Be Still #3

A Little Luck

Rate this book
Adam Stone is not a saint.
He’s six-foot-two, naughty blue eyes, cocky grin, and a bod blessed by the gods.
He’s a surfer, a soldier, a pilot, and he’s been my friend since I moved to our small town when we were just kids.

But another man took my hand.
He took my innocence, took my trust, and broke my heart.
I was young. I didn’t know love could be a weapon.
I didn’t know the hand that caressed you could also cut you.

Now that man is dead, and I’m a single-mom survivor wearing a mask so perfect, no one knows the truth. Trust doesn’t come easy, and surviving is a hard habit to break.

But when a plumbing disaster leaves me homeless, one night in Adam Stone’s (supposedly) empty bed changes everything.
I’ve hidden my scars so long, I don’t know how else to be, but I want to try.

I’m in love with Adam Stone. I love every glance, every wink, every protective touch…
He says he’s different. He says he loves me and my son, and he wants to take care of us.
I believe in this love.
All I need is a little luck.

(A LITTLE LUCK is a spicy small-town, single mom romance with elements of forced proximity, only one bed, who did this to you, he falls first, and a touch of suspense. No cheating. No cliffhanger.)

I wasn’t expecting the rush of emotions this book stirred within me. My heart ached for Piper and what she had experienced. Adam was amazing. He was so protective and tender with her as well as her son, Ryan. Watching this trio grow closer, overcome the past and move forward was absolutely beautiful.

May be a black-and-white image of one or more people, beard and bedroom

This is well written with characters that are completely relatable. While it is a bit heavier than the previous books, it had the perfect mix of humor, relationship angst, drama, steam and emotions. I’m excited that another couple has made their voices heard and will be getting their own book next.

This was okay; I did enjoy it, but I feel like something's missing in the plot, and I can't fully get invested in the whole story.

Piper and Adam have been friends since they were teenagers. But Adam's best friend, Rex, made the first move on Piper, so she ended up dating him. This part kind of bothers me because Piper was attracted to both of them, maybe because they were young and they didn't know any better, but I did expect her to choose Adam instead of Rex.

Anyway, Rex changed and became abusive in their relationship. He likes to cut Piper to mark her and to instill in her that she belongs to him. This behavior lasted for years, and she didn't leave because she's scared of him. The night she found out she's pregnant was the same night Rex died from a car accident, and she was just 20 at the time. Rex's death gave her some sort of freedom, but the trauma he left lingers for the next few years.

Adam was a wreck when Rex died; he felt sad and guilty for feeling relieved that he's no longer with Piper. He doesn't know about the abuse, so he thinks he's a crappy friend for having those thoughts about Piper. Because of his grief, he indulged in alcohol and drugs to numb everything. He was a mess when Piper gave birth, and when he went to the hospital looking like crap, she told him to stay away from her until he fixed himself.

So Adam's brother sent him to the Navy for the next five years to clear his act. He got back as a different person and decided to finally be with Piper.

But Piper has trust issues, and she's not ready to be in a relationship. So she kept Adam at arm's length for the next three years. She put him in the friend zone despite feeling drawn towards him. I can only imagine the horror she went through, and I don't have it in me to judge her for taking a long time to get past her trauma.

Then, when Adam decided to finally move on because Piper still wouldn't give him a chance, some old pipes broke down in Piper's apartment, and she ended up staying at his house. Of course, with forced proximity, they eventually embraced the attraction, but it's not until 80% that they've dropped the love bomb.

Adam wanted to know everything, but he didn't want to push her, so he exhibited this never-ending patience and understanding for Piper. And when she finally told him her truth, he got so mad that he let her get hurt and wondered why he let the abuse go on for so long or why he didn't see the signs. After this revelation, they started to open up and eventually find their rhythm.

Anyway, this was intriguing because of the missing person added to the plot. I didn't have an idea who that was until the 70%-ish part of the story. I also like Adam's relationship with Piper's son, Ryan. He's been a good dad figure for him since he was born, and I really enjoyed their scenes together.

As for the romance, maybe because it was already established, there's no build-up anymore here. I did feel the chemistry between them, but I think something is still flat with their relationship, or this could be a me case.

Piper's stonewalling made their relationship surface-level because they never talked things out and were more about the physical stuff. But I have to say, the smut was really good here—way too much for my liking for how many times it happened, but hot nonetheless.

Overall, this was a good story and still an enjoyable one. I love the found family, friendship, and the representation of therapy.

