Spring Breaking
A perfectly planned spring break in Scotland for a list-loving introvert. Except for the tag-along ex-boyfriend, the tourist-hating caretaker who's as infuriating as he is intriguing, and the major career decision hanging over her head. Time to rewrite the itinerary.
On the surface, I'm the epitome of an accomplished academic, a woman who has her life mapped out in bullet points – tenure, marriage, family. But lately, there's a restlessness inside me, a mess of doubts about the path I'm on. The Scottish getaway I've always dreamed of was supposed to be a chance to leap out of my comfort zone, unearth my spontaneous side—I’m sure it’s buried under a pile of research papers somewhere—and determine if there's a future with my (currently ex-) boyfriend, otherwise known as Professor Wishy Washy by my five opinionated besties. Instead, I find myself in a remote Highland cottage that's more fixer-upper than fairy tale, with an ex who's more ghost than partner, and a seemingly inept handyman whose affected brogue and laid-back lifestyle challenge every certainty and carefully crafted plan I’ve always followed.
Will the unexpectedly endearing Laird MacBawbag—my private name for the grumpy Scot—be the one to help me rewrite my carefully scripted life? Or will my need for safety and structure close the book on an adventure that could redefine everything I thought I wanted?

Eh, not so much.
In fact, I’ve always been a reluctant lover of romantic-comedies. The overly sappy ones just make my eyes roll; seriously, it’s like a reflex.
So, when I wrote my first book, what else would spill onto the page but a romantic-comedy with a lovably sassy female protagonist who was reluctant to give up her happy single life in exchange for a relationship?
I still write strong (even if they might not know it yet), independent heroines who don’t need a romantic relationship to be complete, and the sexy, sweet book boyfriends they find impossible to resist.
When I’m not writing or reading (my first true love), I’m hanging out with my own irresistible—I definitely tried to resist, let me tell you—book boyfriend turned hubby, who’s a big fan of “sweetie couch time”.
I know, cue the eye roll, right?
