I love my romcoms but this was even better than I expected. It's an opposites attract fake dating romcom with the back drop of a a startup dating app.

It is truly laugh out loud. There is this scene when they are at their first fake date, WITH HIS MOTHER, and the female MC mentions meeting when they grabbed the same book. The book literally had me LOLing, let's just say it's not something for mom's ears. #iykyk and if you don't know, this book is worth reading for that scene alone.

This one was super cute and had that old school rom com vibe that I really enjoy. It’s actually been quite a while since I’ve read a straight up rom com and this reminded me how much I like them. Junie was adorable, a true ray of sunshine and light and AJ was her total opposite. She’s a dreamer and he’s more cynical and he definitely doesn’t buy the soulmate, one true love thing. Watching the ones who don’t believe in love fall hard is so fun and this one was entertaining and truly delightful. If you want a lighthearted romance with plenty of laughs and cute moments this was great.

This book is a dual POV, opposites attract, fake dating gem. I loved Juniper “Junie” Parker. She is authentic and quirky. With her graphic t-shirts and fun shoes, she is definitely her own person. She is barely making ends meet, though, while trying to get her matchmaking app (Love Bug) up and running.

Andrew “AJ” Steel runs the company that has an app challenge and with some persistence from his staff, the Love Bug app is in the top ten. AJ has been burned by love and isn’t as open and free like Junie. He doesn’t believe that the app can match true love.

I loved the fake dating aspect, AJ’s mother, and Junkie’s best friend Liv. This is an all around wonderful romance.

Thank you to the author for the gifted copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thank you in advance to the author, Kelly Collins, for providing a complimentary review copy through Kate Rock Book Tours. A positive review was not required nor requested, and all words are my own.

Honestly, I’m not into dating apps, there is SO much that could – and likely has – gone wrong. But, when it goes right – could be a cute or heart-warming story. Just to see how this was going to play out … I definitely wanted to read this.

I mean … this has all the elements to be a great story:

📱 Fake dating trope
🐞 Dating app
🌞 Clumsy “sunshine” girl
👔 “Grumpy” business man … what isn’t to like? It’s almost like Pretty Woman!

Collins introduces readers to:

🐞 Juniper “Junie”
📱 Liv
👔 AJ (Andrew)
📱 Ethan
👜 Maxine
👔 Henry

For some worried about “content” – there is some content that might not pass a clean reader’s “vibe check” one of these is an on-page intimate scene. While not graphic, there are some who prefer “closed door” scenes. Also, there is some “mild” language – he!!, variations of the s-word, and a variation of d@mn. There is a drink mentioned that some might be uncomfortable with – Screaming 0rg@sm.

With that said …

Right off, Collins sets the trap that will ensnare the two potential victims into a sweet, hilarious relationship.

Junie’s Love Bug app is destined to be the next greatest app, and it’s biggest skeptic, might be the biggest supporter.

Junie is at the end of her financial rope – and one I can DEFINITELY relate to. She’s two months behind on rent and needs her app to succeed. Her friend Liv has set up a potential investor for Junie’s “LOVE BUG” dating app. And, Junie needs help with being two-months past due on her rent, and other bills piling up. Of course, the investor isn’t interested and dashes Junie’s dreams. But, Liv has an ace up her sleeve.

AJ Steel’s company is looking for the next big app, and one of the applications is – Junie’s Love Bug app. He, not believing in dating apps, tosses it to the side. He’s forced to reconsider when his analysts veto his rejection, which is part of the rules, and wants him to look into it. To add to his woes, his mother is insistent on matchmaking him, especially since she wants grandbabies.

Just before he meets his mother at a restaurant, he meets up with a sweet woman – Junie. And, to keep his mother from meddling – he asks Junie to be his “fake” girlfriend.

Junie actually likes AJ right off, and he likes her. His mother is curious about her as well.

Then … Junie finds out AJ is “Andrew” Steel, the man behind Steel Enterprises, and he finds out she’s the person behind Love Bug – the app he first rejected.

From the moment they first meet, sparks are apparent, though he promises her – no special treatment. However, since his mother likes Junie, he wants to pay her to be his fake girlfriend, even going so far to take her on a Pretty Woman like shopping spree.

