“The rain falls on the righteous and the unrighteous alike...”
Still reeling from the dark revelations of Miriam Carter-Blanc, FBI consultant Sophie Quinn is hot on the trail of the man who destroyed her family, the River Killer. But as conspiracies and cover-ups surface, Sophie is faced with threats closer to home, and she and her partner, Agent Jonathan Greer, find themselves caught in a web of corruption that threatens not only their careers but their lives.
A Category Five hurricane tears through Louisiana, and as duty and obsession pull her in opposite directions, Sophie finds herself trapped in the ancestral home of the obscenely wealthy Gardiner family.
The first-born son of the Gardiner patriarch is dead, murdered while his family slept. But as accusations fly and decades-old secrets come to light, the heir to the Gardiner fortune is only the first victim. And locked behind storm shutters as 150-mile-an-hour winds decimate the region outside, Sophie is certain of only one truth: everyone is a suspect… and no one is innocent.
Having worked on projects with New York Times Bestsellers and USA Today bestsellers, Georgia Wagner recently hit #1 bestseller with her newest series. Location and character are two big factors for Georgia, and getting those right allows the story to flow seamlessly onto the page. And flow it does, because Georgia is so prolific a new term is required to describe the rate at which nerve-tingling stories find their way into print.
When not found attached to a laptop, Georgia likes spending time in local arboretums, among the trees and ponds. An avid cultivator of orchids, begonias, and all things floral, Georgia also has a strong penchant for art, paintings, and sculptures. A many-decades-long passion for mystery novels and years of chess tournament experience makes Georgia the perfect person to pen the Artemis Blythe series. That's where it all started, but the drive to craft thrilling mystery tales soon demanded new characters in new locations.
I love this series, this one sees Sophie Quinn FBI consultant is still on the trail of RK ( River Killer) . She and Jonathan Greer FBI Agent , find themselves stuck in a storm in a mansion of murder! Trapped in the ancestral Gardiner Mansion, the Patriarch is found dead while his family ( and heirs) slept . The first murder victim , then decades of lies and secrets belie when it appears others too must die…Fingers are pointed and trust issues are raised. With 150 mile an hour winds decimating outside, it’s a surefire thing that this mansion has a killer with in its walls… Deadly dwelling indeed! Brilliant ,immersive and suspenseful thriller of a story. Written perfectly by Georgia Wagner, who has a finger on the pulse of intrigue and suspense , she crafts her books with solid characters, deadly storytelling prowess and sublime descriptors that have you on the edge of your seat and gritting your teeth, heart pumping marvellously in awe of the narration. Unputdownable reading . I thoroughly enjoyed the tense, binge reading experience. I was forwarded the book and I’m leaving my review voluntarily in my own thoughts
Sophie and Greer are back in this nail biter. There's a suspicious death in a noted mafia family, and both Greer and Sophie get suspicious when Hitchins assigns it to someone who is off for two days. They decide to investigate on their own, and all hell breaks loose after that. Intense, easy to read, fast-paced with a tiny bit of romance thrown in. An awesome book!
The hurricane outside was nothing compared to the storm happening inside the mansion. A strong addition to this series with a shocking end to a tumultuous story. What can happen next? I can't wait for it, I know it's going to be good. Highly Recommended.
