The author blends the genres of 'chosen one young adult' trope with epic fantasy to give this rich tale of bravery and friendship, set in the fictional land of Gajdweep (similar to life in Ancient India).

The book starts with a beautiful description of a lush forest, where our hero Rudra emerges victorious in saving his uncle's sheep from the jaws of ruthless wolves.
Much to the worry of his family, he excels in archery in a land where it's forbidden to practice.

His tribe is one of the 9 supposedly independent kabila villages under the rule of a tyrannical Sardar, who demands an annual selection of 10 volunteers for a 'secret mission'. Rudra's father, Govind, ends up getting selected, and the family bids him a sorrowful farewell.

After a few days, it's announced that Govind was caught stealing and is sentenced to lifelong in prison. Completely distraught, Rudra seeks the help of his friends Sukesh and Vikram to rescue his virtuous father from such undeserving torture.

This perilous journey leads them to an adventure of a lifetime with escalating events and fills a reader with excitement, thrill, and apprehension of what happens next, dramatic events of the changing politics and military landscape that will determine the entire fate of Gajdweep.

I loved the friendship of Rudra-Sukesh-Vikram, Rudra-Dhruva, Meera-Revati, and Rakshak-Pratap. These strong characters have their own unique strengths that is endearing to read. Even negative characters like Dushyant and King Tamas are well-written, their actions shrewd, and motives selfish.

The depictions of scenes throughout were vivid and lifelike, with unexpected plot twists that keep readers hooked to their seats. The battle scenes are definitely the most immersive. The romance between Rudra and Meera is dreamlike, and I wished to read more of that.
If you grew up loving epic heroic tales of Hatim, Prithviraj Chauhan, Bahubali, do check out this electrifying book.

Lost in the Epic of Surya Pradesh

'The Rise of Surya Pradesh' debut novel of Author Sagar isn't just a story; it's an experience. Where Rudra, our fearless Kabila boy, embarks on a whirlwind of adventure that will leave you breathless and we also witness the raw power as well as true bliss of friendship as Rudra and Dhruva's bond evolves, a testament to the true meaning of loyalty.

I was so intrigued throughout my reading journey. While Rudra initially captured my heart, it was Meera who truly stole the show. Her strength, resilience, and unwavering intelligence are an inspiration. The theme of friendship deeply resonated with me, as I've experienced similar bonds in my own life. What struck me most was Meera's courage in the face of adversity, which inspired me to reflect on my own bravery. I like how the scenes were so vivid to me all thanks to the author who has really written very descriptive scenes where one could easily imagine it. So, prepare to be swept away by a world teeming with vibrant cultures and breathtaking landscapes. Author Sagar masterfully blends fantasy with political intrigue, creating a tapestry of adventure that will keep you hooked from the very first page.

Beyond the thrilling escapism, 'The Rise of Surya Pradesh' delves into profound themes of identity, duty, and the choices that shape our destiny. This is a story that will stay with you long after you turn the final page, reminding you of the importance of standing up for what's right, even when the odds seem insurmountable.

So, If you crave a story that will ignite your imagination and leave you pondering its deeper meaning, then 'The Rise of Surya Pradesh' is an absolute must-read. Happy Reading

This is a captivating book which unfolds the story of a Kabila boy named Rudra. A Secret Mission was ongoing under a cruel Sardar who has been torturing kabila villagers for the past forty years. When Rudra learns that his father has been imprisoned under this secret mission, he bravely decides to stand up against Sardar to rescue him. However, unexpected things happen where Sardar dies, and Rudra becomes the prime suspect of his death.

One thing I really liked about this book is the unbreakable bond of friendship between Rudra, Dhruv and Meera. These characters are truly inspiring and represent courage, dedication, determination and bravery.

At first I was hesitant to read this book, because such an action-packed story was new to me, but when I started reading I was surprised.