For him, it is fake; for Junie, it’s real. They’re complete opposites, which even his friend Henry says is just what he needs to come out of his social isolation.

Under a pseudonym, AJ tries out the app, which he soon finds just might lead him to Junie and to believe that true love isn’t just a fairytale to sell books and make movies of. AJ soon finds out that what they have is very real, and wants it to be more. There are two problems – the competition and him paying her.
As with all romances – something goes horribly wrong. AJ finds himself trapped between integrity and the woman who made him believe in true, fairytale love.

Just like a movie, it is AJ who is determined to get that happily ever after!

Sweet, honest, and hilarious – this definitely has potential!

And, the story did live up to most of that potential.

I absolutely love when two opposites come together. And, especially when the match is deemed perfect by the most imperfect way to find love in the digital era.

I love how Junie’s app focused more on the “right” match based on interests, intellect, as well as emotional aspects before pairing up with someone. I definitely liked the fire ant and ladybug avatars.

The author definitely brought San Francisco and the Bay Area to life, though I was familiar with the city due to watching Nash Bridges (1996-2001) and Charmed (1998-2006). Her descriptive writing definitely painted vivid images, and I loved the intellectual look at dating and romance.

One “writing structure” issue I had, was the lack of proper transitioning in POV. Usually when it is first person (and even with third), the person who has the current POV is listed at the beginning of the chapter, like: CHAPTER TWO – AJ, or something similar. This didn’t, so I found myself struggling a bit to make sense of who was telling the story.

In addition, readers have to wait until page five (5) (the story starts on page one [1]) to find out who is starting off the story.

The language and on-page intimate scene definitely took me by surprise, as well as the reference to 50 Shades of Grey. That is a highly controversial book/movie series, and one that not all readers might be comfortable with, including those who enjoy lighter sweet romance and clean reads.

I did want more of a conclusion with one storyline. Without spoiling it – there is an issue of sabotage, and even when the person is found out – there is nothing more said or done. The story moves on from there.

Despite the issues, I decided to round up from 3.5 stars to 4 stars.

I did enjoy Junie’s careful, methodical, and intellectual approach to the app, not to mention the Pretty Woman references, so it balanced out.

This was my first introduction to the author’s work, and I would definitely be interested in reading the next book in the series – A Dating Dilemma.

Those who enjoy movies such as Pretty Woman and Notting Hill – I’d suggest checking this one out.

Super cute romance with likeable characters, witty banter between them, and a challenge that can change their lives. I loved getting to know Junie and AJ but am not a fan of the dual POV for romances; it takes away some of the angst for me. Otherwise, a fun read that I highly recommend for a story to devour in one sitting.

Prepare to be delighted by this rom-com's one-of-a-kind characters and intriguing plot. Junie and AJ had great chemistry, and I particularly loved the fake dating trope in the story. It's not very spicy, but it will definitely make you feel the burn. I'm eagerly anticipating the next installment of the Love Bug series. Don't let the rom com label fool you. This book offers much more. Love blossoms between two very different people thanks to a Love Bug. While there is comedic banter, this book delves deeper into the exploration of emotions and their resulting actions. Ms. Collins proves she can tackle important issues in a manner that distinguishes this story from anything the author has written before. Excellent work.

3.5 stars rounded up

You can read all of my reviews at Nerd Girl Loves Books.

This is a fun and flirty romcom set around an app competition. It has several of my favorite tropes including "he falls first" "fake dating trope & billionaire romance.

Junie comes to AJs rescue & pretends to be his girlfriend to appease his matchmaking mother at dinner. The next day, you guessed it, he’s in charge of the app competition she just entered.

Junie is a fun & quirky character that hides her insecurities with a big smile and sparkly Vans. AJ hides a broken heart with sternness & seriousness. They compliment each other when they’re together & fulfill the other’s missing pieces. I enjoyed their flirty banter and easy conversations.

This is a cute, quick read with plenty of 𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘺 𝘞𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯 references, right down to the shopping spree for new clothes.