PS: Idk how to feel about the pop culture reference to Taylor Swift. I love her, but the idea that the FMC in the next book is her lookalike and impersonator is kind of bothering me. I love Taylor, but I don't want to imagine her face in a fictional FMC; I would only end up not taking that seriously. 😅

this was a really cute single mom, small town, pining for years romance. adam really put in the work to be worthy of her and her son and it was ADORABLE. i wish there was a little less happening on the side because it distracted from the romance a little bit but overall, it was so cute.

This wasn’t bad but I wish we got more Piper and Adam. I felt there was too much going on with all of the side characters we barley saw the two of them together apart from them having sex 🥱

A Heartfelt Journey of Love and Redemption 🌟🌟

Dive into the enchanting world of "A Little Luck," where love blooms amidst the challenges of life, leaving you breathless and yearning for more. 💖📖

From the first page, Tia Louise crafts a tale that encompasses the best tropes, seamlessly blending friends-to-lovers, single mom struggles, the magic of a small town, and the irresistible allure of the "only one bed" scenario. It's a spicy, emotional rollercoaster that grips you from the start and refuses to let go. 🎢

Standing tall at six-foot-two, with naughty blue eyes and a cocky grin, he embodies the perfect blend of charm and strength. Piper's journey is one of resilience, with a haunting past that has left scars on her heart. The narrative skillfully unfolds the layers of her life, revealing a survivor who wears a flawless mask, hiding the truth from the world. Trust, shattered once, is a delicate thing for Piper, making survival a daily battle. 💪🎭

The story takes an unexpected turn when a plumbing disaster leaves Piper homeless, setting the stage for a night that changes everything. The "supposedly" empty bed of Adam Stone becomes the catalyst for a love story that transcends scars and masks, a love that's determined to heal and rebuild. 💏❤️

The chemistry between Piper and Adam is palpable, each glance, wink, and protective touch adding to the magnetic pull that draws them closer. Tia Louise masterfully weaves suspense into the storyline, keeping readers on the edge of their seats, eagerly turning pages to uncover the next twist and turn. 🔄🤯

I normally do not read series books our of order because my OCD kicks in BUT I decided to try this one because it was on like 5 of my author's newsletters and sounded great. It screamed second chance romance (which I LOVE) without the actual first romance. This is a friends to lover romance with a TON of angst and pining. I REALLY enjoyed this and definitely plan on diving into the first two books very soon.

Adam has been wanting Piper as his since he can remember, but his best friend Rex made the move first and Adam backed off. Rex has since died and Adam spiraled out of control. Everything came to a head the night that Piper had her son. Adam showed up and realized that they were meant to be a family but he had to get his act together. He joined the military and ended up traveling around to help missions for the next 8 years, but now the time has come for him to make himself clear. Piper and him have been skirting around and flirting with each other and then there is the memory of that kiss that indicated she wanted more. Adam makes himself clear about what he wants and Piper freaks out. He takes it as a rejection and runs away planning to return for his brother's wedding.

In the meantime, Piper has her own demons that she has been dealing with. She is ashamed of her past and no one in her life knows what she has gone through. There is a disaster at her house and so she ends up at Adam's house while he is gone. Of course he comes home a night early and they have their moment. Both Adam and Piper recognize that this is right and this is what they want. But will Piper be able to overcome her demons and express herself to Adam? Will he think of her differently?

This was a wonderful story of overcoming past abuse and trauma and realizing the people closest to you will love you no matter what. The steamy scenes were perfectly steamy. The buildup to Piper opening herself up. Adam's reaction to everything. This made me feel a ton of emotions and ended with a massive HEA!! If you haven't started this series I recommend you dive in!

I am very much looking forward to book 4 too with the Taylor Swift look alike and James Dean bad boy. I think it is coming out in March- my goal would be to read the other books before then!!

“I thought you didn’t believe in luck.” She winks at me. “I believe you can find a little luck, and if you can’t, you can make a little of your own.”

This book was beautiful!!!

Piper and Adam's love story wasn't sunshine and rainbows. They both went through their own struggles. But once they finally accepted, they needed and wanted each other they both began to heal!

Adam with Ryan was one of my favorite parts of the stories! 😍

ARC BOOK REVIEW

This book was so emotional and dove straight into the real world of living with trauma. The way Tia wrote this was perfect, showed the ups and downs of life, and how we get through them.

