Serenity is a warrior set on destroying the invading Watchers who are in search of something. After an ambush leaves her and her brothers hiding, their mother dead and father missing, disaster strikes, and she's captured. The head Watcher's son whisks her away through a portal and into enemy territory. He knows what his parents are after, and why. Will he choose to follow their wishes? Or will he forge his own path? What betrayals lurk on the other side? And can Serenity rise up to face them?
I wanted to enjoy this book. I liked the idea it brought forth. But there's multiple footnotes and none of them pertain to the story. They're notes for editing and serializing chapters. There's even a part where the text becomes an indented paragraph and ends with (Savannah left off here) as if someone working on the transcript left a note mid story to show that.
