You can take a chick out the hood, but you can never take the hood out the chick. The young mother Tatiana did everything in her power, including marrying a man for his riches, just to make sure her daughter Nala didn’t have to grow up in the trenches like she did.Nala grew up in Hawaii living the life that everyone on the outside would have considered perfect. With all the material things any girl could ask for, Nala still was not happy. It’s her graduation year and summer has approached. To show their appreciation and congratulate their daughter, Tatiana and her husband Raymond are sending Nala wherever she would like to go after she walks across the stage. Of all the places Nala could choose from, the only place she wishes to go is back to Orlando, FL where her long-lost family is.Reuniting with her favorite cousin Sirae has been something she’s dreamed of for years. The time has finally come, and Nala is about to experience a lifestyle she’s never encountered before. Will this be the best summer of her life or will she regret not taking her mother’s advise and staying far away from her family.
At the beginning. I already knew I wasn't going to like Nala. She was a disrespectful as child. I was waiting on Tati to slap the hell out of Nala which she did and Nala deserved it for how she talked to her mother. Nala was spoiled, entitled, and disrespectful. Her mouth was too smart. Nala was holding on to anger because her mother wanted to give her a better and stable life. Which included getting away from her toxic and messy family and moving to Hawaii. When Nala suggested going back to her and her mother hometown for her Summer break. Tati was against it at first because she knew nothing good would come from her daughter being around their family. I knew Nala was going to get turned out and finally see everything her mother said was true. Nala went to Florida and lost her damn mind though. She barely spoke to her parents, starting drinking like a fish, and became a weed head. Her cousin Sirae was lowkey throwing shade the minute she picked Nala up from the Airport. Sirae really got jealous and it was on full display when Nala met CAP. Nala finally saw and understood what her mother was telling her. Sirae was a straight up hater. She was mad CAP didn't want her. What I didn't like was Nala ghosting her mother and father. As a man. I felt CAP should've pushed her to finish getting her education and to stay in contact with her mother and father. I didn't have any respect for him or Nala at the end.
I’m all for living your best life and being with the person who makes you happy and carefree I just pray that Nala knows what she is doing by not going to college getting pregnant by Cap and leaving her family behind especially with cap being in the music industry but sometimes you just have to take a leap of faith and do what’s best for you cause you only get one life to live Lemonica you did your thing with this book hopefully we can get more of Nala and Cap love story
This standalone is lit. Babygirl cousin is so jealous of her. I ser like mother like daughter. Ur hating cause u can't have what Babygirl got and all the men she got in rotation. U did good on yet another book and I can't wait to read more them. Sitting here patting my feet while sipping on Pepsi and while eating popcorn while waiting on the next book to read.
So I wounder what happened between Nala mom and nala’s family because nala’s mom is most definitely keeping secrets from nala and don’t want to no any of her her family. Nala cousin is giving weird vibes all of a sudden she start acting weird with Nala I hope Nala finds her dad she deserves to no her real father. And Nala step father is hiding something and cap and Nala is such a cute couple there so good together and they have a little one on the way
Oh Wow!!! Yassss sis not history lmao but um ok Cap big Cap for him boss bud **** energy all the way looovee it sad part is why yo family always gotta be the biggest Hattas love when Nala finally figure out about her cousin and I really wish her mom would’ve woke up but to each it’s own great job boo!!!
Sirae gave off weird vibes. She was jealous because she was spreading it everywhere for money & that's all pretty much had was her looks and body. Nala caught Cap's attention and held it because she wasn't impressed with nor did she need his money. Nala's parents held on too tight and once she got a taste of freedom she was out of there lol
This book was definitely something else. I don't really agree with everything that Nala did because she could have actless still kept in contact with her parents even if she decided to not go back to Hawaii. She's gone she can do what she wants but don't shout out ya mom you might need her one day. I am glad she found happiness despite the jealousy from her cuzzin.
The beginning was what really had me and the fact that Nala wanted to get to know her family after living in Hawaii. The story after the fight went a little different but I finished it
I have never read anything from this author but I’m glad I gave this book a chance her cousin was definitely a hater and her parents going to snap on her but I’m glad she living her life like she wants but I think they need a spin-off
Yeah I don’t like the ending. I hope there is more to them because ummm Naw it can’t end like that. Also it got to be a reason why yo momma stayed away. Talk to your grandmother!! Hell talk to yo bio dad before he died! Yeah. I ain’t feeling this ending
Yes ma’am you did that but I want more from cap and nala I want to see how her parents are going to take the news of her being pregnant and not coming back but you have to live your own life
That cousin was so jealous I knew something was up after that first time they went out. I liked Cap he was very mature for his age and so was Nala. They made a cute couple.
Great read especially being on the Orlando scene but I think I would’ve preferred history not repeat itself with lil cuz. Too bad her cuzn was a hater instead of keeping it real but olive was cool and it was a great short read
I'm loving on these books. I love Nala and Cap. I was so happy she got away from her parents. Her mother and step-dad were too much for me. This was a good story.
This was a pretty good book..I wasn’t ready for it to end. I need a little more. I hope to hear from these characters again. I loved Nala and Cap together.
Nala worked my nerves a little...she seemed a lot ungrateful but maybe a needed more background. But once she got to Orlando she realized what her mama was talking about.
