It Just Lacked Depth…
Winter works in a bakery and lives with her stepmother and her stepmother’s boyfriend. Her father passed 8 years ago and Winter tried to be as warm and loving as she could be to her “new family.” Sadly her stepmother and the boyfriend do not feel the same…
On a bitterly cold snowy night Winter gets home early and overheard her stepmother telling her boyfriend how they’re going to force Winter to sigh over her father’s house…but what’s worse, her stepmother plans on SELLING WINTER LIKE CATTLE!! She’s (the stepmother) so pleased with herself as well, saying how much money they’ll get for an untouched omega!
Winter escapes when they find her eavesdropping and her stepmother’s boyfriend roughs her up. She only makes it so far before before she collapses and passes out from the cold. When she thinks she’s going to die, help comes in the way of 4 handsome Alpha saviors: Jacob, Kai, Mercer, and Cole. They take Winter home with them and are immediately smitten by her…even if they do assume she’s a hooker at first. After doing some research they realize quickly how wrong they initially were…she’s not a hooker…she’s just a young beaten up girl running for her life. Soon it becomes clear that Winter is their mate and wild horses couldn’t drag any of them apart.
So about the 2 stars. I really enjoyed the book but for a few things that really I felt didn’t do “it” for me 1. The characters were really good characters but they could’ve been GREAT, but they weren’t because they lacked any real “substance.” It felt like we the reader only got “surface level”…nothing too deep or meaningful. The men were the cliche heroes, handsome, protective, alphas- that are “sensitive” and caring. But with all of this they still came off as rather “superficial.” Winter was the classic Omega in distress…the one who didn’t find a backbone until she met the guys. 2. Her evil stepmother and stepmother’s boyfriend were heinous horrible pieces of trash, planning on SELLING WINTER, but that plot goes…nowhere. Seriously Winter hears them talking, runs, gets saved by the guys, falls in love, gets the guys to help her and they go and tell the stepmother and her boyfriend off…that’s it! No retribution, no jail time…no justice, ugh!!! 3. It was just way too “tidy.” The whole book ran exactly as planned a.k.a. it was completely predictable.
So again, it was pleasant just not great.

Decent
Overall, it was a decent enough story. Quick. Cute. Low angst. The biggest problem I had, other than them being brother's, which always makes me a bit skeevy, is the timeline errors. Early on, the stepmother said she had "just turned 18 the lieu m previous year", which would make her 19. But she told the guys she was 20. Then, it was mentioned twice that she had only known the guys about 24 hours. Um, it was night when they picked her up, then it was morning. So maybe 12 hours. Timeline issues are a bit of a pet peeve of mine.

Winter has an awful stepmom who tries to sell Winter's house and her and switches out her suppressants. Winter finds out and flees into the cold and the guys (Cole, Kai and Jacob) find her. They're wealthy and own their own security company and immediately notice she's their mate. They help her through her heat and help her take down her stepmom and stepmom's partner. It's an OK book. Kinda cheesy.

I wanted to like this but I just couldn't.
It all felt surface level with the chemistry. It is an OV but it didn't read like one....no nest really...the omega left the nest during heat to go get food? I've never read an OV where one did that...she never seemed out of it from the heat...no mention of knotting really for out innocent she was...I dunno...I just didn't feel it.

You obviously didn’t read very far or attempt to read very far bc the alphas this omega ends up with doesn’t actually think she’s an escort. They make the comments about her house slippers and that she’s super inexperienced for that type of thing. That being said, the plot and story fell short and was a tad over reaching.

I have no idea how this is rated so low. “It was missing depth” has been the biggest complaint but I’ve read longer books with less care put into the characters. For a Christmas Book this was PERFECT.

It's a superficial shallow story. Her stepdamily wants to sell her off. She runs off. Gets picked up by 3 brothers. Goes into heat. They help her through it. It just lacked something. It's not a bad read just felt lacking.

I think this book moved way to fast for me to truly enjoy, it was cute and all but it was all so fast paced that I feel like we missed a lot of events.

What the heck?
This is a insta lust, fast burn book with a stupid pretense of an issue that would never fly and "hero's" who are a bunch of aholes taking advantage of a desperate girl. This is NOTHING like The Slovieg Pack series. That is a good series somehow by the same author.