The plot is so captivating that I am unable to put it down. It is a page-turner book. I love the narrative style and the pace of the book is very fast which makes it an enjoyable read.

Book Review: The Rise of Surya Pradesh
Author: Sagar Paliwal

This is a Fantasy novel that deals with an imaginarive fictional story in the days of kings and kingdoms.

Accordingly the story involves kings, princes, succession issues, court rules, trainings in gurukuls, wars and what not! Now it looks like a fantasy, but history has plenty of such stories to remind us they were reality once. Added to these usual elements, author has introduced a tribal hero who boldly questions the authority and rebels against the prevailing order and goes on to become a central figure in the battles of kingdoms surpassing all odds.

In this interesting narrative which transports the readers to that era, there happens to be a big island called Gajadweep which is divided into three separate kingdoms, Surya Pradesh being the biggest followed by Jal Pradesh and Van pradesh. Whereas the other two kingdoms are having kings Van pradesh is under occupation of an outsider, with its king imprisoned for 40 longyears after a great war by the time the story is told.

Suryapradesh comprises of many "kabila" villages which are ruled by a tyrannical sardar where the
hero of the book ,Rudra, lives in one of the villages. He is a young boy, son of Govind and is adept in archery by self learning. He has two bosom friends, who also indulge in practicing archery alongwith him.

Sardar takes away every year, a few people from every Kabila village for a mysterious " Secret Mission" and nobody knows what is that mission and whether the persons taken will come back safe or not.

When Sardar takes away Govind, story's tempo increases. Family of Govind becomes sad, but somehow pulls on hoping Govind would return after one year. However, under strange circumstances, Govind was accused of theft and imprisoned for life by Sardar. This is too much a humiliating shock to the whole family as the people in Kabila seem to believe Govind was indeed a thief forgetting his clean and honest past.Rudra's mother who was reluctant to allow Rudra to practice archery now agrees with the view point oand permits Rudra to seek warrior skills and to fight for his father. Rudra learns advance skills in a Gurukul in the nearby forest where he makes friendship with Dhruva, not knowing his real identity. He also befriends a giri Mira comes to seek knowledge from the same guru, again not knowing her real identity

After his training Rudra proceeds to rescue his father alongwith two of his dear friends and unexpectedly encounters the dreaded Sardar himself. The rescue mission attracts the King's attention and Rudra and his team get arrested on murder charges.

Story proceeds further with many twists to showcase the important developments in the kingdoms of Surya Pradesh and Jal Pradesh.
There is a lot of interesting twists but what stands out is the bond of friendship of Rudra and Dhruv and the friendship turned love between Rudra and Mira. The secret of secret mission of Sardar gets more mysterious as the story progresses. It has interesting and grand ending.

It is like watching the movies like Bahubali. Story runs at a fast pace and the language is easy to read.Even youngsters can enjoy this book and the characters are build up with meticulous care, though I felt the war scenes could have benn shortened a bit.

Overall, it is a fast paced novel and enjoyable for the people who are interested in this genre. I congratulate the author for his work and expect more such works to come in this line from his pen, or say, laptop.

Whoa. What a wild ride! The Rise of Surya Pradesh is a gripping tale of rebellion, betrayal and buried secrets that just won’t stay buried. Forty years of silence. Forty years of pain. Until one boy said, enough.

Enter Rudra – fierce, loyal and burning with purpose. When he discovers his father is imprisoned in a brutal secret mission, he dares to challenge the cruel Sardar… and everything begins to unravel.

Suddenly, Rudra is blamed for a death he didn’t cause, war clouds gather over Surya Pradesh and a deadly enemy awakens after decades in the shadows. But in the chaos – there’s friendship, unexpected love and a hero who might just change everything.

With enemies rising on both borders, secret missions, buried truths and a war that’s been simmering for decades, this novel throws you right into the eye of the storm. The tension doesn’t let up and just when you think you’ve figured it out… boom, another twist.