The characters in A Little Life deserve the world in my eyes. Piper had been through so much throughout her life, with being in an extremely toxic and physically abusive relationship until she found out that she was pregnant on the same day that her abuser finally died. She felt she was finally set free from all of that, but the cuts and mental trauma still remained, but she got the one thing good in her life from all of that being her son Ryan.

Piper truly deserved the best in life, and the author gave her this in the form of Adam Stone, Adam had previously been lost in life until he joined the military and found his way again. Adam had always been in love with Piper and is the exact kind of guy who would stick around until she was ready to have and be with him.

The plot had so many layers, but seeing the moments where Piper let herself be truly happy with Adam was worth the wait. Seeing them together and how much they cared for one another and especially the scene where Adam finds out about what his best friend Rex did to her while she was in a relationship with her, and how Adam responded to that really showed how much he loves her and that she would never be harmed again.

I loved seeing Adam interact with Piper's son Ryan and how much he loved him as a son even as soon as he was born, and how much time he spent with him just warmed my heart.

As well as this love story, we find out the truth behind Piper's mum and all that she went through to keep Piper safe as well. All the background characters were absolutely amazing, and I loved this book as a whole. I laughed, cried, and most importantly, I loved this story throughout.

✨️Friends to lovers
✨️It's always been you
✨️Single mom
✨️Small town

It's clear that Piper and Adam are meant to be. Even though the feelings have been there for years, it never seemed like the right time for them. Until Adam made their relationship happen.

I confess, I felt for Piper because of everything she's been through. Not only that, but I loved the growth she experienced throughout the story. It's good that she has Adam, who ends up being a safe haven. He loves her and cares a lot about her and Ryan.

Adam is also a character who underwent significant growth throughout the story, and I loved that he ends up being a father figure to Ryan, even before getting involved with Piper.

Since I started reading this series, Adam has been my favorite Stone brother, so finally reading his book made me love him even more, like Alex? Who knows you?

What made me cry with this book? The story of this couple is not easy, they have known each other since high school, but Piper was the girlfriend of Adam's best friend and although he had feelings, he could not do anything... until his best friend died in an accident and left Piper alone and pregnant.

Piper's story is so heartbreaking that it broke my heart, but to see how good a mother she is to Ryan, how she has moved forward with the town newspaper, putting the pieces back together, and not only that, to see Adam at the beginning of the book (the prologue) was a shock to me, it wasn't the one we met in the first books and to be able to see that and see where he is now is something wonderful to read because you see the change he has made for Piper and Ryan.

The relationship of those two when they are finally together is dynamite, that even though they are hiding it, everyone can tell they are together because they look happy, I love Adam and Ryan's relationship so much, the father and son relationship they have is beautiful because even though Ryan doesn't have Stone blood running through his veins, you can feel how Adam loves him as his own. The beautiful friendship that Piper has with the girls is something that I love from the other books and it comes back here with more strength. How supportive are they? How good friends are they? We should all have a circle of friends like that, because not only they, but the Stone brothers are a force to be reckoned with.

Well in this book they gave me all the answers I needed from the first book, it was a nice conclusion for this group of friends and for the Stone brothers and now I can't wait until March to read the next book in this series.

Thanks to the author and The Author Agency for the e-arc in exchange for my honest review!!

We have another wonderful book from the "Be still" series. This one develops the love story between Piper and Adam.

Those two had been in love with each other since they were young, but before Adam managed to confess his love to her, his best friend beat him to it. After a couple of years, Piper got pregnant, and his friend suddenly passed away. This time he wanted a chance with her, but at the same time he was grieving his friend. With that, Adam's struggles with depression and drugs got the better of him, but Piper never wanted to see him this way. In order for him to do that, he had to change a lot of things in his life and to win Piper's love.

Years passed, Adam was still in love with Piper, and he decided that it was finally their time. But there were quite a lot of obstacles in front of him, considering the secrets she was keeping from him. Their love was worth fighting for, and they deserved their happily ever after.

I really loved both of them together. Their scenes were really sweet. I could see that they deeply loved each other and I also understood Piper's insecurities. She had a deep secret, connected with her ex-boyfriend and didn't know how Adam and her friends would react when she told them the truth about Rex. She was so in love with him and her heart and at one point her heart nearly broke seeing that Adam's patience ended, and he went away for a while to get his feelings towards her under control. But Adam loved her, and he knew that there was something she was hiding from him. He knew he had to be more persistent, so they could have a future.

