One of the best antifascist novels ever written. A masterpiece from beginning to end.

I remember finding this on the english language shelf of a communist Russian library. I thought it was extraordinarily good and made a point of remembering the author's name for when I got back to america (where english books were a lot more common) and getting the rest of his books

After time, I figured out that this author had been blacklisted by the HUAC. He is a great author and this book is quite interesting.

But that also explains why the book found it's way into the shelf in Russia

A full blooded, many faceted novel of nazi Germany in the early days of the war in which a blatant act of sabotage by a loyal German leads to a tense and fascinating gestapo investigation - an investigation that reaches down into every level of a completely cynical, depraved, demented society. The burning arrow of hay led British to the camoflaged tank factory and it was bombed.

Matlz wrote "Two Mules For Sister Sarah" he was investigated by the House on American Activities.

This was very, very good. Even with some too-long dialogues and thoughts-of-the-characters, it's still a very interesting story, well paced and it's really hard to understand how was it possible to write this before the end of the war.

Al principio no comprendía lo que estaba sucediendo, pero una vez que entrás en ritmo, te atrapa hasta que terminás agarrándote la cabeza con las dos manos.
Tiene lugar durante la segunda guerra mundial. Maltz va contando todo lo que sucede a cada hora pues en la guerra cada segundo cuenta. Los personajes tienen su trasfondo que lo llevan a tomar pequeñas decisiones que serán determinantes.

This book is claer enough to read for Asians. Grammers are not difficult. If you want to know what is cross and what is arrow, try to read. It gives a lot of emotional pictures in your mind.
