Bret Hart out of his championship for real. For four decades, he worked with the biggest names and banners everywhere, including Impact and AEW. Read The Official Story now!
Was good to hear Earl’s take on Montreal. He has some really good stories. Written by Earl and Kenny Casanova who has written/put out some really good wrestling books. If you are a wrestling fan and/or were scarred by Earl from the Hogan incident or the Montreal incident than this is a MUST read!
One thing that makes wrestling books from Kenny Casanova's WOHW Publishers is not only does he get wrestling characters who aren't always mainstream in terms of huge wrestling names, but that the stories and honesty of the subject provide more than some books from major publishers may provide in the genre. The writers give an honest detail of Hebner's career, giving stories about many of the wrestlers and personalities (including other referees) and the format is the normal layout of the other books by the company. Wrestling fans will enjoy the stories and some of the back history of the wrestling world mixed in as well, but many will want to see Hebner's take on the Bret situation, which is another reason to check this out. If you are a pro wrestling fan and followed the WWF back in the Hulkamania days l, you’ll know Earl Hebner. This is a very cool book of Earl’s point of view of the legendary storylines of the time as well as some of the more serious real life situations like Owen Hart’s accident. This book is truly like a trip down memory lane for any old school WWF wrestling fan!
