This was a interesting book to read. Picks up with a woman being held captive in a basement of a house. It took me a little time to realize she was the missing presumed dead woman from book 8.
This book is more a stand alone story. Most of it is about an abuse victim and her story. In fact Taylor and Hart Ridge family have almost nothing to do with anything in this book.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 4.5/5

I received an advanced copy of this book. This is my honest opinion.

Book 9 of the Hart’s Ridge series and this one seemed to be the darkest for me. A carryover storyline from Book 8 of the missing wife of fellow officer, Caleb. Taylor also attempts to help a young mother caught in the throws of an abusive relationship.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this series; storylines, family dynamics, characters, descriptive writing. I will admit the abuse, more implied than described, had my heart racing and left me feeling heartbroken for these women and angry at the men who do this. The human spirit is resilient and does what it needs to do to survive. I so missed the ongoing family drama of the Grey’s, touched on very briefly and the fluidity that typically follows from one book to the next. This was still an enjoyable read and I can’t wait to see how Ms. Bratt brings this series to an end.

Each Hart's Ridge book is better than the last. They are all wonderful and touching and sad. All have many feels going on. This one was just the best.

Ms. Bratt captured my heart with the two women in this book. The two that were at the mercy of brutal men. Especially the one being held in the basement. Good grief what that poor woman is going through and she needs to be found. Get her away from that horrible man.

Two women.

Allison who is a mother to two beautiful children a baby boy and a toddler girl, is running for her life after the man who is suppose to love her beats her. He's an abusive jerk. She has to get her babies away from there. Herself away. She deserves so much better. I utterly HATED her mother. Allison's mother. She is a first rate hussy. A horrible excuse of a mother.

Lydia is a mother also. She has two teenage daughters and a baby girl. She was carjacked in a Walmart parking lot. So much has happened to her now. Her husband refuses to accept that she is dead. He can't feel her and knows that he would. Lydia's capture is another horrible man. He's worse than the one that Allison is running from. He has no feelings toward her. Feels no remorse at all. He is a psychopath. He thinks of himself as a survivalist though.

This book will keep you turning the pages and will give you so many tears. It's filled with so many emotions and ups and downs. You will feel like you are right there with these women. And you get to know a little more about the Grays. The determination of Deputy Taylor Gray. Her allegiance to her fellow cops. Or in this case cop. As they travel in search of a missing wife and mother. As she helps out Allison and her children. As she does with her sisters and mother. Taylor is the rock they all seem to rely on.

This is a solid FIVE start book even if I did get upset over the ending and not knowing....
Thank you Kay Bratt for this copy of book 9 of the Hart's Ridge series. It was so good.

This series is totally addictive and the latest book in the series was so good that I would have devoured it in one sitting if I hadn’t needed some sleep. The story of a missing wife and mother and the secondary plot of an abused young woman flow together seamlessly, creating a picture that is heartbreaking as well as a call to action to help those who are helpless. I really enjoyed getting to know the Gray family better and the happy moments with them, but the majority of the book is focused on Allison, the young woman who is in an abusive relationship, and Deputy Grimes, a man tormented by his overwhelming feeling that his wife Lydia is not dead but is somewhere in the world and she needs him to find her. Based on true life events that were fictionalized by the author, this story is compelling and thought-provoking. It can be read as a standalone, but there is no way I can recommend that you read just one book in the series since they all deserve to be read and thoroughly enjoyed. With dynamic characters and a fast-paced plot, the book is an easy read and left me wanting more of the story at the end. Concluding with a cliffhanger, “Blackbird” left me imagining what would happen next, so I am anticipating the next book in the series even though I just finished this one. These books are like chocolate; you can’t eat just one and be satisfied because you know that the next bite will be just as delicious as the first. With heart and hope, the author masterfully weaves a tale of a family and the people in the little town of Hart’s Ridge who will touch your soul and mind and make you want to live there and help others out, just as Deputy Taylor Gray is sworn to do.

Blackbird is book #9 in the exciting Hart's Ridge series by Kay Bratt. Honestly, I love everything that Kay writes but this series is the cream of the crop... and she just keeps writing more. Yay for us!

This book takes us into the lives of multiple people and cases. Just like real life, situations don't fall in a straight line, and stories overlap. Kay is a master of intertwining story-lines to keep the reader on our toes and to peak our interest. So much good, and so much evil in her stories.

