As it turns out, the Big Island is full of its own shady characters, and Charlie is hired to bring one of them to justice. But as she gets closer to finding the man who shot Jake, Charlie realizes he's going to stop at nothing to keep his freedom. Even if that means getting rid of Charlie. Will Charlie be able to bring him to justice, or is everything about to blow up in her face?

I'm not sure I care for the evolution of Charlie. This character has gone from hapless ice cream scooper to super sleuth P.I., at least in her own mind. I think I liked her better a little on the lucky side instead of this know-it-all (with a lot of help from Rosie and Dot) invincible P.I. She was always smart, observant and willing to take a risk, I really liked those qualities about Charlie. This time around she comes off as being arrogant and a know it all. Not my favorite qualities. Then there is her condescending attitude toward Liam, Jake's partner. Not at all a good look. I really like this series, but this book just didn't show Charlie at her best. She comes off as childish and uncooperative.
This time around Charlie is determined to find the perp that shot Jake and she isn't going to let anything, anything stand in her way. She is even willing to work with Liam, Jake's partner whom she doesn't like, at all. They have tracked Jerod, the perp, to the Big Island of Hawaii and are doggedly in pursuit. Charlie has her way of tracking Jerod and Liam has his. It just so happens that they end up in the same destinations. Charlie can make friends, the owner of a much-loved restaurant, and enemies, the nasty piece of work trying to put that restaurant out of business, the growers at a pot farm, wherever she goes. But Charlie is in hot pursuit of Jerod and I mean that literally.

Volcano Violence by Jasmine Webb is book 10 in the Charlotte Gibson Mystery series.
WOW! This book did not disappoint at all! Charlie is out for revenge to catch the person who shot her cop boyfriend Jake. She heads to the big island to find him.
This installment was filled with action and of course Charlie had a lot going on. Not only was she trying to find the perp, but she also had a couple side mysteries to solve.
The author did a fantastic job seamlessly integrating the two smaller mysteries into the larger arc of the story.
I learned so much about the Hawaiian Islands, the authors research is so authentic.
The characters are well developed, and I love the romance between Charlie and Jake.
It was fun to see Charlie in a different setting. Highly recommend this book and the entire series!

Predictable. Boss girl with sexton cop boyfriend. She tells him he has to let her be her own tough self. He backs down. Author also includes the obligatory social justice slant. Elon Musk- Bad! Alpha male idiot - bad! 2 dimensional characters. This author has written better.

Interesting
I loved this book. It was a great adventure into the big island. Charlie just falls into interesting places like a coffee plantation and an active volcano. There are criminals everywhere and Charlie aims to get them.

Big surprise on Big Island
Nothing is what Charlie expects when looking for the guy who hurt Jake. Before the trip even starts things go sideways and trouble heats up

Good read
I enjoy your books. I love your sense of humor. The only thing I didn't like was the politics you put in this book. I read fiction to get away from political views.

Least favorite book of the series because Charlie worked a case on another island while Jake, Dot, Rosie, Zoe, etc. stayed home. Fewer interactions with her crew made it these enjoyable.
Read
February 11, 2026(E) This was a fun read, especially since Charlie was on the big island -- it made me nostalgic for Hawaii Volcanoes NP. I liked that Charlie and Liam had to work together. Ha! And I liked that she made friends on the island, who I'm hoping might appear in future installments. This was a perfect "palate cleanser" after that beefy book on the Grand Canyon.
