A fascinating book featuring information and photos of numerous National Trust locations over England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Including pictures of productions over each location and describing the stunning histories and atmosphere each location creates/is created by film. I recommend National Trust on Screen to anyone interested in the locations behind the film; captured by the camera as snippets of fantasy or history when they have deep roots in British history (and discourse, but that's for another book).
Thank you, NetGalley and Collins Reference | National Trust Books for sending me an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I often admire the beautiful locations I see on TV and Screen and I often ask ‘ooo I wonder where that was filmed! *cue frantic googling*. Well wonder no more. This book has a fantastic spread of many recognisable (and some not so) locations we’ve come to know and love from the big screen.
The pictures included are stunning and the behind the scenes glimpses felt like we were being let in on a secret. We got insights behind iconic filming moments from where the cast like to hang out, unseen moments and the set up to shooting. I seriously loved reading this and it was a super addicting and informative read.
Kudos to the National Trust for being so accommodating to the film industry and kudos to the writers for providing such an enjoyable and informative read about all things filming. They succinctly describe the show or movie they were featuring, to the shot we saw on screen and how it was set up. As someone who loves the behind the scenes, it was a great read!
I also now have several new places to add to my must see list! I love going to see National Trust properties and they always make for such great trips. After this book, it’ll definitely having you itching to get out there or rewatching beloved old favourite shows and movies!
Thank you to the authors and publisher for this book on NetGalley in return for my honest thoughts and review.
I don't give a star rating to the nonfiction I read but I did really enjoy reading about all the filming locations in this one. I will use this to help plan my next adventure around the UK. I have seen some of the locations mentioned in the book but I am eager to visit more.