I'm not sure what I can say about this series that I haven't already said. I love it and each book is better than the one before it. They are addictive and just make me want more. I love this family and their community and have come to think of them as friends.

The Hart's Ridge Series is absolutely amazing and I highly recommend it. Book #10 is scheduled to be released in July and I can't wait!

Another winner in this series from Kay Bratt. Lydia’s abduction from the last book plays a role as the crime based on a true crime and will continue to play a role in the next book as there is no closure for her husband at the end of this one. We also meet Allison, a young mother dealing with an abusive situation. My only complaint with Blackbird is that although we caught up with the Gray family, it was done in a bit of a perfunctory way. I love the Gray family and wanted more!

I think this is one of my favorite books in the series. I really enjoyed all the characters and how so many were there to help Allison and her journey through running from domestic abuse. Lydia’s story continues to heat up! Looking forward to more.

Another good book but less about the Gray girls and their families. Cliff hanger with Lydia, though will make me buy the next book in the series.

Kay Bratt Goes "North Ga Dark". Ok, so what the hell do you mean by "North Ga Dark", Sexton? Well, growing up even "in the country" in North Ga, specifically the Atlanta exurbs (then, now northern suburbs), even on a pitch black, moonless night... you still had the glow of Atlanta and its suburbs over the horizon. Thus, even at nature's absolute darkest... there was still *some* light, if well over the horizon and very faint.

And that is what Bratt has introduced here, with both our longer term story and one of the active cases in this story now focusing on themes of abuse in various forms. To be clear, this is one of those stories that will be quite difficult for some, perhaps many, readers - but as usual, Bratt manages to handle even these themes with a care not every other writer decides to put into their story, for any number of reasons. So while the evil is very present and menacing *in story*, it is more like a shark menacing - if you're in its domain (ie, a character in this book, for the book evil, or pretty much anything in most any body of salt water, for the shark), you're going to feel its presence and you should probably take appropriate precautions. The easiest of which for most of us is simply... stepping away from its domain for a bit. In which case, sitting on the beach with a good book is probably a solid idea for both. (With your beverage of choice, for when you need to step away from the book if it gets too menacing for you... as you ponder the water and the menaces within it. :D)

As with a few other reviewers, I noticed the lack of direct family involvement in this book, which had previously been a long-running staple of the series. And am I just forgetting (it has been 75+ books for me between Book 8 of this series, Starting Over, and this one), or did a certain sequence that was (somewhat briefly at that) explained as happening before the events of this book not actually happen in the previous book? Because I don't remember that particular scene in that book, and I think I would have commented on at least its presence - even if somewhat obliquely to avoid any outright spoilers. If this is indeed the case, this was likely the most egregious miss of this entire series. While the series didn't need a full on "Return Of The King" massive *event* for this particular scene... it still would have been great to see it "in real time". (Note: While writing this review, I did go back to my copy of Starting Over and confirm that it did not include this particular scene. It included a blatant setup for the scene, but not the scene itself. So I stand behind my comment that this was a major miss, and a glaring hole from an author not generally known for such obvious misses.)

All of this noted, this *was* a supremely enjoyable and fast read, and it absolutely sets up for Bratt to either conclude the series (as was originally intended with Starting Over) with Book 10 - Hello Little Girl, out Summer 2024 - or possibly extend it again. It will be interesting to see which direction Bratt takes, particularly given that she seems to be actively writing that book at the time of me writing this review. Very much recommended.

Kay Bratt has brought us another installment of her Heart’s Ridge Series with book number nine entitled Blackbird. I am so totally invested in this series. The heart of all of the books revolves around Taylor Gray and her family. These books could be read out of order but, I highly recommend starting from the beginning because you learn so much about Taylor and her family as you travel along with them through their trials and tribulations. You don’t want to miss all of the background.

Taylor Gray is a deputy with the local county Sheriff's department. Her aim is to work her way up to detective. She does a lot of that work along with mundane patrols and watching out for her town of Heart’s Ridge. One of their own, Caleb, lost his wife Lydia over a year ago in an abduction from a mall parking lot. They have never found her remains and the perpetrator has pleaded guilty. Caleb feels like there was no closure for him and his three daughters because they never found Lydia’s body. He and Taylor set out on their time off to right that wrong.

