Ugh... so okay, did I love the smut? Yes. Was it a 10 minutes read? Yes. Did it make me absolutely uncomfortable Oli was the heroine's grandfather? Also yes. Most important question: is this a super short (and very forgettable) novella but I still can't look past the fact that he previously was in a relationship with her grandma (no specifics if he actually ever fucked her, but I take it as a yes) and now he's ALSO banging and is engaged to his niece...? YES and this whole thing irked me. As I said I can't look past it so 👎🏼

Just the tip gives spicy a whole new meaning. Please, please, please save this for a quiet night in. This is not an audiobook for the car or train. Unless you want to blush harder than ever before.

Just the tip is a sexy story which starts with a mysterious man breaking in but this is a consensual interaction. He’s an older man and she’s up for all the naughty fun.

Not that it matters, but I think the lollipop in the cover isn’t the right shape. I think it’s one of those long thin ones rather than round which features in the story.

Ash Beverley reads the male narration which adds a layer of darkness to this story while Angelina Rocca keeps us sweet but certainly not innocent. This is a quick read, about an hour and the twists keep the story interesting while the smuttiness never lets up.

ALC Review:
It’s been a rough month of reading for me—lots of DNF books and several I just wasn’t wowed about. Honestly, I don’t know what’s going on with me. But I do know that smutty novellas often act as a reset. Thankfully, I had Jenika Snow’s ALC in the cue!

Just the T!p, with a duet narration by Ash Beverly & Angelina Rocca runs about an hour+. Listeners will get a big 30-year age gap, a masked shmalker who has his way with the FMC using—well, the t!p. The t!p of his—you know, I’m not going to spoil that fun. There are various t!ps. And Ash Beverly’s performance is wonderfully expressive and vocal.

Angelina Rocca is a favorite narrator of mine as she adapts well with a variety of characters she plays and those she co-narrates with.

Though I had read the novella a while ago, I did not remember how it ended, so it was a lovely surprise how it wrapped up.

Thank you to Author Jenika Snow for the gifted ALC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.


Book Review Dec. 4. 2023

Author Jenika Snow packs in so much within 48 pages for her latest, “Just the Tip.” Please check the TW/CWs, though, because it’s long. From the start, readers should know what they are getting into—the tone is set in the prologue, and it’s super shminky. Much like most of Jenika Snow’s stories, this is not for everyone. It’s a 30-year age gap, and the MMC is the step-grandfather—note he’s on the youngerish side for “grandpas” because grandma likes them young. For readers with no triggers who love a good age gap with forbidden/taboo romance, “Just the Tip” is for you.

I received a copy of this book for free and am leaving this review voluntarily.

So, yes. This happened.

I picked this up for one reason and one reason only: Angelina Rocca was narrating it.

This is a short, filthy, masked-man erotica novella that spends about five minutes pretending we are here for family dinner dynamics and then immediately kicks the bedroom door open and says “We are here for the kink.” And kink is what you get!

And honestly, fair enough. It’s a kinky novella. I did not go into this expecting a grand psychological excavation of taboo desire, family-adjacent scandal, and the moral architecture of erotic role-play. I expected smut, a mask, some “oh no, how forbidden” energy, and a plot that exists mostly, so everyone has somewhere to stand before the sex starts.

The problem for me is that the mask was never the interesting part.

You basically know who is behind it almost immediately. SERIOUSLY! So the whole masked intruder fantasy has shock value, but not much actual tension. What did interest me was what happened after the mask came off: the dynamic, the secret relationship, the taboo of it all, the “how the hell are we explaining this at Christmas dinner?” implications.

I would have loved that, and I wish the book had bitten down harder here.

Because the forbidden angle could have been nastier, messier, funnier, more psychologically charged. Instead, it mostly becomes a shortcut into the smut. Which, again, is not a crime. The book knows what it is. But the taboo setup had more potential than the novella really used. I wanted less “masked man does masked man things” and more of the deliciously deranged emotional logistics of "that man" being the man behind the mask.

Still, for what it is, it’s quick, extreme, ridiculous, and fully committed to its own horny little circus. It does not ask to be taken seriously, and I respect that. Sometimes a novella simply arrives, says “surprise, taboo smut,” makes direct eye contact, and leaves. I was just a tad bored..

Jenika Snow doesn't play when it comes to kink and Just the Tip might take you on the type of adventure you aren't quite ready for. For someone like me who doesn't have many triggers and finds just about anything sexy if the story is told correctly this book was an easy win for me. Not to mention my certain... proclivities for the naughty occurrences found within these pages.

"But if I'm being honest, little girl, I want to slice this pretty flesh and watch it turn red with your blood."

Yes, there is an age-gap and I have seen several people turned off because of said age-gap and the taboo nature it brings forth. For me, it just added another level of dirty deliciousness I was entirely here for.

"Fucking love you crying while your mouth is full of my cock."

There are plenty of reviews out there telling you what you will find within the pages of this book but with it sitting at around just 50 pages I say, read Jenika's blurb and the triggers then dive on in. You might find a new kink or two you like.

I thought a few bits were hot, but overall this didn't really vibe with me, npi. YES I read all the kinks + CWs beforehand, so I wasn't clutching my pearls - but I also wasn't clutching my pearl either, IYKWIM 😏.

◦ Main issue: For my personal taste, the proportion of praise to degradation - known in kink math as the P:D Ratio - was skewed too far towards D.
◦ Didn't love the way a couple other kinks played out.
◦ Was it only me? Because I expected an actual coaxing-type 'just the tip' scene. Probably just me. I take things too literally sometimes. 🤷‍♀️

* note about the ending (⚠ warning big spoiler):
HFN. The story is (surprise!?) just CNC roleplay between a couple in a long term secret relationship. They've been engaged for a year. I realize why the author chose this, but I also felt it implied he's been too afraid to tell their family 😒.