Seeing them finally be together was so exciting for me, and I was happy. What was more beautiful - Piper's adorable son's relationship with Adam. They were like real father and son and their bond was getting stronger and stronger with every single day.

The love scenes between them...they were hot, hot, hot 🔥🔥🔥. There was plenty of kink and smut and believe me, I was there for it 🥵🥵🥵. Tia Louise never disappoints me 😍!

Throw in some mystery in a small town and the book was really gorgeous.

Overall, I loved reading Piper and Adam's love story and I can't wait to read Raif and Jemima's book when it comes out ❤️.

“𝐘𝐨𝐮’𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐝 𝐦𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝.”

In her small town romance A Little Luck, Tia Louise follows pilot Adam Stone and newswoman Piper Jackson.

This novel was quite emotional from the start, especially in light of what Piper Ann had to go through. It was also quite wholesome seeing Adam's patience with Piper and his affection for Ryan as if he were his own son. But I really appreciated the way Tia carefully wrote about and handled such a difficult subject.

The mystery and suspense throughout the novel made the book 10x better. The suspense just served to add to the already amazing romance and pinning.

All in all, considering I am in love with all of the Stone brothers and their found family, Tia has not been disappointing with the Be Still series!

☾⋆⁺₊🎧✩°。 0:58 ──♡───── 3:47 ☾⋆⁺₊🎧✩°。

🎶 I don’t want your body but I hate to think about you with somebody else. 🎶

Piper Jackson (h) is a single mother, but with the support of her ex-husband’s best friends, life has been easier with her son Ryan. He has been there every step of the way, but she is terrified if she tells Adam Stone (H) the truth about Rex, he’ll see her differently.

─── ・ 。゚☆: THOUGHTS*.☽ .*:☆゚. ───

“You can’t be around my son like this.” I swallow the knot at the base of my throat. “Or me.”

“What are you saying?” He tries to smile, but his dark brow furrows.

“You have to go.”

“Don’t come back until you’re clean.”

I have issues with books where romance already exists, and the reader doesn’t get to see how the two fell in love. It’s pre-established that Piper liked Adam first, but she settled for Rex, Adam’s best friend, because Adam never acted on his feelings. I mean, why would he? If you’re dating his best friend and he’s a loyal guy, then he won’t ruin a friendship to get the girl. Piper shouldn’t have settled and led the other on to the point where she ended up marrying him and having his child if she knew she never wanted him. That’s my take. What intrigued Piper about Adam? How did she find him more interesting than Rex? Did Rex know that she wasn’t his entirely? There are a lot of unanswered questions and a lot to think about.

“Beautiful boy.” His voice is low and rich. “You look just like her.”

The baby sneezes, and Adam’s eyebrows lift. “Bless you,” he laughs, and I shift in the bed, sitting up slowly, drawing his attention.

As soon as the book starts, Rex is no longer in the picture, and Piper feels immense relief that he is gone, which is valid. At this point, she has just given birth to Ryan, and Adam visits her in the hospital, but she notices he’s under the influence and tells him not to come near her or her son until he is clean. That’s what he does. He leaves for eight years because he serves in the military, and when he returns, the reader knows that he’s been present in her life, but most importantly, Ryan’s. He has acted as a father figure and witnessed all his firsts, but Piper still does not want to change the relationship from platonic to romantic. Adam doesn’t quite understand why Piper is reluctant to be with him if he’s shown that he is there to stay, but he loves her so much that he is willing to compromise.

“You know why not. I can’t play with Ryan’s life. He has to have stability. He’s already lost so much.”

“I’ve been here for him every day since he started kindergarten. I’m one of the most stable things in his life.”

Adam has no idea about the history of abuse that Piper dealt with while she was with Rex, so he assumes that she is dealing with her insecurities and she’s afraid. Meanwhile, she isn’t willing to be upfront yet because she’s worried about ruining Adam’s image of Rex when she knows how close they are to each other. Now, this goes on for the majority of the book. Adam is straightforward, tells Piper that he wants her, and makes his feelings known that he would be there for her and Adam, but she keeps pushing him away. Usually, I would appreciate the slow burn, but he’s been this involved for THREE YEARS; at some point, (1) Tell him that you want to be with him officially, (2) Let him move on and stop leading him on. It’s unfair to Adam because he kept waiting for someone who would probably never make the first move and reciprocate the need for commitment if he hadn’t kept insisting.

