Damon is trouble and always planned to leave after clearing his name, but falling for the gorgeous and cheerful bar waiter Sheldon was not part of the plan. Third in series (Jake’s Bar), best if read in order. Grumpy/sunshine. Ticking clock. Dual POV. Sheldon is looking for his HEA, he deserves it after his crappy childhood and all his awful past hookups, and falling for his boss’s ex who arrives bloodied and injured is definitely not a good plan. Damon’s return is complicated, his plan to help his ex is hampered by the loyal group of friends that work at Jake’s Bar, and especially the beautiful elfin Sheldon, who more than captures Damon’s attention. Danger follows Damon, he can’t be trusted, and even Sheldon knows Damon’s not telling the truth about why he’s returned, but the attraction goes both ways and they find themselves confiding about their pasts while growing closer. Sheldon is a fabulous character that has inner strength no matter how many times he’s knocked down, and Damon is committed to reforming, running from his past is even harder when he thinks about leaving Sheldon. This story has some action, some steam, some supportive secondary characters, and quite a bit of emotional interactions between Damon and Sheldon. AG Meiers has some terrific characters in this series, as well as the overarching plotline that involves intrigue and danger has me impatiently awaiting the next book. 4.5 rounded up

Outside the Lines - McScruffyBear & The Elf

‘Sheldon was sex personified, but oh so sweet, too, all hot chocolate in ladybug cups. And underneath it all, the tough survivor, the kid who’s made it through years of foster care and still came out smiling. He’d faced plenty of adversity. Adversity made some people crumble to dust, but pressure had only turned Sheldon into a diamond, bright and incredibly precious.’

The delicious third book in AG Meiers’ Jake’s Bar series focuses on our green-eyed little redhead Sheldon, who has somehow conquered adversity and continues to find the best in others, while sassily attempting to control the heart of an older, and unwelcome, acquaintance of Jake’s.

Danger continues to follow this motley crew of loyal, yet unexpected found family, and when Damon returns things get even more perilous.

Who can be trusted and who is behind the pressure to find fault within the family of Jake’s rich cop boyfriend? Damon is entangled in the deception and with his past, he needs to fight to not only stay alive, but to find it in his own heart to accept the love that Sheldon, and his mangy cat Hellfire, so desperately want to give him.

I just read all three books in this wonderful series, which is at the top of my BEST list for this year!

I’ve read all the previous books in this series and this story is a another great example why I love this series. The author deals with broken characters, gives great background explaining what broke them and what it takes to help them face the future.
This story centers on Sheldon, an employee at Jake’s bar and Damon, a character from Jake’s past.
Sheldon is a lot quirky with a horrible past. No one seems to stick around him and he is getting desperate for a permanent relationship and home.
Damon, who was Jake’s bff growing up has a past with Jake and all of a sudden shows up at Jake’s bar. His returning shakes up everyone and causes a ripple in Jake and Con’s relationship.
This is a heart wrenching story when you have both main characters who break your heart. I love seeing the softer side of Damon and the fierce side of Sheldon.
There is a bit of a mystery going on but it doesn’t get resolved. That is the one part I hate about a continuing series where questions are lurking but unanswered. Now it’s just waiting for the next book and hopefully getting more answers.

Okay, I admit, I was waiting for the 3rd book in the Jake’s Bar series and more or less devoured it in one night. Outside the Line is that perfect mix of suspense and romance and humor. I burst out laughing quite a few times. So well done.

It’s Sheldon’s story. Jake’s flighty, sassy, cross-dressing waiter, who is constantly causing trouble. (I wish there were pics of Sheldon’s OOTD somewhere.) Sheldon’s mission to find true love gets seriously off track when Damon Stryker stumbles injured into the bar - THE Damon Stryker, who -10 years ago- stole Jake’s Bar’s startup money and then disappeared. And off we go!! on a whirlwind adventure with quirky characters, plot twists and spicy, sexy romance.

AG Meiers’ stories are mostly character-driven, so each of the 3 books in this series are a little different, which makes Jake’s Bar such an awesome read. The mystery plot, this time, is maybe not quite as crisp as in the first two books, but there’s plenty of suspense, action and danger.

I eagerly await the next book in this series.

So excited for Sheldon's story! He is always so upbeat and happy despite his absolutely horrible luck in the romance department. He is now holding out for the perfect man. Well best laid plans and all. Into his life literally drops his bosses wreck of an Ex. Of course, his treacherous heart and libido are immediately peaked! Damon is a big gruff biker who is not at a good point in his life. I really liked the realistic obstacles these two faced because want it or not, they were drawn to each other. We get Damon's POV as well and I appreciated how much he cared for but genuinely needed Sheldon.

Oh man, there are few things better than a villain redemption story, and we’ve heard all about Damon from the beginning…so when it’s time for his book you knew it was going to be good!
But Sheldon? Damon wasn’t prepared for him!
The two of them together make for an explosive and interesting couple!

I loved this book a lot, it brought some closure to Jake and everything that’s happened, and Damon even got some closure himself!

Scandal, intrigue and love. Sheldon wants love and a forever home, Damon doesn’t want anything to tie him to a single place. Yet Sheldon quickly becomes the most important person ever in his life. But can he keep him safe with all the stuff he’s involved in? Can he really have someone in his life or will Damons need to run destroy Sheldon?

Sheldon’s time to shine.
You definitely get a feel for his character - strong but spacey, flightly but loyal too.
The cat adds a dynamic.
The corruption mystery is still lingering in the background, and Con’s family continues to be involved.
Damon is a man on the edge, more broken than tough despite how he portrays himself.
Looking forward to Jazz’s story though looks like Noel is next.

This book was sexy, sweet and a tear jerker! Best book in the series! Great to read in order, but it stands on its own.

Finally, Sheldon’s story! This sparkly sunshine has been one of my favorites since the first book! And AG adds such a grouch Damon, the ex- only known from Jake’s hurt and a ten year old picture. Then you have all the rest of the Jake’s Bar family and the continuing suspense arc. You get a story different
H worth the wait.Thse two have so much work for their HEA. I really love how they are not magically healed by their love for each other. Sheldon has to learn about lines in sand, Damon seeks professional help. They are there to support each other. I love the “forever home” gesture, Jake and Damon’s comunicating, I wish I could say this could be read as a standalone but there’s so many threads from the first two books still being woven, being carried over into the next story. (And it should be another great read!) Oh, the smexy times, works with narrative, so whew!
