The third time is the charm for me

This was my third time reading this story. It was still an amazing read with an above average backstory with a lesson for any married man with a needy complex. There was no need to hope that Mone't would leave Austin after his needy and self-absorbed personality led him to a stupid act. The secrets were rampant, and the love for this pair gleamed with enough evidence from the very start of the story. One final shot was a slam dunk.

One Final Shot was a really good story, but, I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t say how this book had me stressing something bad! The two characters, Austin and Mone’t Graham, took me through it. It was really heartbreaking at times. It’s always been couple goals for these two but a moment of weakness nearly ruined everything. My heart ached for Mone’t, she is everything to Austin, their family and friends, and helping Austin be Americas sweetheart. But, she struggles with postpartum depression and finding time for self. Her story was very realistic and had me fighting all the tears. Austin is THE basketball player; he literally is the city and he holds himself to a higher standard but who needs enemies when he had an agent that took advantage of him. What I loved about this story was how strong the support system was for these two. How candid and honest their friends were because they were spiraling out of control. I wanted to shake both characters at different times for being so stubborn but at the same time, I empathized with them. I enjoyed the rollercoaster of emotions I battled, the basketball references, and strong theme of grace and forgiveness. It was a great journey. ❤️

I wish I could rate this more than 5 stars!
From the character development, storyline, dialogue, pacing, etc...everything about this story was very obviously written meticulously and with an enormous anount of raw feelings.
I did not think Austin would find himself back in my good graces, but the way Aubree Pynn broke these characters down to their bare bones only to build them back up was #chefskiss brilliant.
The running theme of this book was family and community. Each character played a role in holding up and down the MC's and I loved that for them. The mother!!!! Aneica! She was everything. The bond that she shares with Mone't is unmatched. I don't want to give anything away, but do yourself a favor a READ THIS BOOK. It will bless you.
So many feels. I absolutely loved it!
Definitely recommending it to everyone in the near future!

Austin and Mone’t story was one for the ages. Their history was destined. But like history, shit changes, people change. The author developed the story like it needed to be done. Austin at points in the story made me want to go upside his head. I was glad he was able to redeem himself. Mone’t on the other hand navigated the situation like she was supposed too. Austin needed a reality check, and she and others gave it to him. If the author continues the story I would like to see Eman (my bae) get a story. Even though he not gone end up with me. I felt the story moved at an adequate pace. The story was well developed, there was little fluff and all of the chapters moved the story along. The characters were also well developed. Looking forward to the next book in this series.

Aubree Pynn! I want you to remember her name! When you read about writers who have left their mark in the world you are gonna hear her name! Don’t believe me, read One Final Shot!! This is definitely on the list of best reads of 2022. The love story of Austin and Mone’t will have you all in your feelings from tears to ready to bust windows out of cars as the reader. I don’t know what kind of gift you must possess to pull such deep reactionary emotions from a reader, but Aubree has it! If you have never read a book by Ms. Pynn, i recommend you start here. One Final Shot is what happens when a writer writes with purpose and heart

One Final Shot (Ganton Hills Monarch Stadium Exclusive) by Aubreé Pynn is about young married couple Mone’t and Austin Graham. Mone’t and Austin have been together since they were teenagers growing up in the streets of Ganton Hills. They’re now living the life of the rich and famous due to Austin’s NBA career, however that’s not without its own set of problems. Mone’t has made many sacrifices for Austin starting with the night before he’s drafted into the NBA. After having their second child Mone’t is struggling mentally and Austin is distracted with basketball, business, endorsements etc. The Graham’s marriage is very much in distress! Aubreé PUT ME THROUGH IT! My chest hurt 🥺 I found myself rooting for this couple but also wanting to fight Austin 😒. I love the secondary characters, they add so much to the story. The support they offer Austin and Mone’t is important. I also appreciate that the relationship between the men is so positive! They allow Austin to be vulnerable but also hold him accountable. Speaking of accountability, Austin’s mom Aneica does not coddle her son! You don’t often see that. Also she’s a great mother figure to Mone’t whose own mother is a piece of work. The family dynamics are amazing, they all did their part to reconcile Mone’t and Austin, a perfect example of it takes a village. I can’t wait until they all get their own stories. I’m not a fan of heartache but this was well worth it! I love the therapy representation both independent and couples, vital conversations were had and actual changes were made. I can’t forget the adorable Graham babies, Isabella is a sassy little one 😂

P.s. This is for people that like heartache, drama, secrets, grovelling and gotta get her back antics!

