What happens when three lonely people end up together at Christmas? Octogenarian Victor Shaw is struggling. He lost his beloved wife, Mavis, earlier in the year and life without her just isn’t the same. He misses her company, her cooking and most of all, being able to hold her in his arms. Viking Leif Thorsgard has his dog, Magnus, and his business as a tree surgeon, but now and then he feels like something’s missing from his life. Flora Reid is dedicated to her career in recruitment. She wants nothing more than to work hard and then hide away in her rented house in Wisteria Hollow. Not so long ago, she thought she’d be seeing in the new year with a ring on her finger, but a shocking discovery destroyed that dream. Now single, she’s certainly not ready to mingle. But, when she comes across Victor and Leif one day at the local park, she sees something in them that she’s seen in herself, and finally she feels able to admit that she’s lonely too. Victor needs some help at home and Leif and Flora are happy to oblige. Can friends really be the family they choose for themselves this Christmas on Sunflower Street?

I have loved this story about victor. It makes you think just a small good deed can make such a difference to someone on there own be they young or old. When you don't see anyone day in day out it wears you down. So if anyone knows of someone on their own either because like victor their partner dies and they have no family. They don't want to be a burden to anyone. Just offering to take them shopping or do a bit of shopping for them ask them if they would like to go for a coffee or a swift pint in the local pub or even offer to do a bit of gardening for them. What ever you think may help to brighten their day. Its Amazing what just one good turn can do. Even just saying hello how are you when passing on the street instead of just ignoring and walking past. I would recommend this book to be read by everyone its just such an amazing book it defiantly makes you think. Well done Rachel. Keep up the good writting. I cant wait for the next one.
Wow I loved this book from start to finish ad was hooked I didn’t want to put it down but also tried to pace myself so it didn’t end too quickly. I looked forward to reading all about Flora Victor and Leif every spare moment anticipating what would come next, I love how it ended on a cliff hanger which will hopefully make way for sequels as their story is only just beginning
A festive feel good story set on Sunflower Street. Victor has lost his wife and he’s grieving, when he meets Flora and Leif through Magnus(Lief’s dog) his life changes for the better as does theirs. A beautiful uplifting story about the power of friendship and community.
Loved this story & more about the lives of people on Sunflower Street. Wisteria Hollow sounds like a magical place to live & Rachel makes you feel like a character in her book.
This story is different from the rest of the series in that it focuses on the relationship between 3 people and finding the "family" that you need. There is a side romance blossoming but I don't feel that it takes up the main focus. Really enjoyed this one.
I really got lost in this lovely book. It's a warm happy and a beautiful story. I really didn't want it to end I would happily read about these 3 friends forever.
