As long as Wandance continues to be this kinetic love letter to dance I will read it for a hundred volumes. It’s absurdly joyous, yet also has lots of delicious drama (seriously, nuts to that one guy) to sink one’s teeth into, befitting its competition manga nature.
Wanda and Kabo have a real moment that shows them connecting as only they know how, which also lets On get some welcome development. This segues into a massive dance competition and the way it shows the major players without getting bogged down in several performances is incredibly clever. It knows exactly what to hit and how hard to hit it.
The real music makes this so contemporary and helps it stand out. I find it particularly neat when I recognize a song that shows up too (it was Billie Eilish this time, I am not that old and out of it). I have no idea how the anime can ever hope to adapt this successfully, but fingers crossed.