“I’m sorry. I’m not trying to push you, but it’s been three years. If it’s never going to happen for us, I need you to tell me.”

“Don’t apologize.” Her voice trembles, and her eyes, smoky gold with intense green, meet mine. “There’s just so much… and I know you’ve been patient. I’m so grateful for all you’ve done for Ryan and me. It hurts me to think I might never get past…”

He even goes away for a while to see if he can move on and live without her, and she is upset that he has said goodbye to everyone but her and still remains in contact with everyone but her. Was she really confused? This man is always pouring his heart out, is there for your child when he treats him like his own, and still gives him the bare minimum. I am not saying she owes him anything because Adam didn’t care for Ryan to get to her, but at the same time, she needed to set him loose if she wasn’t willing to be with him. Then, she was jealous when her friend’s little sister was flirting with him. GIRL. He doesn’t care about anyone else but you. He could be HERS if she wanted, but she wasn’t accepting that as a choice. She was seething in her jealousy when she didn’t need to be. This all seemed quite a bit toxic to me, and I didn’t care about the outcome of the relationship.

He hands his phone to my mother, and I watch stunned. “Adam sent you a video?”

“Yeah, we text every day. You don’t?” Ryan’s brow is furrowed, and he seems genuinely confused.

“I guess I thought he wanted space.” My voice is quiet, and I feel my mother’s eyes on me again.

Adam’s relationship with Ryan is super sweet. That is HIS kid, and he never treated him as a means of being closer to Piper. He has been involved in the parenting and special moments that all fathers should be present for with their kid. If things hadn’t worked out between Piper and Adam, Ryan would have remained his constant. Even when Adam needed space from Piper, he contacted Ryan to keep him updated and to hear about his life. THAT was worth reading about. I didn’t care about the romance, but I was involved in Adam’s self-improvement journey and how he managed to redirect his life when he was on the bad path after Rex’s death
.
“You’re the love of my life.” I say the words, and he looks up.

“I don’t want you to hide from me anymore. I want all of you.”

Now, the romance was irrelevant to me. Considering this is a ROMANCE book that led to the downfall of this story. Not to mention the random murder mystery side plot, the introduction of a Taylor Swift lookalike character, and references to her music and James Dean. I am beginning to think authors are running out of ideas and are monopolizing Swifties and using it as a marketing tool, but it’s not the approach they aim for. This was just thrown in for no reason but to introduce the next book in the series, and it took away from Piper and Adam. There is also the inappropriate and unnecessary mention where Adam suggests he’s Piper’s slave. HELLO? The man just couldn’t have said IM YOURS? There were SO many ways that could have replaced the slave comment. It was just a major red flag, and who allowed this in the first place? How does this fit into a romance book? It’s wrong, and I didn’t like that.

This is questionable. The timeline was already not appealing because we know very little about how the characters fell in love; they were already in love. Then he’s gone for years and comes back, and he is her partner without the benefits. I wasn’t a fan of this book, nor were some random elements inserted that took away from the central plot.

If Piper didn’t have bad luck, she’d have no luck at all. From her poor choice in husband to the way that he tragically dies leaving her to raise their unborn son alone, she’s always felt like the universe has been laughing at her. Three hard months go by since his death, and it’s finally time to give birth. When her late husband’s best friend rolls into the hospital to meet her baby high and drunk, she can’t bear to see him throw his life away.

She refuses to lose a second man that she loves. The only way to protect her heart and her son is to issue an ultimatum. If Adam wants to still be part of their lives, he needs to clean his act up.

With the help of his brother, Adam does exactly that. He joins the military, and comes back changed man years later. Despite his struggles after his best friend’s death he’s always been someone Piper could count on, and now he’s also a great role model for her son. (Swoon) Things are seemingly perfect, but Piper is still refusing to let him into her heart. He’s more than proven himself, but it doesn’t seem like it’s enough.

I loved this book! I was apprehensive about the premise, but this book took me by surprise. I tend to be picky about my friends to lovers books, because they often lack the tension I’m craving. BUT NOT THIS ONE. I was on the edge of my seat! Although there’s some lack of communication here, I enjoyed watching the story play out. Piper is holding back and poor Adam doesn’t know why. There were times that I wanted to shake Piper and scream, “JUST TELL HIM,” but I completely understood her apprehension.

She’s knows her big secret is going to break Adam’s heart and I think I would have handled it exactly the same way. Despite my frustration, I loved watching them try to navigate their feelings and jumped with glee when a burst pipe helped move things along. Piper’s bad luck works in mysterious ways.