This story is full of secrets, sacrifices, heart and hope. War may be inevitable but so is courage.
And sometimes, the strongest warriors are the ones with the most to lose.

This novel is a rollercoaster of secrets, strategy and soul. If you like stories where the stakes are high and the truth hides in shadows, this one’s worth every page.

Some lines from this book -

Their village Bhanu Kabila was one of the nine Kabila villages near the forest area. As per their Kabila culture, all the nine Kabila villages were ruled by a Sardar.

Friendship is not just about sharing the happy moments, it's about standing by your friends in need.

Gajdweep was an island that looked like the face of an elephant hence hence it was named Gajdweep which means "The Elephant Island". The trunk of the elephant was Jal Pradesh surrounded by water, the ear of the elephant was Van Pradesh surrounded by forests and the rest of the face of the elephant was Surya Pradesh, the largest State of Gajdweep.

Friendship broken due to misunderstanding doesn't remain broken for long and when it ties up, the bond becomes unbreakable.

Sometimes things are in front of our eyes, but we need a different perspective to see them.

It's hard to prepare for a war, harder to fight one and hardest to face the aftermath of it.

🌺A kabila boy , rudra , a very fierce, stubborn, brave with a determination to free his father from a crime - which he never committed, starts his journey towards a secret mission. The mission that brings people to death and families to suffer . On this journey, he found very well buried secrets and the reason for his grandfather's death .

🌺Meera , a princess of Jal pradesh, takes on a mission to change the tradition of Jal pradesh. The tradition to not involve women in politics, in bettle fields or not engaging in activities that a prince of jal pradesh do to serve their land . Meera is always aimed to empower the women of Jal pradesh break the long ancient tradition by proving herself as a deserved future queen

🌺Dhruva , prince of Suryapradesh. A crown prince with a heart of gold and too humble for the people of suryapradesh. Ready to fight and Burry the enemies of his beloved and his friends.

🌺The story takes a dramatic turn and unfolds such plots when destiny oaths to cross their paths. Together, they made decisions in favor of humanity and peace of Gajdweep. Fought for their people, freedom, justice, to destroy the demon of darkness and develops peace among Gajdweep.
Their friendship takes drastic and dramatic turns, which keeps the reader hooked up from start to end. It was fun to read the whole mythological story with such delightful plots and secrets . At some point, i felt like the story was being rushed, and the characters were too many and felt crowded. Some things still made no sense to me and left me questioning the aim behind that.

🌺Overall, I loved the book . It's very light historical fiction with so much drama and plots. I would definitely love to read more of sagar sir's book.

The Rise of Surya Pradesh masterfully blends historical fiction and fantasy, transporting readers into a vividly crafted world. The novel introduces a fascinating Kabila system and diverse kingdoms, each uniquely shaped by its geography, making the world-building both immersive and engaging.

One of the book’s biggest strengths lies in its detailed character development. The vivid descriptions allow readers to deeply connect with the characters, while the intense battle scenes add excitement and depth to the story.

Beyond the action-packed plot, the novel beautifully explores themes of integrity, duty, friendship, love, sacrifice, and the importance of family and relationships.

The well-structured storyline ensures a satisfying reading experience, with all loose ends tied up neatly.

A standout feature is the map, which enhances the storytelling by making it easier to visualize and relate to the plot. With its fast-paced, engaging narrative, this book is a true page-turner.

The war sequences are masterfully written, adding both depth and emotion. With a cinematic touch, this story has all the makings of a captivating movie adaptation.

📚Characters

Meera – A fearless leader who challenges norms, empowers women to become warriors, and stands strong in a male-dominated world.
Dhruva – A noble and righteous crown prince who values justice over blind loyalty.
Rudra – A determined Kabila boy who evolves from a village rebel to a formidable commander, driven by his passion for combat.

At times, the narration leans toward excessive detail, which may slow the pacing. The simple language makes it accessible, though readers who prefer intricate prose might find it lacking.