There is also a spousal abuse case in this book that kept me on the edge of my seat. I was so scared for Allison and her children. I can’t help but tell you that Blackbird left me a little unsettled and very anxious to read the next book. I know at least one of these cases was not settled. The one that may be settled didn’t satisfy me. I want to know more about what happened. What a brilliant way for Kay Bratt to keep her readers wanting more. I know I do!

If you like a detective story, angst, mystery and a good family saga you will love the Heart’s Ridge Series by Kay Bratt and all that it has to offer you as a reader. This whole series is so popular that a decision has been made to continue until interest dies down. Please, don’t let that happen! These books deserve a spot on your TBR list. Until next time…Happy Reading!

Don’t forget to support the authors you read by leaving a review!

Blackbird by Kay Bratt is the ninth book in the Hart’s Ridge series. In the small town of Hart’s Ridge, the echoes of Lydia Grimes’ abduction still ripples through the community. As they continue to come to grips with her profound loss, new clues and ideas may lead to understanding what happened to Lydia and where she is now. Deputy Taylor Gray feels deeply about every case that comes through Hart’s Ridge. With a mix of joys among the lingering sorrows, Taylor finds herself helping Caleb Grimes find the closure he needs to get his life and his family back on track. A young named Allison Curran, whom Taylor helped so many years ago, needs help again to leave a desperate situation. Can Taylor and Grimes find out what happened to Lydia and put the case to rest? Can Allison finally find peace, a home and a fresh start?
Oh wow! What a story! From the opening prologue to the closing cliffhanger, Blackbird is a story of survival and determination. There were moments of heartbreaking tears and joyful smiles. There were moments of nail biting suspense and a race against time urgency. The Hart’s Ridge series just keeps getting better and better. My heart broke for Caleb and his daughters, especially Grace who struggled with their new reality and fears. I cheered Allison on as she worked to better her life and hoped with every turn of the page that she finds who and what she needs to find her feet again. I can’t wait for the next book to find out what happens next! This story will keep you on the edge of your seat and keep you guessing. I highly, highly recommend reading this series and if you have read the series so far, you will love Blackbird.

The Hart’s Ridge series by Kay Bratt is one of my favorite book series to read! It was Kay’s first time branching out and writing in this genre of mystery/suspense and has she ever nailed it! Each book centers around a true life crime that she adapts to fit into her fictitious storyline. The books all center around Taylor Gray, a local police deputy, along with her family and the residents of Hart’s Ridge. Blackbird is the 9th book in the series. In this installment we learn more about Caleb Grimes, who is another officer on the local police force, and about his family and how the loss of his missing wife Lydia is having such a devastating effect on both him and his daughters. Without finding her body, Caleb refuses to give up hope and continues to search for fresh leads as to her disappearance. Along with Taylor’s busy life of dealing with family, being newly married and a new stepparent and her hectic work schedule, she makes time to help Caleb hunt down leads. There is also a side story in this book where we are introduced to Allison, a young mother of 2, who is on the run from her abusive boyfriend. With Taylor’s help she is placed in a safe house but later is blessed to find love and help in the form of found family. I’ll be happy to learn more about her and her children in future books. Although this book had me feeling very optimistic at times, it ended in a cliffhanger which left me a little puzzled and I can’t wait to read Hello Little Girl to learn the fate of Lydia Grimes. I’m really hoping for a happy reunion! If you haven’t started reading the Hart’s Ridge series, I highly recommend you do. I know I absolutely love it and I’m giving Blackbird a 5 star rating!

This book in the series is really busy. There are many changes in the Gray family and all of them include some kind of suspense, especially for Taylor. She gets involved with a young girl with two children who is trying to get away from an abusive boyfriend. Taylor gets her into a safe house and eventually, but without suspense, out of state. However, unless everyone who knows where Allison is doesn't speak of it, she can still be in danger.
Lydia Grimes is still missing and most people think she is dead, especially when the abductors state that she was strangled and tied to a tree in the forest. The two men are arrested and tried; but Caleb Grimes cannot get over his belief that his wife is still alive. Taylor supports him on continuing to search and helps re-energize the search and rescue teams to continue looking. Meanwhile, Dom, as she knows her kidnapper, has moved her from the basement she has been kept in and takes her and his daughter Jill, whom he has also abducted, to a survival shelter in the woods and locks them in.
Meanwhile, Taylor is pulled in to take a special undercover assignment in another county. She will be incarcerated in a women's prison as an observer when the women try a new program of being out of their cells 24 hours a day with no inside officers. Hopefully, they will begin to govern themselves. If the women find out she is an officer, she will be killed. Unfortunately, she comes down with a fungial menengitis with little medical attention. As she is finally headed to the downstairs door to see if she can contact an officer to get her medical attention, she collapses and they cannot wake her up.

