They thought the darkness was behind them. They were wrong.
A decade ago, a devastating bioweapon changed the face of humanity. Innocent people were turned into ravenous creatures driven by a relentless urge for destruction. Now the survivors struggle to rebuild their lives in the remains of a shattered America.
Captain Dominic Holland leads a crew of skilled covert operatives and scientific personnel on a clandestine ship to protect the US from chemical and biological weapons. Their mission takes a harrowing turn when a vital agricultural lab in a troubled New England town falls prey to a vicious attack. Dom’s team is tasked with saving any survivors. But what they uncover is more devastating than the ruins of a lab.
Deep in the Appalachian Mountains, Dom’s daughter Kara ventures into the wild alone to search for a missing woman. But her mission quickly takes a startling turn. She must learn to trust an unexpected ally to survive a far more sinister threat than she ever anticipated.
As danger escalates at every turn, Dom and Kara find themselves entangled in a web of unimaginable horrors. They must navigate the treacherous post-apocalyptic landscape to safeguard the fragile future of America. In this relentless thriller, where every step could be their last, Dom and Kara fight not only for survival but for the very soul of a nation teetering on the brink of extinction.

I'm so happy to see The Tide continue after a brief hiatus.
I fell right back into a familiar pattern, following the exploits of the Hunters as they fight the Skulls and rescue survivors of the Tide. Now a new group has emerged and is restarting the terror with a new weapon: A blight that turns all their farms with fields full of produce to feed all the people saved into inedible muck. Nothing works to stop the blight as Dom and Meridith, Sadie and Kara and all the rest of the Hunters try to curb the upheaval of new attacks by Skulls and Hybrids. A new cult has sprung up, the Children of Kusanagi poison the minds of their followers, convincing them that the Oni agent was necessary to winnow the human population and allow nature to restore balance to the world. The Children have taken to wearing Skull armor, disguising themselves as the monsters they revere. They've attracted many Hybrids to join their ranks and gather and control an army of Skulls to spread the blight to the many farms hoping to feed the remaining population.
It didn't take long before I was drawn back aboard the Bethany with Dom and company, fighting the Oni Agent, the Skulls, the Hybrids and the Children of Kusanagi. The Children are so widespread that the Hunters may even be infiltrated with the brainwashed cultists! The action is nonstop, one long fight and several more in their own backyard. I love reading about my old friends and some new acquaintances who may or may not be friendlies. I barely even got started before I found myself dreading the upcoming cliffhanger and yearning for the next exciting volume of Hunters and Skulls in action! This is a great read! And it's going to be an awesome series!
Page turning continuation for what happens after "The Tide" series
As usual, Dr. Melchiorri has written a page turning opening book after the biological weapon based on the events of "The Tide" series. The cast of characters have become more hardened left with a devastated world. Survival is still paramount with many new twists.
A very eloquently written, well thought out story worth reading. Even if you haven't read "The Tide" series that I highly recommend to the reader. This is spooky and prescient based on hard biological science.
Book 1 for After the Tide was a fun read and had a few errors. This takes place 10 years after the series. The plot and characters have developed well enough for a new series. New challenges arise and the telling is from different perspectives of characters, some original and some new. The book was a bit slow in the telling but picked up speed quickly. I look forward to the next book.
I received the audiobook as a giveaway from the author. I hadn’t realized at the time there was the entire Tide series before this book. I enjoyed the characters and the setting and plan to track down the earlier books to get to know these characters, and their backstories, even better.
This book does a great job of introducing these characters and the setting, so no need to read The Tide series first.
If you loved The Tide series you are going to be hooked straight away with After The Tide. I can see this storyline going far with the new threats that Dom and his team have to stop. Excitement and thrills in every chapter, I didn't want to put the book down and can't wait for more. Fantastic Mr Melchiorri, a huge fan.
No breather for these heroes during the end of times. Great character development and action sequences. Love the science element that seems believable and relevant.
Anthony never disappoints in the Tide series and its continuation is a welcomed addition to the story. Many times we may wonder “what happened after X”, now no need to wonder in this series.
It was not as good as the reviews led me to believe. I am not sure that I will continue in this series. Maybe it will get better now that the plot and some characters have been established. Reminds me a lot of hell divers.
after reading the tide series this book was hard for me to get into at first because it started out slow but I am glad I stick it out another series in the making.
This book picks up ten years after the original Tide series ends. I really enjoyed seeing what all the new characters are up to now and how they handled a whole new, different kind of threat.