Dating apps are rough. I met my ex-fiancé on one and I have zero interest in getting back on them anytime soon, if at all. Swipe Right for Romance takes the world of dating apps and puts an adorable, entertaining spin on them. I loved the references to classic romcoms like Pretty Woman, Notting Hill, and Sleepless in Seattle. Junie gave me major Phoebe Buffay from Friends vibes with her eccentric fashion choices and quirky personality and I loved how hard AJ fell for her despite being such opposites. Read if you like dual POV, fake dating, opposites attract, grumpy/sunshine.

With a wonderful twist on the typical Billionaire Trope, this book is a must read for any Rom Com fan who is looking for more than just a few good laughs.

This book was the perfect blend of Ha Ha Comedy and Ah Ha Novel. I love a good side aching rom com, and this book's wonderful meet cute truly sets that stage, but it has so much more with its comic tone that left me smiling throughout the book and presented me with many wonderfully humorous and insightful lines. AJ and Junie will steal your heart and their story is something right out off the silver screen. With wonderfully paced action that never misses a comic beat and dialogue that simmers with tension and banter, AJ and Junie's story will stay with you long after you close the book. Also, I can't say enough about the secondary characters like Henry, Olivia, and Maxine, AJs Mom, who were as carefully written and real as the main characters themselves! I am thrilled to see this is the start of a new series and I will be there for the Olivia's story as soon as it is available!

Just a little teaser of what you will find

“Think of yourself [Junie] as a rare gem. Not quite a pink diamond, mind you.... But something like an alexandrite—complex, shifting, requiring the right light to truly shine. AJ can be your light.”

"I am not a priceless stone coveted by the world.”

“He believes you are.” Maxine gazes into my eyes, searching for something only she knows. “More importantly though, you have to believe it. Set the standard for how people treat you. Don’t be a pearl when you can be a diamond.”

💖That last line IS this book in a nutshell! 💖

This is a standalone opposites attract rom-com.

When Junie enters her Love Bug app into a contest run by AJ's company, they meet and have an instant attraction. There is an element of fake dating, but I don't think anyone truly believes they are fake.

I loved Junie, she was sassy, quirky, klutzy, funny and unapologetically her - she didn't change or adapt for anyone she knew what she wanted and went for it. AJ was more reserved, he clearly wanted someone to fall in love with but hated the dating apps from past experience.

I enjoyed reading about Junie, she was the complete opposite of AJ and they complimented each other - there were lots of funny moments between them. The concept of the app was intriguing, having a different kind of connection before meeting was fun to read.

My only bug-bear is with AJ being so professional I couldn't understand why he was so OK with dating someone in the competition, surely it would have caused instant problems with all the other competitors - the issue is irrelevant towards the end, but I kept thinking all the other competitors would have not been happy at all.

- standalone
- rom-com
- opposites attract
- fake relationship
- grumpy / sunshine

This book is an absolute gem that will leave you laughing, swooning, and eagerly awaiting the next installment in the series. With a refreshing take on the classic billionaire trope, author Kelly Collins has created a masterpiece that goes beyond the typical rom-com formula.

The meet-cute between Junie and AJ is simply magical. It's filled with humor, wit, and undeniable chemistry. From that moment on, I was hooked. The author's writing style is so captivating that I found myself smiling throughout the entire book. The banter between the characters is both hilarious and insightful, adding depth to their personalities and making them feel incredibly real.

But what truly sets this book apart are the secondary characters. Henry, Olivia, and Maxine are written with such care and attention to detail that they become just as important and lovable as the main characters. Their presence adds layers to the story, making it even more enchanting.

The pacing of the story is perfect, never missing a beat. The action flows effortlessly, keeping you engaged from start to finish. And the dialogue? It's a work of art. It simmers with tension and clever banter, making each interaction between AJ and Junie an absolute treat to read.

One of my favorite aspects of this book is the overarching message it sends. Through Maxine's words, we're reminded of the importance of self-worth and setting standards for how we want to be treated. It's a beautiful reminder that we are all diamonds, worthy of love and respect.