Book 9 in the Hart's Ridge series, and I couldn't be happier to be diving right back to the residents of Hart's Ridge, more atrocities committed, and a brief update on Taylor and the Gray family.
Alongside settling into married life with Sam and his daughter, Alice, Taylor is still busy with her job as a deputy at the police station.
This time round, Taylor spends time with her colleague Caleb, who tragically lost his wife the year before, as detailed in the previous book. However, there are signs that the conclusion reached may not be the correct one.
Alongside this, we meet Allison, another person Taylor has helped in the past. She is struggling to run from an abusive relationship and needs all the help she can get.
What can I say, apart from LOVED IT!
Though this story didn't include as much about the Gray family, we still get a good roundup of what they are all doing and the indication that Taylor is working herself to the bone and isn't leaving much of herself to her own family.
As they unfolded, the two cases were sensitively handled, mainly since one is based upon the author's personal experiences and the other bears some resemblance to another true crime story.
Again, we end on a cliffhanger, and though they can be a little annoying, this time, it filled me with excitement that there is at least another book in the series, especially as Kay initially started with this being an eight-book series and we are now on number nine!
I foresee some significant changes in Taylor Gray's life, too.
Cannot wait for book 10!

Blackbird is the 9th book in the Hart’s Ridge series, which has been a great book series.

It chronicles Taylor Gray, a young woman living in Harts Ridge, GA. Growing up, Taylor had to work hard. Her childhood was not easy. She had to grow up fast as a young girl after her mother was sent to prison and her father turned to alcohol instead of helping his 4 young girls cope either their loss. It was hard, but they came through it. She was given the opportunity to pursue a career in law enforcement and has worked hard to earn her role within the department, all while having a goal to be promoted to detective. Taylor’s life is messy, she takes on added responsibilities for those around her whom she cares about, putting those around her ahead of herself.

When her coworker, Caleb Grimes, expresses that he is struggling with accepting that his wife, Lydia, is dead, she agrees to help him investigate more, to try to helping find peace to move on after a year.

Meanwhile, she meets Allison, a young woman whom she has helped in the past, work through a difficult situation for her and her 2 young children.

Will Taylor be able to help Caleb find some peace and move on? Will they find clues about Lydia’s disappearance? Will Taylor be able to help Allison realize her worth?
Read this book to find out!

Deputy Taylor Gray, decides to help her coworker, Caleb Grimes, in his search for the truth regarding the abduction of his wife, Lydia, to bring closure to him and his family, but with the stipulation that if they don’t find any new evidence, Caleb lets go and seeks therapy to help him move on. Caleb is still grieving the loss of his wife but without a body he refuses to give up his search for answers. He believes she’s still alive, even though her abductors previously confessed to killing her.

Taylor also gets involved with Allison, a young mother on the run from an abusive ex. She’s determined to find them safe shelter, but they come across a few obstacles along the way.

Between the two cases and everything else going on at work, Taylor is spending less time at home with her husband and stepdaughter, as well as the rest of her family. None of them are happy about it but they understand Taylor’s dedication to her job and helping others.

When I got to the end and saw it was a cliffhanger, I shouted to myself “NO!”. Can’t wait for the next book in this awesome series.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Blackbird is the 9th book in the Hart's Ridge series by best selling author Kay Bratt. It is a mystery/suspense series from book 1 through book 9.

It takes place in the small town of Hart's Ridge. Deputy Taylor Gray is the main character in all the books, but each book does add new characters. There's a lot of suspense, fears, loss, sorrow but there's also joy, love, friendships, peace and fresh starts.

I've read the entire series, rated each book 5 stars. After finishing Blackbird it's definitely another 5 star book. If I could give it more stars I would!

Short synopsis: In the small town of Hart's Ridge, a recent tragedy leaves the tight-knit community still reeling. Deputy Taylor Gray finds herself supporting a colleague through a painful journey of letting go. Meanwhile, a young woman and her children must flee from her abusive ex-partner, seeking refuge and safety. Deputy Gray becomes entangled in their plight, blurring the lines between duty and personal conviction.

