re·gres·sion: return to a former or less developed state
16 years have passed since the Battle of Hogwarts and the Wizarding world has gained some semblance of peace.
Draco Malfoy is no longer the hot-headed boy he was during the war, but has matured and faced his dark past. However, Draco's growth is tested when occult-like murders rock the DMLE and he is asked to return to England to assist in solving them.
Hermione Granger is still haunted by the ghosts of her past. She works for the DMLE as a rune and ward specialist, but she harbors resentment towards the Ministry of Magic for its lack of progress following Voldemort's defeat.
What happens when Draco and Hermione are assigned as partners to solve the murders? Will they be able to place their differences aside and catch the culprit before another Dark Lord emerges?
Had high hopes for this, but sadly turned out to be an infantile mess of info dumping and telling. Draco and Hermione behaving like teenagers, five pages of pointless inner monologues where could have been one, just couldn’t finish it.
3.5 - I enjoyed the progression of the relationship between Draco and Hermione, and wish I'd had more Crookshanks and Draco interaction. The mystery was pretty well sustained but something felt wanting.
DNF I lost interest in the plot, there is nothing I hate more than a characterization of adult characters acting like teenagers, and that the relationship does not advance due to lack of communication 🙄
Took away a star because 17 out of 25 times someone was wearing a specific color it was navy. This author is obsessed with Navy. I searched the word and 17 times! Why was EVERYONE constantly wearing navy!?