This book is a delightful mix of comedy and romance, a true testament to the talent of Kelly Collins. I cannot recommend it enough to fans of the rom-com genre. It will leave you with a warm heart, a big smile, and a craving for more. I can't wait to dive into Olivia's story in the next book of this captivating series.

Disclaimer: I was lucky enough to receive an advance copy of this book from the author, and I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to fall in love with AJ and Junie's story.

This a charming and lighthearted rom-com that delivers plenty of fun and warm fuzzies. With a cast of lovable characters and witty dialogue, it’s the perfect read for anyone in the mood for something breezy yet enjoyable.

One aspect that held me back from being fully immersed in the story was Junie's lack of knowledge about the app she had supposedly created and developed. Her apparent detachment from the project, coupled with her helplessness when it came to dealing with the app's issues, felt inconsistent with her role. This gap in her involvement threw me out of the story at times and made it harder to fully buy into the plot.

Oh my gosh. That was just so stinking adorable. It’s also absolutely side-splittingly funny. AJ and Junie have one of the best meet-cutes I’ve ever read. From that point, they led me on a journey that was part emotional roller-coaster, part night at the Improv, and entirely impossible to resist. They’re approaching life from such different directions that they really shouldn’t work as a couple, but under those surface differences they connect in a fundamental way. I loved this pair. I loved watching them open up to one another. And I fell head over heels for their closing scene. After seeing the teaser for the next book, I can’t wait to see the rest of what the author has in store for Junie’s best friend.

This book made me giddy, the myriad of metaphors, puns, and 80/90’s movie references so nicely referenced by the author were giving me all the feels. 𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘺 𝘞𝘰𝘮𝘢𝘯, 𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘏𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘺 𝘔𝘦𝘵 𝘚𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺, 𝘚𝘭𝘦𝘦𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘚𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘦, 𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘺 𝘪𝘯 𝘗𝘪𝘯𝘬, 𝘕𝘰𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘏𝘪𝘭𝘭..☺️ what’s more the message in this story is a reminder that imperfections make us unique and interesting and to ultimately always be true to yourself.

For just a little bts! Swipe for a pic of my son’s artwork. As soon as he put his little crayon on my page I was like “no we don’t write in our books”…and I caught myself, I said “well I guess thats ok I write in my books don’t I, a lot”. The quote on the next page was too on the nose.

“…his smile genuine and filled with mischief, reminds me that maybe being imperfect is what makes life interesting.”

If you like dual pov, short chapters, fake dating, and a dash of humor then book 1 in the Love Bug series Swipe Right for Romance by Kelly Collins will be a delight.

I didn’t know if I would like a rom-com, but I loved this rom-com! Junie was something else in a good way. She was so quirky, smart, and such fun. I loved that she didn’t care what others thought about her. I was so hoping that her LoveBug app would win the contest she entered it inn the Great App Contest. The bad part was that her developer added his own app in the contest and promised Junie he would support her app also. AJ owned the company and didn’t think her app was worth being judged. I was glad his technical people overrode him. It was so funny how AJ and Junie met before all the people who developed their apps met. Their adventures were so much fun and so funny at times. I wished I was more like her as I read the book. Poor AJ didn’t believe in love and Junie was such a dreamer and believer. It was so hard for Junie as she put everything into her app and was broke. It was heartwarming to see how sure she was of her app and knew it would be a hit and get her out of debt. There were some good laughs and trying times. I strongly encourage you to read the book. I was given a copy and voluntarily wrote a review.

This was a sweet, heart-filled romance with some of my favorite tropes. Fake dating, opposites attract, workplace romance, with a little bit of old school Julia Roberts thrown into the mix. Slow burn - with some angsty build up and overall a quick read. Also, there were two POVs which I really enjoyed.

I enjoyed that it was set in the tech industry - the ideas and structure of the dating app being created were really interesting. I also felt like the author took the relationship up to the very line of what would have been a real power imbalance in the relationship but then pulled it back and recovered which I appreciated.

The FMC was fun and quirky and was a good foil for the MMC. I thought her ability for expression and communication was pretty well done. The MMC definitely had a bit of a redemptive arc that I wanted to see just a bit more of. Overall a fun start to a series!

