Point Blank by Lynessa Layne is the seventh novel in her young adult ‘Don’t Close Your Eyes’ series. There are numerous reasons readers won’t close their eyes, especially those readers in the author’s targeted age group. Kinsley, the main female character throughout this series, seems to come into her own in this volume, at times even taking the lead in being haughty and naughty. While she has always been edgy, she is now bolder and determined to get exactly what she wants. Despite the number of men who crave and love her, and despite her loving their attentions, she sets her sights on the one man she wants and exerts the same amount of energy and persistence that has always led her to victory on the track field. Will she get what and who she wants, and if she does, what will happen to her, given the danger all around? Some adult themes are liberally peppered into this entire series. This novel walked away with significant accolades and two major awards at the recent Killer Nashville Conference. This alone demonstrates the strength, skills and awesome determination of fast-rising author, Lynessa Layne.