Goodness

I will say, this story was stressful and really sad at times. In the beginning, I really felt for Austin and Mone’t. They were so young, dealing with things most people twice their age would give up on. The time jump and seeing how they slowly drifted apart was disheartening. Mone’t was hanging on by a thread while Austin worked himself to the bone, giving their family little to no attention in hopes of never going back to the hood. It was heartbreaking watching that shift happen. When the truth came out and everything unraveled, I swear I felt that pain too. This story just really made me sad. No matter how it ended. I wish she could’ve gotten something just for herself🥹.

This is the story of Austin and Mo'net, a couple from Ganton Hills that started as high school sweethearts and ended up King and Queen of the court…basketball that is. While Mo'net was busy rearing two kids at home and dealing with severe post-partum depression, Austin was foolishly chasing behind more money, which led him into a few compromising positions. We witness the numerous threats to their marriage, yet Austin remains clueless. Thank God for their amazing support system.

This book and this relationship proves that love does conquer all.

Be prepared to have your emotions all over the place. You will feel for Mo'net, be angry with Austin, root for their healing and hope for the return of the one that can make it all better.

Go get this book!

One Final Shot is a beautiful narrative of pain and the work it takes to walk through it to emerge better on the other side. It is a culmination of radiant storytelling and honing of the author's craft. The layers of healing, the on-page combating of stereotypes that have long plagued our community, and the growth of the characters from beginning to end are done with the grace of a seasoned pen. Aubree Pynn's ability to bring her characters off the page and into a reader's heart is unmatched.

Mone't and Austin are a portrait of what it takes to choose the best path for self, for growth, and for the overall good of the family. Their story showcases not only what it means to be remorseful, or accountable, but the internal battles it takes to allow someone the space to right their wrongs.

With prose that sinks into you from the very first page, it is not at all difficult to find yourself consumed by the story. Full of twists and plot turns not easily foreshadowed, Ms. Pynn has once again done what she does best. Delivers a novel that packs a punch. From self, to familial, with romance and friendship woven throughout, Black love is front and center on every page.

This is a story that will tap into every good, bad and ugly part of the spectrum that life and love offers in a way that keeps you turning pages to find out what happens next. Austin and Mone’t learn that love ain’t easy, but when the life they envisioned is threatened, they realize that while the road to redemption is paved with cracks and uneven spots, it’s up to them how they maneuver the obstacles. The cast and crew of this book all add their unique personalities to the storyline and make for a well rounded and top tier written book that will take you high, low and in-between from cover to cover

Whew!! This was an emotional rollercoaster, when the other reviewers said they were ready to fight and in the next breath cheered for Austin- I UNDERSTAND!! He was an exhausting character.

This was a very rich story, it pulled out all sorts of emotions. I cheered for Mo; she was a character I pushed for. The friend/ family dynamics was so sweet. I loved all of these characters.

Now I need the other stories. There was so much in the final two chapters, who do we start with… Keyston and Robyn? Musa and Ken? Eman and Angie? And heck I want Francesco and Aneica! I want all of the stories😂🤣😂

I just finished and I want y’all to know she wrote the hell out of this book. Austin had my emotions up and down because of his actions. I loved the brotherhood between the guys. Monét and Angie was truly sisters. I also like the mother and daughter relationship Aneica and Monét had. Eman was the true definition of my brother’s keeper. It flowed very well. Overall I loved it and all the characters.

This book was so good. I love that we got to se them before the fame. We instantly understand the bond between them all, Austen, Monet, Musa, Eman, Keyston, and Angie. When life settled in and the hard times came it was hard to pick a side and stay on it! The ending was tastefully done and I can’t help but smile! Great read💜

Pride goeth before the fall.

