The curtain finally rises on the Blue Lock Eleven versus U-20 Japan game. Deprived of their wild-card striker, Shidou, the Blue Lock Eleven must find a way to break through the ironclad defense of the so-called "diamond generation." Individual battles play out across the field as the Itoshi brothers revisit old rivalries and Isagi goes head-to-head with a fellow "reflexive thinker" on the opposing team...
The Japan U-20 match is really entertaining as expected! The Itoshi sibling rivalry is now on centre stage, with every mid-match interaction escalating the tension between them. I want Rin to surpass his older brother so badly, that way Sae can acknowledge his talent and (hopefully) reconcile their relationship! Proud of the Blue Lock boys for holding their own so far, and can’t wait to see how the match will end.
This has probably been the volume I have enjoyed and loved the most in the whole story. I really love this story very much. Soccer has always been my favorite sport and that's why I have loved from beginning to end this manga. The characters have evolved so much and I have loved every single one of them. Isagi is by far my favorite character, but Chigiri is the love of my life. I love everything in this story and need so much more. And this is probably my new favorite manga ever.
3rd read i posted some panels and my mutuals ask what the fuck is going on in blue lock and why's rinsagi so gay. i have been asking myself the same question for 10 months.
2nd read -
1st read so many things to address, so little time. mainly, no matter how much i hate how sae treated rin, the itoshi brothers and nagi seishiro are Thee characters, i fear.
Blue locks newly formed team has to go up against japans own team to prove themselves if lost blue lock is no more Bachari takes the offensive but is blocked by japans Oliver Yukimiya takes agace to face against japans Neru but it was stolen and passed Sae takes the ball chigiri tries to block but Sae avoids and passes Gin creates a close save that Sae takes up and scores for japan Rin(Saes younger brother) takes the lead of his team and directs them to a goal made by Nagis Isagi tries to help Rin in the next round but Rin takes it personal A fight between brothers Rin takes the goal making it 2-1
“the one who’s the most coordinated with my best plays… it’s gotta be isagi! i love you, buddy. we’ll smash ‘em with bachira-isagi combo!” “he broke through the rear! you really are perfect bachira! i believe in your dribbling more than anyone.” ahhhh, love love. 🐝🌱
captain oliver aiku is hot. i suppose isagi agrees, because why else would he ask this man to put a collar on him?
"I'd been looking down on you guys... ... But I was wrong!! All of you want nothing...but to forge your destinies with your own hands... You're a bunch...of hungry beasts..."
I don’t know what’s crazier: the first half of the Blue Lock vs. U-20 match; or the fact that we’re 100+ chapters into a sports manga and we’re just now talking positions and strategy.
No, wait. It’s definitely the match. The beginning of this volume officially kicks off the long awaited U-20 match with a Bachira-Isagi combo - and never lets off the gas. I was so hyped the entire volume. It’s so fun to see the Blue Lock Eleven actually work together for once, after all this time of them fighting tooth and nail during the Selections.
But we also get to see that the U-20 team isn’t going to be so easy to beat, either. Itoshi Sae and Aiku Oliver show that they’re going to be the ones to beat if Blue Lock wants any hope of winning this match. Sae is very cool, but I’m ready to see a side of Rin that we’ve yet to experience. Go wild, Itoshi Rin!
ratings of these volumes: Vol. #12: ★★★★☆ (4) Vol. #13: ★★★★☆ (4) Vol. #14: ★★★★☆ (4)
The new blue lock characters are bringing a new fresh face to the cast of characters, and even though some of them really feel like 1-arc characters, their vibe is really cool. Plus we'll get a glimpse of the monsters that we haven't met. Volume 13 felt like a birdge volume in between arcs but the ending got me hyped for the future game and the new rivals outside blue lock. The characters of the U20 look SIIIIIICK. Honestly they are so unique and they just started to give our boys a run for their money and I am loving this arc already. The brothers, isagi evolving, nico finding a new passion?, chigiri facing his fears, the king stepping up, nagi being the boss as usual, reo copying their weapons. What's not to love?
Review for volumes 13 and 14! The last competitions to determine who is going to be in the ultimate team, that aggressive dude is worthless and I really think he should just be disqualified ten times over until he gets his aggression in check, there was just a bit too much blabla and I found myself glazing over, but the competition was so cool and I absolutely loved the competitions and seeing the teams kick ass, plus seeing the top team was fun as well! OK, sure, how it all ended was typical shounen, haha. There was tons of cool moves, action parts, people discovering their inner saiyans and more! I cannot wait to read more!
oh my god i think this is my favorite volume so far, everything is sooo amazing and the match is going soo good, the dynamic between the characters are so good, the goal from nagi, the other characters improvising and showing what they can do, bachira saying woof woof to the other guy, when aryu saved so that the u-20 didn't score a goal i smiled, niko helping, gagamaru being the best goalkeeper, isagi being the key like ego said, the score being 2-1 at the end of the first half of the match, this is so amazing i need to see what’s next omg

4.25/5 The U-20 vs Blue Lock match really takes off in this volume. It's great to learn more about the U-20 team and their playstyles while also seeing our protagonists pushed to do more and learn as they play. I'm excited to see where this match goes in the second half.
ughh this u-20 v blue lock 11 game has me in shamblessssss. the way the itoshi brothers made the whole game their own fight is so funny and iconic to me…. i do hope they make up some how though. maybe? hopefully..?