The Rise of Surya Pradesh is an impressive effort with compelling storytelling, well-crafted characters, and an engaging plot. If you enjoy Indian fantasy novels with rich world-building and meaningful themes, this one is definitely worth a read!

The valour of war is purely written to exhilarate the reader to feel the same energy as the character of the book.

I feel it is a masterpiece and it could be made like a movie if added a bits of masala into it, i am glad that I picked this book to read, loved it till the end.

I loved the book and the way the author has beautifully portrayed the story of Dhruva, Meera and Rudra.

These characters enthralled me of their back stories and I wanted to be there and to be like them whenever I used to read about them.

The story of the book kept me hooked till the end as I finished the book I wanted to read more about them as the author has given justification to their character and their connection to each other.

The people of Kabila has been forced into labours from last forty years and has been a disaster for the life in the village and amidst of all this there is a family who is least affected by this atrocities of sardar of nine Kabila.

For the sake of a Secret mission, the sardar comes every once in a while and chooses ten people to force labour on them and if they try to ignore this meeting they will be punished cruelly and for that Kabila people don't raise their voice against them and do whatever they demand from them.

This time when the selection happened, Govinda the father of Rudra had been chosen to work in secret mission and when his son Rudra try to question them, sardar ordered his men to whip him.

Rudra is a brilliant and hard learner boy and is a good warrior and he is secretly going to a gurukul to learn the skills to fight ,so that he could save his father from the grasp of Sardar as his father has been accused of stealing and Rudra knows his father would never do such things.

As the Rudra is going to delve into the world of secret mission he is going to unveils the conspiracy which has been a curse for the life of people.

The Rise of Surya Pradesh is one of those books where you think that you know what’s happening but reality turns out to be much bigger than your tiny imagination and you’re left staring at a wall in the end. Things keep happening, you feel like you’re keeping up but the hints slip from your fingers. And when they come together at the end, fixing one into another like a puzzle, you’re in awe.

Rudra is a simple boy, living a tribal life in a small village with a sweet, nuclear family. Unfortunately, they catch fate’s eye and things go downhill. Now, Rudra has a mission which he must fulfil to save his father’s life. While doing so, he meets his best friend and the love of his life.

I loved the author’s narration. He had a story in his mind and he jotted it down so beautifully that a movie was playing in my head while I was reading the book. The tribal village, the tribal huts, the colour of their roof, the textures, the forest; I could envision everything.

Even the scenes with the bows and swords were clean enough to play in my mind. My favourite was the romance scene of Rudra and the FMC (read the book to find out who she is). They had this whole sequence of him running behind her in rain and her hair twirling as she swivelled around.

The character arcs were on point. Each and every single character went through personal development in their own way. The pacing was medium; I could easily catch up with the events without feeling bored at any point. Perhaps that’s why I read this book in one sitting.

I was particularly impressed with the mapping of the fictional world that the author had created. He named it Gajdweep (Elephant Island) and the whole concept is explained in the book which got to me. It was a well thought out, well planned and then a very well written book. Highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in historical fiction.

This book is amazing. It's so far the best Indian Fantasy Novel I've read. The author did a great job with the names of the characters and places which are very meaningful and relatable. The narration was on point and vivid imagination and description of the scenes were excellent. I liked the writing style so much.
.
Meera was my favorite. She fought for her position in a male dominated kingdom. She not only fought for her rights but motivated a lot of women too. She made them warriors who stood along with men and fought for their kingdom. She is a warrior an intellect and an amazing leader.
.
Dhruva was the crown prince but he is so humble, kind and generous. He is a true friend and loyal. Not only that but he is righteous. He stood against his own King and kingdom for the right thing, for justice.
.
Rudra the normal Kabila village boy. He started revolting against the wrong doings in his village. The character arc of Rudra was amazing. The writer did a great job in showing the difference between the prince and a warrior. While Dhruva and Meera are thinking of laws, people and justice, Rudra aimed to excel at combat skills. Rudra's development was shown very well. From fighting for his father to being a commander in war, he excelled, achieved and conquered what he truly deserves.
.
This is truly Beautiful and I enjoyed it thoroughly. But I thought Meera choosing to protect Rudra in war instead of fighting the enemies was a little "why" moment for me. But yeah I understand where she is coming from. So no complaints. This story was splendid and I loved everything about it 💕