So far, I’ve enjoyed all the books in this series. this one had the perfect amount of angst. It was very heartfelt and had so many tender moments between Adam and Piper’s son. I appreciated the mental health rep, and the way each character handled their struggles. But most of all, I loved the healing. I was left feeling so satisfied in the end.

This book is adorable through and through.

Adam and Piper have been friends since they were children, along with Rex. However, Rex dies and Piper is pregnant with his baby. Adam is hurt and lost and suffering and he really isn’t in a good place when he leaves and joins the Navy. He is back and has been for a while, but now is the chance to take his chance with Piper. Piper is a single mom, she loves her son, but deep down she has always cared for Adam. However, she is hiding something that she is afraid will change how he looks at her and how he feels about her.

My heart broke so much for Piper, yet she is a strong woman and I love seeing her slowly grow and truly find confidence in herself again after years. Adam was lost and he really grew up during his time in the Navy and now he is truly ready for the next stop with Piper and her son, Ryan. I loved the friendship that these two had and I love how much of a father Adam is to Ryan and how time and time again he is always there for Piper.

These two have a connection and there is a lot they need to work through, but it was beautiful to see them finally find their happily ever after with each other.

If you’re looking for a small town, friends to lovers, single mom, light romantic suspense check this one out.

as if I didn’t love Adam and Piper enough, I couldnt love this book anymore if I tried. this was absolutely such a beautiful story of strength and soulmates and love, and my heart is so full. Adam and Piper were endgame from the moment we met them, and we all knew it especially Adam and this book was basically Piper coming to terms with letting him love her, and letting herself be loved through her demons and despite her past trauma, and she is such a strong FMC.

i’m so obsessed with these characters and their stories im so excited for the next one please 😭 i think i’d give my liver and my soul to have book 4 in my hands rn

3/5🌶️

I am loving this series & the Stone brothers so much! I had a feeling that Adam’s story was going to be my favorite & so far it definitely is!

This is book 3 in the Be Still series following Adam & Piper who have been friends since they were kids but Adam’s best friend beat him to the punch of asking her out. Fast forward to the present & the have a second chance at being together again but due to Piper’s past relationship she is super closed off & reserved. Fortunately Adam isn’t afraid to put in the work & he isn’t going to let her go again so easy…

this book was cute! The romance between the MC’s were my fav part!

However, the plot and pacing truly stopped me from enjoying it. It felt like we basically were dropped in the middle of their love story and were told a bunch of things and had to figure it out on our own. I needed some flashbacks and recount of events!

It’s me just being picky but the word “postcoital cuddles” should never be a thing LMAOO

5 stars isn't enough. I fell in love with every single one of these characters. Adam was such a teddy bear. His story and Pipers were rough in the beginning but they pulled through perfectly. And I love when the characters know they wanna be together and don't pretend its nothing. They were perfection and I can't wait to read about Raif next!

🧁 dual POV

🧁 small town
✈️ it’s always been you
🧁 second chance
✈️ forced proximity

I had the privilege of reading this amazing book, A Little Luck, by Tia Louise. This book was amazing, from the beginning to the end. I couldn’t put it down, I needed to know more about Adam and Piper. This book takes you on an emotional roller coaster, you feel all the feels along with the characters throughout the book. You cry with them, laugh with them, get mad with/at them, as well as root for them. Tia also writes about some mental health issues in a very sensitive light and how people sometimes deal with certain trauma even if it’s not in the best and healthiest way. Tia really wrote this beautifully showing the ups and downs of life and how we get through it all.

Piper had been through so much in her life, in a toxic and physically abusive relationship and then living with what he did and hiding herself. She built walls so high only one person could help break them down but unfortunately he wasn’t ready for that. Adam was dealing with his own issues from the loss they both went through and he turned to drugs and alcohol as well as pushing people away. Adam was given a second chance, after joining the military, once he returned, he only wanted two things, to help people and to be there for Piper and her son Ryan. But will Piper be able to fully let him in, will she be able to let her walls come crashing down and get her happily ever after that she deserves.

