Another heart pounding Novella! There is so much to cover but I don't want to give anything away either. Such a great book, I can't wait to get back into the next part of the adventure. 😎
Publishing a book labeled as “6.5” is pretty much a guarantee that it’s a setup for something, and as soon as I finished it I immediately ordered the next one.
With Burnett’s K9 series, it really helps to have read earlier volumes to know the characters and some of the dynamics. That’s not a problem if you enjoy canine stories, by the way. My one quibble is that some of what she intended as surprise reveals were given away early on. At the same time, I suspect she planted a few red herrings along the way that we’ll only discover when the next book arrives.
QUALIFIED (Tin Star K9 Series Book 6.5), my fourteenth read from author Jodi Burnett, who has become one of my favorite authors. This short, 74-page continues the trend of well-written, enjoyable books, it caught my attention in the opening pages & I never put it down until completed, somewhat satisfying my thirst for more Caitlyn & Renegade. As Burnett expands her writings over 4 primary characters it has improved all four. She's created a complete world in which her primary characters interact with an ever-expanding world of repeat characters, some very familiar from her other series. A Jodi Burnett book is like a visit from an old friend. "I received a free Kindle copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review, liking it so much I went out & bought it." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I look forward to reading more in this series & more from this author, and look forward to Trails (Tin Star K9 Series Book 7) when it's published in May of 2024. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
Don't get me wrong. I like this author and have read many of her books. Usually find them at least 4 star. This book is different. It is the welcome story of how Renegade performs in a Championship show. And if you have read ..TRIALS you know the eventual landing of the story. BUT if you have not read TRIALS this is the worst kind of cliff hanger IMO. Jodi you are a better writer than to have to resort to this!
Caitlyn loves dogs, particularly Renegade. She works hard with Renegade to make him the best K-9 at what he does. In this story she pushes herself and Renegade harder and farther than she ever has before. Renegade excels, as expected, but life takes an ugly turn from Caitlyn and Colt. As this is a short Novella, the reader is left hanging on the eventual outcome.
Another side of K-9 training with Caitlin showing how much work is out into training for both partners to do their job. There is also a good story that Burnett gives us with a sad and frightening ending. Hoping it continues in #7 Tin Star.
The series just gets better and better. Well developed characters that you get invested into them and the plot line the details that Ms Burnett has obviously spent a lot of time on and make all that much better,
The absolute best series of books I have ever read. I love everything Jodi writes. This is actually my second time reading this book. I have not found anything that I like better to read. Birdie Cowan
A fast paced, exciting short story in this series. Caitlyn & her K-9 partner, Renegade, enter a competition in Arizona. The competition is intense but what co.we next is jaw dropping. You don't want to miss this read, it's fantastic!!
Jodi Burnett has provided her readers with an insight into the intense specialized training that police dogs and their handlers require. In this novella Caitlyn and her K9, Renegade, put in many hours as they prepare to qualify for recertification.
Of course, it is not only about training. We spend a little time becoming reacquainted with Caitlyn’s family and there is also the anticipated thriller element. Could Caitlyn and her dog be at risk?
This is a short novella, but that does not keep the author from bringing her characters to life or prevent the reader of being ever aware of the danger lurking in the shadows.
This book does end with a cliff hanger and a big surprise for Caitlyn and Colt. I’m anxiously awaiting the next book to see how things work out.