My review:

The Rise of Surya Pradesh by Sagar Paliwal is a gripping epic fantasy fiction, unique in its presentation of ancient values, ethics, and culture. The book hooks you from beginning to end. I loved the bond between the three protagonists, Rudra, Meera, and Dhruva. Each has their own personality but they work remarkably well in this fast-paced plot full of political intrigue.

The supporting characters like Rudra's two friends, Vikram and Suresh, Guruji, Uttar and Rakshak balance out the overarching plot. Trust me, you won't want to put this book down until you have finished reading it. The language is lucid and easy to understand, making it a speedy read despite the length of the novel. The politics of Bhanu Kabila and the other Kabilas, the cruelty of the Sardar is juxtaposed against the heroism, nobility, and ethics of the three young protagonists.

Rudra, the boy from Bhanu Kabila fights to free his father, Govind from the Secret Mission.
Meera, the unconventional princess of Jal Pradesh, fights for her right in a patriarchy, against her unworthy cousin Dushyant. Dhruva, the crown prince of Surya Pradesh, is divided between his loyalty to his friend and his father, along with his responsibilities towards the throne.

How our three heroes navigate the difficulties of their circumstances is a thrilling tale of friendship, love, and integrity against the forces of darkness.

For me it was difficult to pick a favorite among the protagonists, so they all are my favorites. Supporting characters I liked were Sukesh and Guruji.

Congratulations to the author on the book's 1st anniversary!

Thank you So much @paliwalsagar12 for choosing me to read this outstanding book 🎀
This is our first warrior book, Like we always love watching warrior movies but never tried reading it But I think it's the best feeling if author knows how to put the story perfectly on pages.✨
The main male character is our fighter Rudra, He is smart, kind, sharp, emotional yet logical like he is born to be king - The great leader. This story unfolds his struggle from being normal guy of Kabila to heir of big kingdom. 💫
In this journey of finding his worth he met the most powerful & fierce female lead & the princess of Jalpradesh Meera. She is not typical princess who love to pamper herself, she is brave, courageous who wants to be build future for her own people. ✨
The story gave me splash of each type of love -
There's love of leader for this kabila 😇
There's real friendship - Rudra has 3 friends (Suresh,Vikram & Druv) & their friendship is beyond our understanding I mean if I need that put that in word I would say - If death try to touch Rudra then it has to fight with these 3 friends because they will stand like shield between them, without second thought.💞
There's pure love between 2 lost souls in the middle of war & blood - A love that we can just admire & workship between Rudra & Meera ❤️
I just lovveeed everything about the entire story because it made me feel how blessed & pamperd I am, how easy our life is,how a person can go any length just to live one more day or just to take that justice. 🎀💫
I will 1000% recommend this book & yess I didn't read it alone.
Thank you so much @pawa.rni for always taking initiatives when I get new books. 🥰

Reading in progress
Chapter 1 ✔️

I am probably not the audience for this book...

I straight up asked the author if he wrote this book in English or in an Indian language, and if The Rise Of Surya Pradesh is a translation. If translated, the author requires a better translator... Either way, the author requires a better editor...

While the book seems to be written in the simplest of vernacular english, the punctuation is random, the tenses in which sentences are constructed are even more random... and I'm struggling not to throw my Kindle at the wall... (I'm imagining my Hindi language teacher feeling this way while grading my answer sheets.)

I don't mean to discourage the author... my request would be to stick to writing in a language that he is more proficient in... or splurge on a professional ghost writer or editor.