Thank you to the author and Kate Rock Book Tours for the copy of the book to read & review!

Opposites attract, once again proven in this romcom. AJ is grumpy all the way and Junie, she’s positive, sassy, and she will brighten your day. This book will brighten your day.
This one starts out as fake dating, but they become a match in real life, not just through the dating-app. But because of his past, AJ isn’t one to fall fast. But it was so much fun to see him fall for Junie. They are perfect together, they found their missing piece in life.
This book will make you laugh, but also put you on the emotional rollercoaster. But is it definitely worth adding to your TBR.

A fun rom com
With the December silly season upon us I had not started Kelly’s book yet, BUT once I started I was hooked and so invested in June and AJ’s story that I could not stop reading it.
I absolutely loved this book, it was fun and well written but also really sweet and heartwarming.
Will Junie and AJ get their acts together and realise that they are perfect together?
Can they see that they both compliment each other, quirks and all.
A book I highly recommend as I loved it so much.
Well worth the late night and waking up tired 😊

I loved this rom-com by Kelly Collins. Junie is a fun, quirky, walks to the beat of her own drum character. She believes in true love and soul mates. Along with her best friend Liv, she has created a dating app that is purported to dig deep into the applicant's personality in order to find a real connection not based on physical attraction. AJ doesn't really believe in true love and he certainly doesn't believe in Junie's Love Bug app. Their initial meeting is cute and sets the tone of the book. Definitely grab the bonus scene offered at the end of the story. I'm looking forward to Liv's story in the next book in the series.

Swipe Right For Romance by Kelly Collins

Looking for true love? 💕

There’s an app for that! 📱

⭐️Tropes ⭐️

-rom com
-stand-alone
-fake dating
-grumpy sunshine
-opposites attract

Dive into this side-splitting, soul-stirring romance where technology collides with destiny. It’s a whirlwind adventure of unexpected connections, laugh-out-loud mishaps, and finding love in the most surprising places.

From beginning to end, the characters will capture your attention and curiosity. You will quickly want to become best friends with Juniper Lee Parker (Junie). She is so fun, quirky and relatable.

Junie and two of her friends create a dating app called Love Bug! It’s truly one of it kind. However, they need someone to believe in it just as much as they do. The financial assistance is crucial, as Junie is months behind on her rent and soon to be homeless. Junie’s friend Liv enters them into The Great App Challenge contest as a last resort effort to help their app to take off.

Swipe Right For Romance, is filled with lots ups and downs that will keep you wanting to find out what is going to happen next. It is a well written rom com that will leave you searching for more of Kelly Collin’s books to put on your TBR list.

I truly enjoyed Swipe Right For Romance from start to finish. The characters draw you in from the very beginning. It was such an easy read. Perfect for those who are in a reading slope and need to find just the right book to help you jump back into reading!

Junie has developed a new dating app, and her friend Liv entered it into an app contest run by AJ Steel's company. Junie is quirky and is not afraid to show that side of her. When a random guy meets her in a fancy bar and asks her to play along as his girlfriend, she readily agrees. Turns out, he's AJ, who doesn't believe in dating apps!

The story is an upbeat, fake-dating, stand-up-for-what-you-believe-in rom-com told in alternating chapters. The voices of Junie and AJ are distinct. I really enjoyed the story and want to read the next book, The Dating Dilemma, which releases on March 21, 2024.

A fun and enjoyable reading experience. Junie is a quirky individual who marches to a different drum. I immediately identified with her, as a kindred soul. When she meets AJ, they don't seen to have anything in common. However, he is the Ying to her Yang. The plot is well constructed and draws the reader into it. I laughed at the situations that Junie got herself into. I loved the book and had trouble putting it down.

What a cute Romcom from the get go. I loved Junie and AjJs banter and instant chemistry even though they are the exact opposites!

They meet as strangers in a restaurant bar when AJ is meeting his mother who brings along yet another date for him that he doesn't want. He pretends Junie is his girlfriend.... Then later they proceed to meet as app investor and app maker in a contest his company is heading up.

This was just so cute. There are "Pretty Woman" esque vibes and fun supporting characters and will just have you turning pages for the happy ending!