I want to thank author Kay Bratt for providing me with an E-ARC of this 5 star book that will be published April 30, 2024

An absolute page turner of a book, which follows on from book 8, so these books must be read in the order in which they were published.

Following on from book 8, where Deputy Caleb Grimes' wife was abducted, this book takes up the story. Will she live through her ordeal? After all, she was abducted twice, not once!

This book also tells the story of Allison and her children, escaping from an abusive relationship and finding a home, maybe?

Deputy Taylor Gray has a hand in both cases, being Caleb's friend and supporter. She's with him all the way, but this is at the expense of her relationship with her new husband.

I've loved all the books in this series, but these last 2 books have kept me on the edge of my seat. I so hope the case will be resolved in this book.

Each book has a murder or mystery, which is based on real-life cases, and the author tells the reader about them at the end of the book.

I've already downloaded book 10, ready to be read and devoured.

If you like family sagas and murder mystery books, then this is the series for you. I'll be looking out for more books by this author once I've finished all the available books in this series.

I just love this series and it just keeps getting better and better! I love all the characters in the series and love hearing more with every story. I finish one and I just want to keep reading to find out what is going to happen next. I can't wait till the next one comes out!!
This story is about two of the characters. Lydia was abducted in the last book and everyone, except her husband, believes she is dead even if there is no body. Caleb Grimes just can't let it go and does some investigation on his own with the help of Deputy Taylor Gray. Lydia is alive and tells her story living with her abductor. The other storyline is about Allison and her two young children trying to get away from her abusive husband. Taylor finds a safe house for them to live in until her husband finds her. Allison keeps running. Will she be able to finally get away. Will Lydia be found. Caleb will make sure she does because he just can't give up. WOW! What a wonderful moving story. Thank you Kay Bratt for the ARC.

Blackbird
By Kay Bratt
Release date April 26 2024
(Hart’s Ridge book 9)

I love this series! Based on true life events that Kay has fictionalized for our reading entertainment. Two intense stories in one.

Detective Taylor, Gray, who we all love, is in on both cases. Along with some help from Caleb. (Lydia’s husband)

First, we have Lydia who was kidnapped from a Walmart parking lot. She is the mother of two teenage daughters and a baby. And her husband Caleb that won’t give up on her. The police department has given up. But Caleb just knows that she is still alive.
Her captive is an abusive psychopath !

Then there is Alison on the run from her abusive husband. With two young children. Living out of her Van. But when it breaks down, and she has no money, detective Taylor Gray steps in to help her.
Alison’s mother has never been a good mother. But what she does to her while going through this and trying to get away from her abuser is really unforgivable!

I absolutely love this series! And Love being part of Kay’s team. This is my honest review.

Taylor is on the hunt again! A young mother is being abused by the man who is supposed to love and protect her. Alison has had enough, and finally finds the courage to protect herself and her children. Wyatt catches wind and vanishes into the wind. Or does he? Allison needs to go into hiding, but who can she trust?
From a previous story, we met Taylor's coworker, Caleb Grimes. His wife went missing on a rare, solo shopping trip. The convicted murderer, who has confessed to her murder, is behind bars, but Caleb can't come to grips with the notion that his dear Lydia is truly gone. His family is struggling with Caleb's inability to move on, but he just can't let go. Can Taylor help Caleb come to grips, and get the therapy that he needs?
Once again, Kay Bratt weaves the tales into another page turner that has me wishing that she could write just a bit faster. I'm looking forward to Book 10!

Blackbird, book 9 in the Hart's Ridge series, was a real nail-biter from the first page to the last. Taylor has married Sam and his teenage daughter lives with them. Taylor still spends too much time working at her job as a deputy and is still neglecting her family but luckily, Sam pretty much understands how important her work is to her.

This book has two major plots that both affect Taylor and keep her working long hours.

-Allison and her two young children are living in an abusive household. Taylor works hard to move Allison to a safe place and to keep her abusive boyfriend from harming her. The boyfriend is relentless in his pursuit of Allison and Taylor spends a lot of time trying to keep the mom and two children safe.

-One of her fellow officers is having a hard time accepting the death of his wife after a kidnapping (details in book 8) because her body was never found. He can't get on with his healing until the case is totally solved and Taylor agrees to help him. Will they find clues that Lydia may not be dead? or is it another dead end?

