Disclaimer: spoiler(s) ahead (actually, nahiya pa akong i-summary ang lahat)

Four Is A Crowd is my personal top pick—especially as someone who’s not really into overly dreamy romances or those tooth-rotting, popsicle-sweet love stories. This one hits different. Honestly, it's also one of my favorite series.

The story follows three best friends (Shelley, Faith, and Dana) but this book isn’t just about friendship. It dives deeper, touching on betrayal, racial discrimination & the kind of drama that leaves you fuming (in the best way, ofkerz).

Everything was going fine for the trio—until Pamela showed up (the spice I didn’t knew I needed to make my reading experience more flavorful). She’s this overly glamorous, high-maintenance daughter of a celebrity who transfers to their school, and yup, the title "Four Is A Crowd" suddenly makes a perfect sense.

Things quickly spiral. Friendships are tested. There's rivalry, betrayal, bullying & a whole lot of emotional mess here and there. Pamela is so hell-bent on tearing the girls apart that it seriously affects Dana—she’s left hurt and shaken. Faith, meanwhile, is made to feel invalidated and attacked just because of her skin color—uhhh, yeah! and Shelley? She ends up blinded by Pamela’s charm—like, seriously girl?

Anyway, there’s a lot of reasons why this has been in my shelf for too long and I can’t even let this book go. Maybe because this book is just the as it is—unafraid to get messy and it surely tells a story that still hits me even until now.

It's the second year at school for Faith, Dana and Shelley. There's a new girl at the school, Pamela, who is the daughter of a Hollywood actress. She raises the level of snob to totally new heights. She's already been tossed out of various other schools and definitely considers the students at Canby to be far below her level of greatness.

She's always talking about all the actors and actresses she knows and how she's used to rich things. She's basically slumming at the school

Incidentally, we find out there are 250 girls at the school.

So the first theme is about how nasty Pamela is and how cruel she is to the other girls. There is a second theme, though, and that involves the headmistress and a mysterious man that a couple of the girls see her with. The girls spy on the headmistress to find out what is going on but that doesn't work out well for them.

A neat addition to the series.

When I was young this was one of my favorite series. My cousin's child asked me to suggest some books to her, and found this one in her library. So, we read it together. Talk about a trip down memory lane! Lots of fun!!

When I found this at a used book sale, I couldn't pass it up. My sister and I read all of the Canby Hall books when they were published. The book wasn't as bad as I expected it to be.
