Amy Cross writes novels and short stories in a number of genres, mainly horror, paranormal and fantasy. Books include The Farm, Annie's Room, The Island, Eli's Town and Asylum.
This story started out well, very well actually, but then descended into the realm of the absurd. The title of the book may suggest a ghost story but that's not what it is. Science fantasy is the name of the game here, complete with alternate worlds in a parallel universe. As a simple paranormal tale this book would probably have had me scoring four or even five stars. However, with its ridiculous ending it barely justifies my three star score. Great idea but, in my opinion, it failed to deliver.

This was an ok read, but I was expecting a bit more from it.
The characters were limited in their development - all I learnt about Mia was her struggles with her mental health and her fertility issues. David annoyed me. He never seemed to be very sympathetic or supportive towards his wife. Instead, he put all of her concerns down to being tired or just hallucinating. He was often condescending and patronising.
I liked the first 70% the most. In the last 30%, the plot went in a completely different direction and changed the genre from horror to sci-fi, which just felt weird.
This story started well as a ghost story and slowly descended into the ridiculous. Whether or not one believes in alternative universes, this still stretches credulity and would have been better written as a paranormal tale.
This is an Amy Cross novel, so It is an excellent read. I'll give no spoilers, but will say this is a great example of the old adage: Be careful what you wish for".
Another BRILLIANT story from Amy Cross!! Takes the ghost story to another realm. A very artful story of Art versus Science. Her imagination has no bounds!
I'm not sure what to think about what I just read. There was a lot of potential for a more thrilling story if this had been fleshed out more. It reads like an episode of Black Mirror.