Both plot lines are exciting and kept me turning the pages to find the outcomes. There wasn't much of a storyline about the rest of the Gray family but there were updates on all of them during the book. Right now the author plans that Book 10 will be the last book in the series and I'll be sad to say goodbye to Hart's Ridge and the Grey family - especially Taylor. This is a fantastic series.

Another winning title in Kay Bratt's Hart's Ridge series! The story focuses on Taylor and 2 of her cases. We were introduced to Lydia and Caleb in Book 8 and Lydia's story continues. She is being held captive by a psycopath. Her world is limited to seeing a blackbird and a tailless squirrel. She keeps her confines very clean despite being restrained by a shackle. Caleb continues to search for her, even as the law enforcement community has closed her case and considers her dead.
We are introduced to Allison, the victim of domestic abuse who has 2 small children. Taylor works closely with her to keep she and her children safe.
Blackbird kept me in its grip through these two women and their situations. Very suspenseful and very well written. I'm already looking forward to Kay's 10th book in this series. Thank you giving me the opportunity to read this ARC.

Another powerful read from Kay Bratt, ‘Blackbird’ is Book #9 in the Hart’s Ridge series. It is very intense and deeply emotional. This book is devoted to Lydia’s kidnapping story and Allison’s escape from a horrific relationship.

Caleb, a deputy sheriff and Lydia’s husband, has been struggling during the past year since she disappeared. Trying to concentrate on his job, dealing with raising his children alone, suffering through not finding Lydia’s body - everything is taking a toll on him. But after a conversation with a local resident, a thought takes shape in his mind - could Lydia be alive?

Allison’s boyfriend Wyatt had physically abused her and she is on the run to hide from him. But no matter where she goes, somehow he finds her. Will she ever be able to find a safe place for herself and her two sweet children? Will life ever turn for the better, and give her the family life she craves? Please be sure to pick this one up. You won’t regret it.

someone HAS to find Lydia!!!

Omg- two books of this on again off again- maybe??? All for Grimes’ wife?!? I think the author does a great job planting those niggling seeds of doubt that just maybe Lydia is still out there! Will Taylor find her?? You will have to read and find out! The story of Allison. Oh my- it is so hard because there are times when it feels like some women just have the worst luck. Hers is a tale of mistrust, fear, and the need to protect her children. So many good things in this book and I’m thankful it’s not over yet- we still need to find some peace for Jo and Anna! The author may have some “bad guys” in this book but by no means does she paint all men as bad guys. That is refreshing. Not all women are good just as not all men are bad. Great story in this book!

I had the extreme pleasure of being an AR for Blackbird, book 9 in the Hart's Ridge series. Let me tell you - this book did not disappoint! It is a continuation of the cliffhanger from Book 8, and features Taylor Gray once again working on a case near and dear to her heart. Things have shifted a bit in the family, and the character development continues along the same path as before. A few new characters are introduced, and they add more depth to the story and highlight all the great things we already love about Taylor. Kay sneakily throws a HUGE foreshadow out there for Book 10, and leaves us with yet another cliffhanger to drive us all crazy! I can't wait for Book 10, and I can't wait to see how much all of you loved Book 9!

This is book nine in the Hart's Ridge series written by Kay Bratt. Do yourself a favor and start with the first one. I just want to say that the author should be arrested for writing this book because the suspense in it just about the death of me!

There is a continuation of two storylines in the book. There is the story of Caleb's wife and his hunt for the truth in her disappearance. There is also the story of Allison and her dealing with the abusive
relationship she has found herself in. Bratt has managed to weave old and new characters together in a cohesive manner that adds to the flow of the story. She's a master of suspense. At this point, I'm fairly sure that she can write anything and everything successfully.

Thanks to the author for this book. All thoughts are my own.

Some dark story lines in this addition to the Hart’s Ridge series. The storylines and family dynamics make it difficult to put them down. First Allison is trying to seek safety for her children Chelsea and Toby, after being abused and on the run from her ex Wyatt. Secondly, Caleb refuses to give up the search for his missing wife Lydia. Something tells Caleb she is not dead. He enlists Taylor’s help to track down lead after lead. Family support is also a key theme as Allison struggles to find love and support in the form of a family.

Meanwhile, Lydia struggles to survive in a time room, constantly tormented and abused by her captor Dom. Her hope is kept alive by the Blackbird outside her window.

Thank you to the author for this ARC. This review is my honest opinion.
