Inspired by the great storm of 1890 near Louisville, KY. An arranged meeting of two adults that society has deemed ready to begin courtship, Triston and Laura are gently nudged toward each other by the masters of their manors. While they are both solidly against being arranged with anyone, after they met, it may not be so bad.
Will tragedy bring them together further or drive them apart?
I know this is a novella, and the story was not meant to be long, but I found myself wanting more. The characters weren't explored as deeply as they could have been, and the relationship between the love interests wasn't exactly compelling. Still, it was a quick (hour-long), light read for me, and I did enjoy it.
Now I really liked this one. It was exactly what I was looking for and I even want to read it again on my next beach trip. I can say it was really entertaining and I my eyes were fixed on the words not even wanting to blink. Now I will add Trish to my list of good reads.
