How does an illegal street racer go from smiling in her mugshot to joining the greatest F1 team?
Adelaide Saito's life is nothing less than chaotic. Dead mother, illegal lifestyle, partying every night, traveling the world, spending all her cash on plane tickets and car parts. However, when nearly crashing into Oliver Popove, Alveni's team principal, in Japan, turns into her securing the number two seat on his team, that's the cherry on top. She spends her day pretending to be an F1 engineer while being the motorist who has taken the media by storm.
To add to the chaos, she is completely anonymous. While her team plans for her unavailing, she worries that the reception won't be sunshine and rainbows. In hopes of mending the hatred of the anonymous figure, she uses Richard Sinclair as her savior.
Richard Sinclair can't seem to catch a break. One bad relationship after another. The hopeless romantic just hopes to find love like the one he reads about. It isn't until a particular engineer spikes his interest. When Adelaide offers to help him get over his ex by beginning a friends-with-benefits situation, how dare he reject it?
Adelaide hopes the situation can help him slowly like her other persona, without revealing her identity. With every little attempt at getting the guy to like her anonymous self, she also finds herself becoming attached. With a strict No Relationship policy, Adelaide has to cut it off.
However, what happens when the two are forced to spend two week together, pretending they don't have any built-up tension? And what happens when Richard keeps coming very close to finding out Adelaide's truth?
(Includes a sneak-peak chapter to book three of the series.)
Richard and Adelaide. Love her name hate his but his character made up for it. He was such a golden retriever and was so emotionally mature. He genuinely understood her boundaries and never pushed her outside of her comfort zone just being what he could with what she allowed. Him not getting mad at her when she was the driver was so good and I’m happy they didn’t have a big fight. I loved the scenes in Italy and the rain scene when they confess their love. I do think the plot could have been thought out more. It jumped around a lot and missed some key things but I am excited to see Elijah in the next book and he better be fine I will not accept anything else. Also Richard remind me so much of alex Albon and his story.
Richie, the man you ARE! Holy moly what an absolute charmer! The author never misses to make the best type of book boyfriends. And he’s of course a book girlie, just like us🫶
I loved the element of Addie keeping her identity secret, it was such an interesting part of the story!
But damn, this book had some really heartbreaking scenes that had me in tears multiple times😭
This book includes tropes such as: rivals to lovers, reverse grumpy x sunshine, badass FMC, f1 driver x street driver, he falls first AND harder😳
I was lucky enough to be a part of the beta team, so I’ve provided some of my favorite comments from when I edited the book🤭
I definitely recommend this book to everyone who loves sport romance novels and especially if you loved the dirty air series by Lauren Asher.
Adelaide Saito and Richard Sinclair are the romance version of a sour patch kid: sour than sweet. This dual POV, rivals to lovers, forbidden, forced proximity romance, is to die for. Let’s not forget the romance revolves around F1! I love a grumpy x sunshine romance when the girl is the grumpy one and the guy is a hopeless romantic. Definitely a series I'll keep reading.
