For the first time in years, 35-year-old Emily Reid is trading the bustling streets of New York City for the festive charm of her hometown. A rising star in the corporate world, Emily has spent past Christmases buried in work, but this year, she's seeking a much-needed break from her fast-paced life.
What she doesn't expect is to run into Quinn Grant, her former college professor, now 49, whose intellect and poise once captivated her young heart. More than a decade has passed, but the spark of an innocent crush reignites into something she can no longer ignore.
In the midst of holiday preparations and old traditions, Emily finds herself reconnecting with Quinn. As they navigate the festivities together, the lines between past and present blur, challenging Emily to confront the emotions she's kept at bay in her pursuit of success.
Quinn, who has since become an integral part of the town's fabric, is surprised to find herself drawn to the confident and intriguing woman Emily has become, far removed from the 23-year-old student she remembers. As they reconnect amidst the holiday activities, the charm of the season weaves around them, igniting feelings that blur the lines of their past student-teacher relationship.
As Christmas draws near, they are faced with a surrender to the uncertainties and challenges posed by their age difference, or embrace the unexpected gift of a second chance at love.
I love Carol Wyatt books. It’s a while since I read one, but this is so beautiful. Such gentle, flowing writing. There is a deep warmth to the writing, the portrayal of the characters, and a thoughtfulness to each word. Both Emily and Quinn are lovely. This is very much a cozy winter story of the best kind. Shorter than I expected, but long enough to not disappoint.
Who hasn’t had a crush on a beautiful professor in the past? It just doesn’t become reality for most. That’s what makes this book phenomenal in my opinion.
That and the fact that it’s sweet and low in angst, plus hot; no point in forgetting that it’s hot.
I love short stories, and this was a nice hot and steamy sweet story. HEA. I really like the way Carol writes, Her words glide so smoothly across the pages. You realize as you think 🤔 back in your life IF ONLY I COULD GO BACK, IF ONLY??
When Emily returned to her small hometown, she never expected to run into the professor she once had an enormous crush on years ago. Having all but given up on love, Quinn is equally surprised to find her former student all grown up and impossible to resist. Their connection is sudden and strong, but is it only a holiday fling or the first step toward a happily ever after?
Coming Home is a lovely, warm, sapphic holiday romance that is so inviting that reading it is like being wrapped in a warm blanket on a cold winter evening. Emily and Quinn are likable characters who only need that little push to see the undeniable magic between them. The small-town setting with its supportive community serves as a charming backdrop for the attraction and love that is kindled between the two women.
With its engaging characters and heartwarming romance, Coming Home is destined to become a comfort read to revisit every December.
This is a cute novella about a woman who finds true love in the least expected place - home. When Emily comes home for her grandfather’s funeral, she discovers the professor she’d had a crush on lives in her hometown. And as the month progresses, she discovers her feelings are reciprocated by Quinn too.
But New Year’s Eve looms, and the day after, when she needs to return to the big city for work and her career. Which will win out? True love or a career she’s spent a decade creating?
4 stars. I’ll never get tired of Carol Wyatt books. She’s definitely one of my favorite authors. Her works are just so romantic and cozy and this one was no exception. This is a holiday romance between a professor, Quinn, and her former student, Emily and it was lovely. There is a fourteen year age gap between them and I love the way Wyatt does age gaps. Both characters were likable and had great chemistry and it was just an overall sweet read.
Carol Watt constructs some serious characters and backstories. “Coming Home” definitely fits with her writing personality. The mains Quinn and Emily were strong, lovable and sincere. You can feel their growing energy towards each other and ultimately their love. The whole book had an even flow and an even tempered tone and atmosphere. Loved it!
Reacquainted with her old professor she had at Uni and shevstill had that crush, was this a sort time vacation romance or more? Its well plotted and sweet. Almost everyone has a memory of wbst could have been but the timing wasn't right. Reconnecting just brought it back, could they both take the risk for something they wanted. There is an HEA
Another sweet read by Wyatt. This time with a Christmas theme. Ex student and ex professor meet up unexpectedly and old feelings flare. A lovely short story that will get you in the mood for Christmas.
This book was hard for me to put down so I ended up finishing it way too fast. Left me wanting more. The characters and storyline were developed well enough for me to get invested.
A sweet Christmas short story of a crush that finally comes true. The professor know about the crush but never acted. So many years later the feeling is still there. A wonderful read
Sometimes you have to wait years for true love. Quinn and Emily meet again and Emily’s crush on her college professor reignites. This is a passionate holiday romance to enjoy in front of a warm fire.
I am a hopeless romantic and this story had all the right stuff. I would recommend this to anyone that enjoy a good love story coupled with some steamy romance!
I get that Emily had a huge crush on Quinn for a while but that all happened really fast. There was so much opportunity for these characters to be flushed out better but the book was way too short.
I love books that don’t run you around and gets to the point but just enough intrigue to also keep you guessing. Can’t wait to read more of your books.

Thirty-five year old Emily is home for the first time in many years when she runs into Quinn, her former professor, whom she had a crush on when she was in college. It seems Emily's still attracted to her, but after spending time together volunteering in their community, she finds Quinn's feelings are now reciprocal. Coming Home is a very sweet, but charged, story about finding love at the right time!