Piper and Adam have always loved each other, but Rex (Piper’s abusive ex and Adam’s best friend) had made the move first, so Piper and Adam remained best friends and loved each other from afar. Now it’s Adam’s turn to prove to Piper that he will be there for her and Ryan. It takes a little bit for Piper to realize Adam means everything he says, that he wants that happily ever after, he wants to be Ryan’s dad, he wants to give Piper and Ryan everything in the world that they deserve. Piper finally learns to let people in, share her secrets that she’s been keeping forever to her best friends and Adam. And once she realizes that she doesn’t have to be alone her walls come down and she can finally, truly be free.

I absolutely loved seeing Adam and Ryan interact with each other. Their encounters are the sweetest you will read about in the book. The love Adam and Ryan have for each other is beautiful. Besides it being a love story there’s also a suspense to it, a plot twist. We learn a lot about Piper’s mom and why she was the way she was in the story and the lengths she went through to keep her and Piper safe.

This book was amazing, absolutely and utterly amazing. I can’t say enough about this book. Tia out did herself with writing this book. I wish I could give this book more than 5 stars because I don’t think 5 does it justice. The chemistry between the characters was off the charts. I hope there’s another book in this series because I need more

I didn’t like this one😞

I absolutely loved the first two books in this series so much that I bought them after reading them for free on KU. Unfortunately—I didn’t like this one at all. SPOILERS AHEAD…..so don’t read on if you don’t want know😉

In the past, Piper was best friends with Adam(the hero) and Rex. She’s kind of in love with Adam and he’s in love with her, but she settles for Rex because he was the one who made his move. That totally bothered me. If you really loved Adam, her settling for Rex wasn’t fair to any of them. Rex turns out to be a psycho abuser drug addict who she stays with until he dies in an accident and she’s pregnant with his son. Adam also turned to drugs because the love of his life (Piper) was with his best friend. The night her son is born (Rex was already dead) Adam shows up high and she tells him to leave until he gets clean. They clearly still deeply love each other. (This all is revealed in the first couple chapters)

So…. Adam joins the military and spends EIGHT years trying to be a better man for Piper. He becomes a surrogate father to her son Ryan. But even after all that, she is STILL pushing him away. That just annoyed the absolute hell out of me and this book was probably ruined from this point. He leaves town for 6 weeks because he’s heartbroken and needs to get over her. She’s upset he left 🙄, and her therapist talks her into giving him a chance. He comes back and they sleep together right away—which I actually liked. The sex scenes were intense and emotional. But she’s still holding back and keeping a secret which she puts off telling him FOREVER— and it just pissed me off. He finds out this secret at 70% and she didn’t even tell him-he found out by accident. The secret was that Rex was cutting her and burning her to punish her when he was jealous. She had many scars that she hid from Adam when they had sex. Idk.. all the annoying avoidance of telling him took away from the reveal and it wasn’t as intense of a scene as it could have been. Maybe because I was annoyed with Piper through this whole book.

The middle of this book was repetitive and just went around and around. They were friends during the day and lovers at night, but most of the scenes were with the other characters. Nothing much happened except the planning of Alex’s and Cass’s wedding. (The MC’s from book 2)

I also HATED the Taylor Swift character (and I love Taylor Swift), but this just seemed like such a cheap ploy to capitalize on her popularity. The mystery part was ok I guess, but not even worth mentioning.

So… anyway, loved the first two….

If you haven’t read this author, you are missing out.

Every time, it’s a swoony emotional journey. Every time. There’s a lot of emotions- some good, some hard. But it’s worth the ride every single time.

This is book three in a connected series, though you can appreciate it as a stand-alone. I recommend reading them all so you know all the side characters, but you won’t be confused if you haven’t.

Piper and Adam’s journey was a long time coming. Meeting as children, Adam had feelings for Piper even way back when… but his best friend Rex made a move before him. As teens and young adults, Adam and Rex made a lot of poor choices. Rex’s cost him his life. Adam’s brother stepped in and forced an ultimatum that would change Adam’s life for the better. Piper was left with a baby to raise in her own, scars of the physical and emotional type, and the belief that she was cursed. Three years after returning from the Navy, Adam has been committed to showing Piper he’s a better man now and trying to finally earn her love.

Adam brings the swoon. Yes he was messed up in their younger years. He had his own demons and emotional baggage to deal with. He’s made a complete turn around, and has committed to helping others. He’s been there for Piper and her son Ryan. I love that he was not a manwh0re during that time either. Piper is his, and she was always supposed to be. And I adore the relationship he has with her son.