One Final Shot is a compelling tale of love, loss, and redemption set against the backdrop of Ganton Hills. The story follows the journey of Mone't and Austin, a young couple deeply in love, who find themselves thrust into success but unprepared for the challenges that come with it. My initial thought on this book were these too are way too perfect. Everybody is gushing over them and actually wants to be them. From the outside looking in they were most certainly perfect but the more I got into the story was the more I saw that they were far from it. My initial thoughts on Austin and Monet as individuals. Firstly Monet is passionate, supportive and gentle. She’s is altruistic in every sense of the word. Monet is a character who exudes passion, love, and care in all aspects of her life. Her warmth and affectionate nature radiate through her interactions with others, making her a source of support and comfort for those around her. Her genuine kindness and altruistic spirit drive her actions, as she selflessly puts the needs of others before her own. As a partner, Monet's love for Austin shines brightly, evident in her unwavering support and devotion to their relationship. She embodies the essence of a nurturing partner, offering encouragement and understanding during both the highs and lows they face together. Monet's caring nature extends beyond romantic relationships; she is equally compassionate towards her community, embodying a sense of responsibility to uplift and support those in need. Despite her compassionate nature, Monet is not without her own vulnerabilities. The challenges she encounters test her resilience and strength, forcing her to confront obstacles that threaten to shake the foundation of her relationship with Austin. However, it is her innate sense of love and determination that propels her forward, empowering her to navigate through adversity with grace and courage. Austin on the other hand is initially portrayed as a loving and caring individual, deeply devoted to ensuring the well-being and happiness of his family. His intentions are noble, driven by a desire to provide a stable and secure future for those he loves. His love for Monet and their family is genuine, and his actions are motivated by a genuine desire to protect and support them. However, as Austin experiences sudden success and fame, his priorities begin to shift, and he loses sight of what truly matters. The allure of fame and fortune blinds him, leading him down a path of self-centeredness and arrogance. The newfound attention and acclaim inflate his ego, causing him to become big-headed and disconnected from the values that once guided him. Austin's journey highlights the pitfalls of succumbing to the trappings of success without maintaining a grounded perspective. His transformation serves as a cautionary tale about the dangers of losing oneself in pursuit of external validation and material wealth. Despite his shortcomings, Austin's underlying love for his family remains evident, albeit overshadowed by his ego-driven behavior.Ultimately, Austin's character arc is one of redemption and self-discovery. As he confronts the consequences of his actions and the strain they place on his relationship with Monet, he is forced to reevaluate his priorities and rediscover what truly matters in life. Through introspection and personal growth, Austin has the opportunity to reconcile with his past mistakes and reclaim the love and connection he once shared with his family. This book has so many layers. The supporting characters were beautiful there’s nothing like friends who will hold you accountable for your actions. I feel like this was a very important aspect of this book. Aubree masterfully portrays the complexities of relationships and the impact of external pressures on love. As Mone't and Austin navigate their newfound success, they are faced with trials and tribulations that put their love to the ultimate test. The theme of redemption shines through as they struggle to repair the cracks in their foundation and find their way back to each other. One of the most powerful aspects of the book is the exploration of self-discovery. Through Austin's infidelity and its devastating effects on Mone't, the reader is taken on a journey of growth and transformation. Mone't's decision to leave with their children after discovering Austin's betrayal adds depth to the story, highlighting the painful consequences of his actions.
Additionally, the theme of family secrets and their lasting impact is skillfully woven into the narrative. Austin's mother, Aneica, keeping the truth about Francesco being his father has far-reaching consequences, revealing the damaging effects of withheld information on familial relationships.
Despite the challenges they face, Mone't and Austin's story is ultimately one of hope and resilience. Through therapy and self-reflection, they are able to confront their demons and rebuild their relationship, culminating in a poignant remarriage that symbolizes their journey towards healing and forgiveness. Overall, One Final Shot is a captivating read that delves deep into the complexities of love, redemption, and self-discovery. Pynn’s poignant storytelling and richly drawn characters make this a book that will stay with readers long after the final page.

Whew Wee Chile!!!!

This book here had me in a complete and udder chokehold!! I read it when it came out years ago and it was just as good to reread it for the National rerelease!! The emotional rollercoaster you will go on is one for the books however it embodies a real relationship. It’s so relatable and realistic you start to think about your past relationships or relationships you’ve been privy to around you. You start to second guess decisions you made when you were in certain situations because of course hindsight is 20/20 but when you’re in it you don’t always think clearly. These characters are so complex and so real. From the main characters to everyone around them who wants and needs them to win.

