Mated to the Dragon

Rate this book
Kidnapped by a gorgeous dragon shifter, I’m not sure if I should run or give in to his demands.

Five years ago, I spent a mind-shattering night with a mysterious man. He took off without sharing his name, and I couldn’t find him to tell him he left more than just me behind. Now I devote my time to work and our son, Asher. I’m not interested in romance, and I’m never falling in love again.

So when I’m walking after work one night, and a dragon (a literal dragon) grabs me, I tell him off. You’d think I’d be scared of a beast like that, but there’s something strangely appealing about him. I can’t look away.

Then he shifts . . . And it’s the guy I fell for five years ago—Asher’s father.

Gravor says he wants me, but something weird happened back then, and he doesn’t remember us being together. No matter what, he has a right to know his son.

But when I tell him, will he run from me a second time, or can we find a future together as a family?

Told in dual point of view, Mated to the Dragon is set in the shared Mated to the Monster Series. Look for Dad Bod Dragon to read Kuunik & Zara’s story.

Expect a tortured hero who has a highly creative . . . (cough), size difference, him falling fast and first, an adorable four-year-old, plus a strong woman who’ll love him forever. HEA guaranteed.

Each book in the Mate to the Monster Series is standalone; they can be read in any order.

AVA ROSS fell for men with unusual features when she first watched Star Wars, where alien creatures have gone mainstream. Quick Emotional Turns

So my biggest thing with this are the quick emotional turns. Like if you had some kind of romantic interaction with a person that scarred you enough not to date for five years even if you learned the events weren't your fault I don't believe you'd be instantly over it. And it's more than that but that's just a major example of how emotions are displayed in the story nobody has to process anything emotionally it's just all good immediately and real people don't work like that. They have to process dramatic changes in their world and viewpoints and come to terms with them mentally and emotionally. That's not happening in this story.

Also Asher the four year old is entirely unrealistic. I'd love to meet a four year old who will eat anything, has perfect manners and cries tears of joy but I think those are more fictional than dragons.

