It’s actually embarrassing how badly this random incest gang bang book pissed me off.
If you ever plan to get into writing and want a guide on how to NOT develop a plot. Read this.
The author would introduce a trope that literally can’t be done wrong (aka possessive hero), develop a certain plot line, then it’s like she’d suddenly stop and think “hmmmmm but what if I ruined it all🙌🏼🌈” and proceed to completely decimate everything in a matter of seconds. And that happened AT LEAST 3 times in a 6 chapter book.
Is this what schizophrenia is?
Didn’t help that the characters were all on some level of delusional or insane.

And the worst part is the smut between mom and son was so cringy. You made River passive for this?? IVE READ good mommy kink and this was not it.

Dad’s letting him do all of this because Mum is his twin; his lover. Maybe this is his way of showing River that this is okay; that it’s okay to love your twin.

Maybe that’s why River’s fucking Mum, maybe he’s preparing himself to do that do me.
Meanwhile the son💀:
Fucking my mother and filling every inch of her with my cum is the only thing I want to focus on right now. Giving her a baby is the one thing that I desperately want to do. And if that means that Dad will have her, that Rayne will be his, then so be it.

This is not a taboo “romance”. This is a perv€rsion fantasy. The parents manipulate the children into something that they may have come to on their own. But the parents wanted to have their own fantasies fulfilled with the children too. It’s twisted and not anything that I’m interested in.
There is also no real story here. It’s the characters with no backgrounds story to explain these people and this situation. There is nothing to invest in. It nothing more than a perv€rted fantasy short story.
Not only that the son was all “mine, mine, mine” to his twin sister but in a split second he was like “his dad could have her”. That was a HUGE turn off for me. These characters have no commitment towards each other. It’s just the perv€rsion they want.
I read romance for the romance. I read dark romance for the romance. I read literally any genre as long as there is ROMANCE in it. This is NOT ROMANCE. Other than that it had some grammar issues and a complete lack of character development so for a short story it was lacking in nearly all areas. Good luck.

Double Trouble by Kehlani Booth is an extreme taboo romance.
This is the second book of Kehlani's that I have read, and it won't be my last. I was pulled in from the very beginning and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. I loved that we got River, Rayne, and Zane's points of views throughout the book.

“Double Trouble” was so good! Not only does the Larson family have no problem with twincest, but they also like to share among themselves: there is action between father and mother (who are twins), mother and son, father and daughter, and son and daughter (who are also twins). Well, you could call it family bonding at its finest.

Another taboo short, something about the writing is just off for me, it doesn’t flow and has too much outside of steamy bits that doesn’t build properly to a good narrative so ends up being extraneous. I skimmed even more than the uncle/niece one.

Y'all, it's sixty-nine pages. I just got the joke! But honestly, I didn't know the story would go in the direction it did. I prefer to go into stories blind, which I do NOT recommend with this book. My only triggers are dogs and puppies. Any harm to them, and I'm out. Yet extreme tab00? Sign me up!
"Double Trouble" is a short story, not enough time for full character development and backstory. Readers will not get any of that, so don't expect it. In addition, please read the TW/CWs on the Author's Note page. It will describe precisely what to expect regarding the familial relationships that will occur in the story.
River and Rayne are brother and sister twins. They discover the truth of their parent's relationship after overhearing their parents in a unique circumstance. This prompts them to question their feelings towards each other. There is an underlying story of their parents, too, but due to "Double Trouble" being a novelette, readers will not get more depth into it.
The "Double Trouble" I read and reviewed is from KU and says "Amazon Edition." I'm unsure how different it is from the author's other version. But there are explicit scenes between family members. If that's not your thing, then this is not the book for you.

Double Trouble was basically pure smut. I actually would've loved it more if it was a full length novel featuring just Rayne and River. I liked their dynamic and it could've been one big angst fest. It's when everyone got involved that I lost some interest.