The family dynamic is amazing. The way they ride for each other no matter what. The way they fight with each other but protect each other at all cost is heartwarming. There are so many aspects this family goes through together as a unit and separately that make you frustrated as well as excited lol

There were so many times throughout this book I wanted to throw my iPad against the wall lol but Aubree Pynn continues to bring a pen that sucks you in. If you’ve never read a book by her this is a great one to start with. It has a little bit of EVERYTHING. Drama, laughter, sadness, suspense, crime, and everything in between. You definitely won’t be disappointed with this read or the author.

First, let me just say that above all else, I commend Austin for forgiving Francesco and accepting Ken cause babyyy, it would have been a no for me! Secondly, love love love Mone’t, the true epitome of resilience. I applaud her for how she trusted her intuition and stood by her decisions through adversity. She was placed in some very unfortunate circumstances and still managed to be Austin’s and their family’s backbone. I loved Eman too, even Angie although I did not agree with certain choices of hers. Masu and Keyston were great additions and provided comedic relief. You’re smitten with Austin, then you hate him, then you love him. He was extremely arrogant and could not see beyond his ego and nearly lost everything. Loved his mom, but she was dead wrong. I also really liked their emphasize of giving back to their community- “Reach back and pull people up”. This book has heartache, love, spice, scandal and good laughs. Please please please read this book!

One final shot

This was such an amazing book that focused on healing, forgiveness, and loving you mate unconditionally. This book was very well written and kept me engaged from beginning to end. Mone’t and Austin shared a loved that would stand the test of time. These two were childhood sweethearts who had to grow up fairly quickly. I enjoyed seeing their growth and them getting through the hard times. Mone’t was very relatable and I loved how she stood her ground when with Austin to get him to make the right changes for himself and their family and put his ego aside. I would love to get a book on Eman and Angie and to find out who Musa was creeping with. This crew had each others backs and held each other accountable even when it was hard, but they understood that if the king and queen’s relationship crashed and burned, it would affect them all and cause them all issues. I would highly recommend this book. 5/5 stars!

Listen this was litt I loved it all every character, action and writing. Had me laughing hysterically, angrily torn and crying. I enjoyed it all especially the growth and changing and growing as you come to know yourself more and more especially for mo and Austin. I am looking forward to hear more about their happiness and growth after that obstacle in the next book hopefully on the side supporting characters. A lot was revealed and a lot was solved and healed. Ms. Aubree Pynn put her hands in this writing and book which I appreciate because it had all the feels and then some. I Lowkey wanted a continuation maybe that’s me being greedy but the main things that needed to be said were said and the small thing we can imagine for sure. Thank you for giving us this wonderful work of emotions and showing us black winning love at its finest even through trials and tribulations.

One thing I know when I open an Aubree Pynn book is that I’m going to go through it with my emotions. This read here was different in a good way.

Austin and Mone’t shouldn’t of made it, not out the hood, not with their lives, and especially not by each other’s side. Once they made it past those challenges they had new ones that awaited them.

Everything within in this book embodies what is considered a 5 star read. The plot, character development, dialogue, and even the cover. This is a book I didn’t know I needed and is in my top reads for 2022. Aubree Pynn please take bow because you did that!

This was truly a winner. Not all authors can write in 3rd person well but let me say that Aubree Pynn does it magnificently. You will not be disappointed on how this story unfolds. Love is hard and takes work. Aubree captures that. Austin and Mone’t have to learn to grow for themselves as they grow for each other. This story will have you in your feelings like only Aubree can put you there. There is nothing like a Ganton Hills story especially getting a glimpse at some of our favorites. Can’t wait for the next one.

I waited so long to read this book and I absolutely loved it. It dealt with so many issues , infidelity in marriage, PPD, depression, mental health, therapy and so much more. I was so upset but Austin in the beginning he was so detached from reality. He thought throwing money at stuff was the solution to everything. He chose to listen to outsiders instead of his day ones who had always had his back and never told him anything wrong. I like that they were able to hold him accountable for his wrong doings.

I loved Mo because although she had her weak moments she stood tall for herself. Cant forget smart mouth Izzy she was a trip. Def enjoyed this read

Great Read!

This book had some aspects of my life in it and some words of wisdom to which I highlighted to refer back on. The ups and downs of Austin and Mo'Net were so surreal. The therapy aspect is a must when going through trials, especially as the "strong one" because, as Angie said, you gotta be able to pour into yourself.
