What will Aaron Strickland do now that wrestling is over?

Aaron Strickland was never any good at school. He was an all-state wrestling champ senior year, but what's left now that he's graduated? The only person who thinks much of him is Gabriel Diaz, his brilliant classmate next door—but Aaron's dad hates Gabe and wants him to spend more time with Charlie Oates, a red-blooded wrestling prodigy who studies criminal justice.

One night, as Aaron wrestles Charlie in the basement, Charlie reveals a lusty, carnal, dominating side that sends Aaron into a tailspin of latent desire and lust for new types of gripping.

Can Aaron make peace with who he is? Or will self-hatred lead him to hurt the one person he truly loves? All-State Champ is a romantic, erotic, straight-to-gay new adult short story for adult readers. It will satisfy those who like jock-and-nerd stories, friends-to-lovers, spandex and singlets, and hot mm action. 18+ only.

C.D. Truncheon is from Portland, Oregon. There, he developed a knack for writing stories about young guys who are discovering their bodies and desires for the first time—sometimes with friends, sometimes with mature men, often in unsupervised locker rooms and outdoor camps where family and girlfriends won't find out. His favorite theme: new adults trained by strict parents to overachieve at the expense of their personal truths and carnal needs. In his spare time, Truncheon enjoys horseback riding and scrapbooking.

Pretty good. For such a short story, we get a good bit of characterization of Aaron the main character. He's been straight up until now, but things are starting to change when two of the young men in his life show particular interest in him. As this is a short story, the realization comes fairly quickly, but I didn't think it was rushed. The sex is good, not too over the top.

State Champ or Not-Straight Champ?

Wrestling is a challenging sport for guys especially. Many athletes avoid it because you have to put everything out in front while hugging and rubbing up another guy (usually).

While the crowd watches and whistles at the sheer physicality of wrestling moves, the sheer fabric of the singlet or wrestling briefs hugs the hips and accents the growing vulnerability on public display on the mat.

Yet in the darkness of a shared quiet place with your favorite opponent/training partner/friend the need to reinforce the training with practice and trying new moves to learn control and evaluate effectiveness on the mat.

It is impossible to avoid sharing the psychology and strategy moves whenever together. But when life forces separation, the moments of connection develop to last a lifetime or a night.

Not come across this author before although he does write under different pen names....

It's a bit of a rollercoaster of a read with one of the MCs realising that things aren't always black and white. There are some intense emotions underscoring this short story (heat rating 5+) and a lot is covered in 30 pages. Warrants a longer book or a part 2...

Will revisit this author again at some point.