I'm going to read a few more chapters, because of all the reviews...

Chapter 2 ✔️

I like the pacing of the book so far... but I'm struggling to read because of the quality of the writing...

The author confirmed that the book was a debut, self published, and written in English. He self edited, owing to time constraints, but in retrospect understands the importance of editing.

Chapters 3-5 ✔️

I'm feeling cross eyed from all the mental correcting I'm doing as I read the book... Not a lot has happened in the last three chapters, and I'm wondering if I should DNF this book... life being too short etcetera...

🍁This story is an Indian epic fantasy and adventure novel. It follows a boy named Rudra and revolves around three kingdoms Surya Pradesh, Jal Pradesh, and Van Pradesh. Rudra belongs to Surya Pradesh, which suffers under the cruel rule of a tyrant named Sardar. He forcefully selects people for a secret mission a dangerous task from which many never return, while others end up spending their entire lives in prison.
🍁One day, Rudra’s father, Govind, is chosen for this secret mission. However, during the mission, he is wrongly accused of theft and imprisoned. After learning this, Rudra and his two friends set out on a daring journey to rescue his father.
🍁As the story unfolds, Rudra’s path takes an unexpected turn he becomes the bodyguard of Dhruva, the prince of Surya Pradesh. Together, after a series of events, they uncover the truth behind the secret mission and the cruel power controlling it. This leads to a great war to restore peace across Surya Pradesh, Jal Pradesh, and Van Pradesh. Their mission is to bring unity and harmony to all three lands.
🍁The author’s writing style is simple, clear, and easy to read. One of the most special features of this book is a beautifully illustrated map, thoughtfully designed in the shape of an elephant symbolizing the world of Gajdweep. I truly appreciate the author’s creativity, imagination, and attention to detail.

A gripping tale of courage, brotherhood, and destiny — rooted deeply in Indian culture

The Rise of Surya Pradesh is one of those books that pulls you into its world within just a few pages. Set across nine tribal villages oppressed by a merciless Sardar, the story follows young Rudra whose life turns upside down when his father is falsely accused and imprisoned. What begins as heartbreak soon becomes a powerful journey of transformation.

Rudra is a remarkable character—brave, emotional, fierce, but deeply human. His determination to fight injustice, his loyalty to friends, and his love for his people make him unforgettable. The bond he shares with Sukesh, Vikram, Dhruv, and Meera brings warmth, humour, and heart to the story.

I loved how the author didn’t just focus on one hero. Dhruv and Meera even Sukesh and Vikram shine just as brightly, adding layers of emotion and meaning to the narrative. The book beautifully blends adventure, war, politics, spirituality, and human emotions, all soaked in Indian roots and values.

The storytelling is visually rich—kingdoms, battles, tribal rituals, royal mysteries—and emotionally moving, especially the themes of sacrifice, family, and rising against oppression.

If you enjoy:
✨ Royal politics
✨ Good vs Evil
✨ Strong friendships
✨ Hero’s journey
✨ Indian historical fantasy

…this book will absolutely steal your heart.

A soulful, powerful, and impactful read. Truly worth adding to your TBR!

The Rise of Surya Pradesh blends historical fiction and fantasy in a way that is surprisingly immersive and emotionally grounded. The story follows Rudra, a tribal boy whose life flips overnight when his father is framed and imprisoned under a cruel “secret mission.” What begins as his personal fight for justice slowly widens into a much larger battle involving corrupt leaders, forgotten histories, worn-out kingdoms, and a long-buried threat finally resurfacing.

What I enjoyed most was the balance between emotion and action.
Rudra’s evolution is written with sincerity — he feels human, confused, hopeful, and determined all at once. His friendships (especially with Dhruva) are heart-warming, and Meera’s character arc adds a refreshing, powerful perspective. She’s not reduced to a love interest; she has agency, purpose, and fire of her own.

