This translation and recompilation of the original 1996 Vozvrashchenie Russian-language edition combines prose fiction written by Ariadna Efron in prison and exile with the memoirs of Ada Federolf, her partner in exile and after in Moscow and Tarusa.
I personally found the introduction a bit too academic, but the content was really interesting. I enjoyed hearing about their lives and seeing the contrast between the two women's perspectives through Ada's memoirs and the stories from Alya.
