Joshua Lawton is a creative ten-year-old boy with an active imagination and a dreaming habit…making him a constant target for bullies and doesn’t get along with his ridiculing older sister, Emma. His only comfort is his golden labrador, Lucky. He and his family have just moved to the small town of Benson Falls, Washington from New York City. Spending a majority of his time writing stories in his Daydreaming Diary and wishing that he could go to nonexistent places, something unexpected happens after he meets and befriends Madison Radner, his gothic next-door neighbor who’s as mysterious as she is awesome. With Benny, her chocolate labrador, she spends a majority of her own time drawing pictures in her Stargazing Sketchpad. Pretty soon, Joshua learns that nonexistent places are more existent than ever he suspects and takes off on wild and dangerous afterschool journeys when Madison shows him fantastic and dangerous new lands through the doors of a decrepit-looking cathedral in the town square. And it’s not too long before both artistic playmates for life must save both magical worlds and the real world from dire threats!