The world-building is simple but engaging, inspired by ancient Indian elements without feeling heavy or complicated. I also loved the moral themes woven throughout — loyalty, equality, courage, and the quiet cost of leadership.

A few parts could have used tighter editing, but the emotional strength of the story overshadows those small flaws.

Overall: A gripping, culturally rich Indian fantasy debut that feels like a mix of myth, bravery, and heartfelt storytelling. I’d definitely recommend it to readers who enjoy political intrigue, friendships forged in war, and heroes who grow into their destiny.

Kabila was a tribal community who resided inside the great Surya Pradesh. Rudra was a young Kabila boy, who was smart, intelligent and good at archery. But, he wasn't allowed to practise it, because if the Sardar (head of the Kabila tribe) saw it, he would get punished. So, Rudra and his friends practised archery in secret.
Every year, the sardar's people would come to Kabila village to take away 10 men to work for a secret mission. These men were taken forcibly and only a few returned after the mission. Rudra's father was selected and he was forced to go with Sardar, but after two months the Sardar's men come to the village and announce that Rudra's father has stolen some things and he got imprisoned for life. Enraged Rudra decides to help his father from this atrocious punishment. Inside the forest, Rudra surprisingly meets a young boy Dhruva and his life changes completely.
Will Rudra fulfil his mission? Will Dhruva help Rudra?

My Note: I'm thankful to Sagar Paliwal for sharing this masterpiece with me. This is an amazing fantasy fiction, and it gave me major Mahabharata, Ramayana vibes. It was so refreshing, adventurous and nostalgic. The story was fast paced and I was able to finish it in less than two days. All the characters, their backstory, their character evolution was so interesting and beautiful. Expecting more power packed adventurous books from you.

🥀Rudra, our protagonist belongs to a village with suspicious customs. An ordinary boy lives under the rule of the system enjoying his life. What incident brought him to become a murderer on his own land?
🥀This book was such a fun read, a kind of indian-mythology-fantasy-adventure vibe! I really enjoyed the storyline, the plot and the evil details of the characters while ALMOST having a crush over a negative character ( dark romance spoiled us all ) The best part about this book, is its female protagonist Meera. Her bravery, her valour and her spirit was admirable!
🥀 Although there were parts I didn't enjoy, like the first few chapters of the book along with a few phases, the most hated highlight of the book for me was ' of the age ' and I'm sure with the number of times the author has heard it from me, he's gonna get his book edited😭🫶🏻 unimportant scenes were over-explained at places while some lacked details, for example when the story was leading towards the main love interests meeting, the DETAILS WERE SO LOW and as a romance reader, I WENT BOMBASTIC SIDE EYE.
🥀 As the story progressed I started liking the way the author was unfolding it, it almost felt like the author thought of the middle part of the story first and then added the end and then the beginning. Cause the mid and end was top notch. Had me awake till 3 am!

The Rise of Surya Pradesh is a fantasy Novel written by Sagar Paliwal

The book starts of with the story of a young boy named “Rudra” , he is the most skilled and intelligent in his entire village despite his young age, but he lives in a kabila where commoners are not allowed to be too educated or skilled, You must be wondering, Why ? Well that’s because their Sardar is running a secret mission, which is even unknown to the villagers…. Again What is the Secret Mission???🤔
Obviously I am not gonna tell you that… but this isn’t even the biggest suspense of the book. Honestly the book was played like an epic South Indian Movie in my mind.

The Story is very well written, filled with lots of drama, suspense, thriller, action and so much more. The Authors writing is amazing, keeping the filled with twists at the right time.

The journey of Rudra in this book teached me a lot about friendship, love, courage, righteousness and determination.

I would recommend this book to all the fantasy, thriller and epic battle scene lovers.

The Rise Of Surya Pradesh' is an exciting story about bravery, rebellion, and sacrifice. Rudra's journey from a strong tribal boy to a hero is inspiring.