❤️ “I’m not afraid of forever. You’re all I’ll ever want or need.”
~~~
Mazie is Zara’s best friend. Not only is she a caring, dedicated and compassionate nurse, but she’s an amazing and devoted single mother to the sweetest boy, Asher. Mazie is so strong, kind, fierce and resilient. She is an incredible woman and I loved her so, so much!
Gravor is Kuunik’s twin brother. He’s charming, honorable, loyal, respectful, strong and fiercely protective. And he’s so much fun. Even more, Gravor is an incredible chef. But being held captive for years, Gravor has barely any memories of his life and has almost gone feral. Despite everything Gravor’s been through, this dragon shifter is an incredible male and I couldn’t help but adore everything about him!
I absolutely loved everything that happened between Mazie and Gravor! Five years ago, they spent a passionate night together and then Gravor disappeared. Until Mazie stumbles upon a huge and fearsome dragon… I loved Mazie and Gravor together! I loved their chemistry, the banters, the teasing and, especially, the way they talked things through, not letting the past get the best of them. Even more, I adored how awesome Gravor was with Asher. And I loved that Mazie and Gravor, together, dealt with all the new hardships thrown their way. And when they couldn’t resist the undeniable need for one another, the passionate moments they shared were so hot. Gravor and Mazie were so perfect for each other and, after everything they went through, they deserved to find a second chance, happiness and love together.
Overall, Mated to the Dragon is a fun, sweet, suspenseful and naughty story and I absolutely loved every page of it!
P.S. The epilogue made me tear up in the best way!
P.S.S. If you want to learn more about Zara and Kuunik, read Dad Bod Dragon by Ava Ross.
Mazie and Gravor
This is a standalone romance set in the Mated to the Monster world, and loosely related to some of the author’s other books, in fact we first met Mazie (and Gravor) in Dad Bod Dragon, but it’s not necessary to have read that book first.
Mazie and Gravor shared a night together five years ago, which resulted in Mazie’s son Asher. When she never saw Gravor again, she assumed he wasn’t interested, but now she realises that isn’t the case.
Gravor’s memory is fractured from the ill-treatment and torture he experienced at the hands of some crazy people. He recognises Mazie is his mate, but he can’t remember the past very well…
This is an enjoyable second chance romance. Gravor has had some terrible experiences, and is just beginning to recover - alas much of his revenge occurred off page, and I know more than a few of us would wish we could have seen it after learning what happened. Fortunately he has the love of a good woman to help him through it; and what’s more, Mazie is tough and resourceful.
This is a short and sweet story, with a little spice and a number of tender moments. It’s an entertaining read for the monster romance lover, as well as the PNR lover. I have to add I did enjoy the mid-book shoutout to Kuunik and Zara’s story, it made me laugh.
Maxie is rocking the single mom life with five year old Asher. She is a nurse who works a job she loves. She owns her own small two bedroom cottage. Plus she has an amazing mother who helps with childcare slumber parties.
Gravor has been presumed dead for five years now. But his brother hasn’t given up hope.
Being held for five years is one thing. But to be kept from one’s fated mate is a huge deal. When he finds her again it’s like no time has passed.
These two had a great dance that involved navigating with a five year old Asher. They made everything work without much of any issues. Plus when they arise they deal with them together or just with the full support of the other.
Don’t get me wrong there is some suspense and danger going on in this book too. You can’t just have a mushy HEA without some drama lol. And Ava definitely delivers it with this book. Thank god I read Dad Bod Dragon first or I would be a bit confused.
The story was fine, but had some issues.
Mazie forgiven him much too soon. I get it that it wasn't his fault that he basically ghosted her, but she should take a bit longer time of processing that than few sentences. Peoples emotions take longer to settle than that ;) Gravor was great, I liked his character, he was damaged by his past, but he loved Mazie and their little boy basically from the get go, and they made him feel whole again.
There was a little inconsistency, Mazie's mother knew he was Kuunik's brother, yet she asked him what kind of shifter he was. She knew Kuunik was a dragon though.
The thing with their true names didn't make much sense. If they have secret dragon names, why do they have such unusual official names? I thought their names were so unusual, because they were dragon shifters, but it wasn't the case.
Also twin shifter dragons and both of them have surprise children from one night stands. That took me out a bit of the story.
4-14-24 Mated to the Dragon by Ava Ross
5 years ago they met, connected and the next morning Gravor disappeared. They didn't exchange names so she couldn't track him down to tell him their news. Now Mazie is raising their son Asher alone.
Gravor was held captive and experimented on, horrifically. When he finally escaped, his dragon kept him in dragon form most of the time so he could heal. For five years.
Mazie is out walking one night when a dragon lands hear her. She hears 'Mate' in her mind. Gravor has followed her scent, lands near her and reverts to his human form. Memory loss causes confusion for both. This story is a slow burn romance, filled with plot twists, danger, discovery and steam. All around a wonderful tale.
Eh. The secret baby thing seemed almost funny when she tells you about her best friend currently married to a dragon shifter who ALSO had a secret baby.
Lots of behavior that just doesn't make sense. Like how his brother and him were so so close and connected but he doesn't go to him or immediately call him when he knows how. He even forgets to talk to him for the first time until the next day.
And her mom is all 'you're that dragon shifters twin.' and then immediately 'are you a shifter too? What kind?'
Lady you just said his twin is a dragon shifter...
The 4 year old doesn't talk like a 4 year old in any way. And they wait a month to tell him? Why??
Anyways just not for me. The seeming insignificant conflict wrapped itself up in like 3 pages at the very end.