I have to admit- super super frustrating when someone drags out sharing information. In this case, Piper has kept the trauma from her past a complete secret from everyone - both family and friends. She has physical scars that she somehow manages to keep hidden even while sleeping with Adam. I spent chapter after chapter literally saying “come on!! Just TELL him already!” When she actually starts to say something… BAM! An interruption stops her. Then she goes back to dragging it out needlessly. At some point, dragging it becomes annoying. It made me want to start skimming to just get past it already. Which is horrible, as I really love this series and world, and want to spend time in their story. It takes until about 70% in before her truth comes out. It doesn’t change the love I have for this story, but it did make me annoyed.

There’s a lot of steam, plenty of swoon, a bunch of laughs, some mystery and lots of great relationships- both friends and family. And no third act break up or OW/OM drama. This author always gives us the perfect combination that keeps me invested and pulled in from beginning to end.

"I believe you can find a little luck, and if you can’t, you can make a little of your own."

Immediate thoughts:
Wow, Adam and Piper were everything I wanted and so much more!
This story was more emotional than the previous in the series, but so beautiful and heartwarming still.

Tropes:
Small town, single mother, friends to lovers, one bed, ‘it’s always been you’, he falls first.

ARC review:
I have been looking forward to this book since I read the first one, and it did not disappoint. Adam Stone is the MAN! He is sweet, caring, protective and will do anything for Piper and her son. Piper is so much more than I expected, and with what she has been through I am just so happy she got that epic love she so deserved!

Adam and Piper have always been very close friends and secretly wanted more. Adam’s best friend was quicker than him, so he settled for being friends until now. The chemistry was amazing, but more than that, their connection was pure, deep and so good and the progression to more than friendship happened gradually. The love and respect were so good to see, and I could really feel they close connection/friendship as well as the epic attraction they had towards each other.

It was a bit more angsty than the previous books in the series, due to their pasts, especially Piper’s. She has really been through some things, and my heart broke for her. Now she is hiding her true self behind a mask, and no one really know what a struggle life is for her. I loved how Adam saw the real Piper and helped break her free from her shell and by trusting, loving and caring for her Adam helped Piper heal. It was beautiful and amazing seeing them together. Also, the dad-son relationship Adam had with Piper’s son was definitely a nice addition.

Oh boy, Alex Stone is so swoon worthy. “A Little Luck” is a swoony, emotional and oh so sweet single Mom romance that just captured my heart.

Adam and Piper have been friends since they were kids and have always had a special spot for each other. But when Adam’s friend makes the first move, Adam is the friend in the background. Years later, Piper is a single mom to her sweet son, Ryan and Adam is ready to make Piper his. But Piper has a big secret she’s been hiding from everyone and when a plumbing disaster leaves her temporarily homeless, Adam becomes her safe place once again.

Adam and Piper have such a long history and it was a solid building group to them having more. Their past is forever intertwined together and I loved how connected they were. Adam had a bit of a troublesome past but was able to get his life together for Piper and Ryan by enrolling in the Navy. And the way he showed how serious he was about Piper was acts of service which is my personal favorite way to show that you care. He was always there for her and made sure to let her know she was never alone. Piper has so much strength and I just admired her so much. She went through some tough things and was able to come out and raise such a great kid. I loved how these two were truly friends and made sure both were ready for something more. Adam never let Piper doubt him and how much she and Ryan meant to him. These two were something special and I loved their story so much.

A Little Luck, the third book in the Be Still series is different, but a good different from the other two books. This one is more emotional, more realistic, gives closure to our Stone brothers but opens doors for more secondary characters. It answers questions (signs), gives Ex's there due, and HEAs all around for these brothers and their better halves. A little bit of suspense is thrown into this small-town, friends to lovers tale and if you have triggers about drug abuse and domestic abuse then beware, but it is off page if that helps. The relationship between the MMC and the FMC son was phenomenally done, as only this author can do! Now, this is a gift worth giving!

Adam Stone and Piper have been friends since childhood. Adam has always loved her but stepped aside for his best friend. Adam is a surfer turned pilot and had no choice to join the Navy to turn his life around.

Piper is a news woman and her son, Ryan, is her whole world. She would love to add Adam to their family since he is a great father figure, but Piper has a secret and if he knew, then he may not want her.

Adam shot his last shot with Piper and she rejected him, again. He leaves his family and small town to give them both space and time. When he returns he finds her in his bed and neither can resist each other in the dark of night. Come morning, Adam, knows that with a little luck on his side he can prove to Piper that they are meant to be a family and maybe add to it...