The author's detailed descriptions of the cruel Sardar's evil actions will make you feel angry. But Rudra's bravery and determination to save his father will give you hope. The surprising plot twists will keep you interested and eager to know what happens next, making it hard to stop reading.

What stood out most was the heartwarming friendship between Rudra and Dhruva, despite their hierarchical differences.Equally admirable was the way Rudra, Dhruva, and Meera, representing the younger generation, joined forces to fight against the enemy that had plagued Surya Pradesh for forty years.

The last but not the least you will get a glimpse of sweet love story in background ( Couple? Go and read).

The story takes place in the vast and beautiful world of Surya Pradesh, where a big war is about to happen. The author's storytelling and characters make this book a must-read for fans of action and adventure.

I loved this book! Easily one of the best Indian fantasy novels I’ve come across.

From the detailed world-building to the powerful character arcs, everything felt rich and meaningful. The writing was smooth and vivid, and the narration really pulled me in.

Meera completely stole the show for me—strong, intelligent, and bold in a patriarchal society. I admired how she stood her ground and led with both her sword and her mind.

Dhruva was another standout—kind, just, and brave enough to challenge injustice even when it came from his own family.
Rudra, the village boy with fire in his heart, had an incredible development arc. Watching him go from a rebel to a formidable warrior was gripping and emotional.

The only part I hesitated over was Meera’s decision to protect Rudra during battle—it felt slightly out of place in that moment—but it didn’t take away from the powerful impact of the story.

Overall, this book was a beautiful blend of action, emotion, and meaningful themes. Highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys epic fantasy with heart and soul 💫

This book felt like watching an epic unfold in vivid colours in my mind. Sagar Paliwal doesn’t just tell a story, he builds a whole world, one that breathes with rivers, forests and sunlit kingdoms that feel alive and untamed. Gajdweep isn’t just a setting; it’s a living, beating heart that shapes its people.

Rudra’s journey is the thread that pulls everything together. A tribal boy caught between loyalty, rebellion and destiny. But what I loved most is that he isn’t painted as a perfect hero. He doubts, he falters and yet that makes his choices matter more.

What really stood out was Meera, fierce and smart. She fights expectations in ways that feel both familiar and refreshing. She's a warrior and sn amazing leader.

That said, the pacing occasionally sped forward too fast, like a horse at full gallop across a clearing.

To conclude, The Rise of Surya Pradesh is more than just an epic fantasy. It’s a tale about power, friendship and standing tall when the odds are impossible.I can’t wait to see where this story goes next

" It's harder to prepare for a war, harder to fight one, and the hardest to face the aftermath of it."

If you want to read a fantasy thriller with a war setting then pick this book. The story is engaging and it's a treat for thriller lovers. ✨

Rudra's character development is inspiring and the unbreakable bond of friendship between Rudra, Dhruva, and Meera is sweet. The plot is filled with action and unexpected twists. The description of the environment is enchanting as it will take you from village life to royal life and then to war life with a lot of adventure.

The lesson this book has taught is to stand against arbitrary rules, to confront the harsh realities of the world, and it's never too late to make amends for past wrongs. It also teaches that sometimes in the political sphere it's best to form an alliance to protect the civilians and sometimes war is the only solution.

Read this if you love:

The Rise of Surya Pradesh is fiction novel which blend historical fiction and fantasy together. It talks about Rudra a young boy from Bhanu Kabila who played an important role in order to make peace between different pradesh as in Surya, Jal and Van pradesh and to defeat Tamas, king of Tam pradesh. There are other characters who help him in his journey and are true example of good friendship and trust in each other. It did teach you to always follow the truth and the importance of standing up for the right thing, even when the odds seem insurmountable.
Author has done good work by keeping the language simple to make it more understandable and interesting and the story keeps you engaged till end. Sometimes it did felt like too much descriptive and describing every war scene in long paragraphs but all together I did enjoyed reading it. An enjoyable read it is.
