I received this as a ARC and am leaving a comment on my own. This was my second book by this author, and part of a continuing story. By no means do you need to read the other books to understand this one.

The book overall is a good read. Our main FMC is proper and I feel like she says a whole lot without saying a whole lot. Our MMC 100% would have been my favorite if he would have had a wee more backbone. There were a lot of things that he did that don’t make sense being a UC.

Otherwise is a easy read

Protecting her from the Mafia

Nina is with her niece when the men come to kill her sister. After hiding the little girl she tries to get to her phone but is caught. Nico has been undercover for three years and thought Nina would be out of the house when they attacked; now he needs to keep her locked up. He has to make her understand her life as Nina is over, to ensure she's safe from the mafia boss. But as they spend time together, they draw closer; can he save her and finish the undercover job he was assigned?

A well written story which starts in the middle of action and draws you straight in, you won't want to put it down. It has a lovely, slow build, romance, with action, drama, murder, suspense, misunderstandings and a great HEA.

This is the second book in this series (world) and while you don't have to read the first one to understand and appreciate this one, it doesn't hurt either. Both are great stories!
Nina is in trouble and Nico has been assigned to protect her. But the easiest way for him to do that is to infiltrate the mafia and keep an eye on her from there. They try and fail to resist the attraction between them, especially when they are forced to spend a lot of time close together. There is a little bit of a protector syndrome when she finds out who he really is, but they talk about it like adults (can you imagine) and it's fine. For a fictitious situation, these two are the most realistic characters I have read.

I don't know why the whole 'undercover' part of the title went past my head because I was surprised he was FBI. lol

E-Arc Review

This definitely was a good story. Of course I knew how it was going to end because who wouldn't. It is a little bit of Stockholm Syndrome in this story and technically that is discussed which makes it more realistic.

I sort of wish it was a little longer because there is so much backstory info that I want, but that's just me. Plus this is part of a whole universe so that's something haha I like stories that are detailed in everything.

In the end, this was a nice read with a little bit of steam that I enjoyed completely.