Where to begin...this book gave me all of the feels! I mean it's not everyday that a Shifter Romance has me in tears but Gravor and Mazie did. I also laughed and I swooned just a bit too. I also read Mated To The Dragon straight through without a break, once I started it I couldn't stop! It is so well written.  The characters are wonderful! I wanted to tuck Gravor in my pocket to keep him safe and I want Mazie as my bestfriend! And I adored Asher! The world building is so well done I want to live there. But as always it's the story where Ava Ross really shines! The story grabbed me from the first word and I didn't want it to end.
Mated to the Dragon: Mated to the Monster
One special night together and he disappeared. One special night which came with a surprise package 9 months later. After five years he came back after being held captive and tortured. But he still scented his mate and it was her from 5 years ago. She took him in, he got his memory back and reconnected with his brother. Best of all, he got to know his son. Once he got rid of the danger to his family, they got their HEA and he got to be a daddy.
This for me was a sadder, more emotional story than the usual ones from Ava. That is not to say that it was all doom and gloom but it just came across this way to me. These two had had a lot of pain and it was palpable. Their beautiful romance shone through though and you read with your fingers crossed and baited breath that they make it. I would have liked a little more consequence for the actions of some people but I suppose I am being a bit blood-thirsty on that count. Really touched my heart.
Love Ava Ross’s books. Maizie had a one night stand with a man five years, thinking he might be the one, but he disappeared, and she finds herself pregnant and raising a little boy on her own. Five years pass. One night a dragon falls to the sky and transforms into the man who is her son’s father! He doesn’t remember her, though, as he’d been kidnapped, imprisoned and tortured for years. Now the two have a chance to rekindle their relationship and introduce Gravor to his son…if the lone survivor of the commune than held him doesn’t get in the way!
Wow, this is such a sweet, emotional love story. Amazing vibes run through your body, mind, and soul.
Gravor and Mazie are wonderful characters who were always meant to be together. Emotions run high for what they both endured. Both felt guilty when neither one was to blame.
My heart ached for the suffering that Gravor was subjected to. I'm not ashamed to say there are definitely weepy moments
Ava really rocked this one. A quick, easy read with a very, very HEA 💜
This was a wonderful romance for Mazie and Gravor. These two connected in a steamy one-night encounter and then Gravor took off. Well, Mazie is now working hard for herself and her son until she gets kidnapped by an actual dragon! When he shifts, she gets the shock of her life on more than one level.... I loved the chemistry between them and how they dealt with the challenges that they faced. This really was a sweet and emotional reading ride with drama, danger and heat :D
Mated to the Dragon is the first book in the Mated to Monsters series. This is a standalone book but I recommend reading Dad Bod Dragon to get the full story of the brothers Gravor and Kuunik and their mates Mazie and Zara. I enjoyed reading this fast paced small town, second chance, Dragon shifter, found family romance. It has suspense and slow burn spicy scenes. I liked this book over Dad Bod Dragon. Overall I recommend this HEA book.
Mazie & Gravor spent a magical night but then he disappeared. Poor Mazie soon discovered she was pregnant and five years later she spots Gravor. Only Gravor doesn't recognise her. Gradually his memory returns but his Dragon knows Mazie's his mate. Gracie is thrilled he has a son but a danger from the past shows up. Things get scary but the little family is finally whole! Lots of action and romance.
no
The writing is so bad, the chemistry is non-existent and the instalove is insane.
He literally just says mate and picks her up, kidnapping her momentarily. I kept reading to see if it would get better but it was just so flat and generic. I felt nothing but annoyance. Plus the author plugged her other book in this book, having the townsfolk talk about the book and even gave the exact author/title of book. Made it feel like a slimy marketing ploy.
Mated to the Dragon by Ava Ross is a steamy dragon shifter novel with a HEA. This story has so much heart and heartbreak, mystery, humor and steam. We met Mazie and (sort of) Gravor in Dad Bod Dragon and if any characters deserve their happily ever after, it is them! They are so wonderful together and their son is such a sweetie! Highly recommend this sweet, steamy, feel good romance.
Sweet & Sexy
Never start an Ava Ross book before bed! I couldn’t put it down, it was that entertaining. I loved how quickly Maisie forgave her one night stand and how willing she was to help him in any way she could. Their romance was about forgiveness, redemption and second chances. I loved it.
Gravor and Maize
Gravor is a dragon shifter who has been held captive and tortured for years. He escaped and thought he eliminated everyone. Maize has a son from her one night with Gravor before he disappeared. But he is back and hoping they can start again. It was a really good story.
After “meeting” Mazie & Gravor in Dad Bod Dragon, I was super excited to read their own story… and Ava Ross did not disappoint. This was such a sweet story. Loved the little reunion and the way each character handled it. Also, loved how Ava plugged her previous book in this one. Couldn’t help but laugh at that. I highly recommend reading both of these books! A thrilling adventure… from beginning to end. A strong hero… even stronger heroine… and a beautiful and sweet little boy… makes this the perfect little monster romance!
This is a sequel to the Dad Bod Dragon but a standalone. My heart goes out to our tortured hero, but I am glad he can finally have the happiness he was deprived of. Though they were fated mates, we get to see the reason why our FMC fell in love with our Dragon.
This book was an entertaining read. It was a good addition to this series. I liked the characters but parts of it felt a little awkward. Can’t really put my finger on why but overall it was a nice read.
great short story
Lovely follow up story of second chances and reunions. It was a perfect night read with low to medium angst, steam (bit of spice) and not drolling on about bits you don’t need to know about 😂 It’s like a hallmark movie, but without the cheese
