Celeste King is the author behind the Worlds of Protheka, a collection of interconnected series that promise dark fantasy, intense romance, and washboard abs. When it comes to her stories, there are sure to brooding alphas, sassy humans, and plenty of spice to look forward to.
With the ever growing fantasy worlds, the 'what ifs' are endless, and that is what excites her the most. Even she doesn't know just how far these characters will go, but she's gladly along for the ride.
You can always find her fearlessly diving into an adventure (in this world or another), typically with her husband, and partner in crime, at her side.
She helps keep the excitement alive for the rest us with each of her Prothekan works, where there are no heroes coming to save you and being kidnapped...isn't so bad when your captor is this hot.

This is my first time reading a book by Celeste King and I had absolutely no idea what to expect. I decided to give this book a chance because I love romance stories about Orc's and well, this cover intrigued me. Celeste did not let me down and honestly, Taken By The Orc Crime Lord far exceeded my expectations. Celeste delivered an original plot, with lots of action, wonderful characters, and some very hot intimate scenes making for one entertaining read. Rurgash is one hot sexy alpha Orc who will do anything to keep the human woman he loves protected. He is loyal to his clan and cherishes his Orcan family. Kinley begins this story as a damsel in distress who appears to be weak and mousy. Thank goodness somewhere along the way Kinley decides to make some changes to herself and find her true potential...just maybe she isn't as weak as everyone believed. I am looking forward to reading more books by this author and if they are anything like this one then I know I am in for a treat.
Rurgash and Kinley first lay eyes on one another when she witness him murdering someone in an alley. There is an instantaneous attraction that will not disappear. Rurgash begins to stalk Kinley because she is his and he plans on keeping her by his side. His boss assigns him to kidnap a human woman to make a statement for others as a reminder not to mess with them. Once Rurgash has captured his little bird he will do anything to ensure she never escapes. He wants to mate her, but knows this is impossible because Orc's and humans are not allowed to be in a relationship. This is where I will leave off with my review as I do not want to give anything away. I feel the less you know about this story the better your overall reading experience will be and trust me you want to go into this book blind.

Kinley (h) struggles to eke out an existence as a human working in a factory in Jurtil, ostensibly a dark elf run city but in reality it’s the bastion of orc organized crime. Taking an alleyway shortcut late at night Kinley sees Rurgash (H), a leader in the orc syndicate, brutally murder another orc, and when he catches her watching, there’s an unspoken connection between the two. Rurgash, drawn to Kinley despite the rules of his orc clan forbidding interactions with humans, begins stalking her at every opportunity and relishes his new order to kidnap a human woman, knowing exactly who he’s planning on taking. He takes Kinley captive and keeps her in his quarters within the orc compound, determined to make her his. Things are rough between the two emotionally and physically, but Kinley’s strengths begin to shine through as their dark relationship progresses. Kinley and Rurgash feed off one another and under his tutelage she becomes an extremely skilled powerhouse with a penchant for violence. Ultra-hot and steamy dark orc-human romance with rough sexy scenes and lots of violence and mayhem.
This is a very dark read, with lots of violence, bloodshed and a twisted sexual energy. I was very happy once Kinley got over her, “they deserved that”, attitude. It got a bit old when she seemed to feel like everyone deserved to mistreated.
Kinley was definitely the moth to Rurgash’s flame. They both kept saying they shouldn’t be involved or with the other person but they kept seeking each other out despite knowing what the consequences would be once their relationship was brought to light.
The only softness in Rurgash was towards Kinley, everyone else he would dispatch without missing a step.
As the story unfolds into even greater darkness is when Kinley seems to blossom and becomes a much darker force to match Rurgash as they get their dark HEA.
I received an ARC and I am leaving an honest review.
Engaging story that is about Kinley a factory worker who and Rurgash an Orc Crime Lord. Walking home from the factory Kinley sees Rurgash killing an orc vender who was cheating him. Rurgash is bewilder by Kinley and knows he should kill her but doesn't. Chanting the phrase "Human women are forbidden." to himself. Meanwhile Kinley runs to her apartment that she shares with Azaria who asks what happened. Kinley can't get the Orc whom she finds attractive out of her mind. What occurs as their attraction draws them together is an engaging story with likable characters with chemistry, action, drama, and romance in this copy I received and volunteer to read and review.
'The forbidden has revealed herself to me, and I broke all the rules so quickly that I didn’t even need to catch my breath. All I know is that she might be forbidden, but I do need to see her again.'
I really enjoyed this book. Orcs + mafia? Yes please. Good world building. I liked both Rurgash and Kinley. I liked how strongly Rurgash was drawn to her once he laid eyes on her and couldn't keep away. The story had action, danger, violence, and suspense. Even Kinley at some point has to step up. 4 stars.
This book I thought was going to be a light novel but turns out it is very dark. So if you don’t like that don’t buy this. Saying that it was a good read. Rurgash is in the mafia and is not only rough but rough too. He is dangerous and dominant but that seems to be ok with Kinley. She is a human to his orc. She thinks she is taken by a monster but turns out it is just what she likes. She evolves into his perfect mate.
Human Kinley and Orc Rurgash's very dark story. the story is well written with a good storyline that held my interest from cover to cover. The story is well worth reading. I enjoyed seeing them get their ups and downs get their happy ending. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Dark Protheka... The world of the orcs is one of my favorites, and the twist that this story presents hooked me from the beginning... This Lord does not know what he is facing when he meets this little human!.

I am giving 3.5 stars. I am having trouble really pinpointing what didn’t work for me. I think it just felt slow. I loved it when Kinley figured out who she really was and went the b@da$$ route. I didn’t care for when she was so disgusted with herself for being with Rurgash.

This had to be the worst book I’ve ever read, I made it to 70% and DNF’d it. It has weird undertones between the elf and orcs. the way dark elves were described as “disgusting dirty creatures” and making them addicts made me very uncomfortable to read.
I enjoyed this book. I thought the story was interesting and it held my attention well. The chemistry between Kinley and Rurgash was powerful, and I thought they worked well together as a couple.
I have no idea where Celest gets these stories but they are soo good and Protheka is sooo large that you can barely keep up. But each story tells a journey that start off as enemies and end up more than just lovers.
Kinley sees Rurgash performing his duties of 5he syndicate and becomes his obsession. But as Rurgash b3comes obsessed with Kinley so does she for him. As she comes to grips with her obsession, so does he. What I love is seeing the inner dialogues ant the same time the resistances from both to each other and this societal action and rules.
