Celeste is one of only a hundred remaining humans on Earth, living on a secured preserve away from the many dangerous monsters out in the world. But some monsters desperately want human companions—and they’ll abide by all the strict rules and requirements to get one. Celeste has applications piling up from those who want to court her, but she’s afraid of taking the leap... until Theo.
Theo the minotaur is shy, gentle, and kind, and wants nothing more than a human wife to spoil. When Celeste agrees to move in and start a trial marriage, he’ll do anything in his power to keep her happy and safe in a world where a human might make a great meal for another monster.
The only problem? Theo is huge in more than one way—and he knows Celeste isn’t ready for him yet. It will take trust and time to prepare her as they start to build their new life together, and it might just lead to falling in love.
Lyonne Riley writes super steamy monster romance, fantasy romance, and sci-fi romance. She lives in the middle of nowhere with her spouse and two dogs, writing spicy fairy tales.
Take a minotaur romance and remove all of the excitement out of it. Then you get My Minotaur Husband.
I don't know what I was expecting, but a boring romance where a human meets a blue collar minotaur and they walk dogs, plant a garden, go food shopping, and have (relatively speaking) bland sex isn't it. This could literally be a contemporary romance if the MC wasn't a hairy minotaur. Even his huge *ehem* equipment isn't enough to save this one.
At this point, I trust Lyonne with my entire fictional life!! This was such a sweet and swoony story, I can’t even stand it 😭
Celeste is so hopeful and eager to love and be loved, and Theo…oh my precious Theo!! He is big and broody, humble, shy, but a careful and generous lover. He just wants someone he can love and spoil, and I just wanna reach through the pages and give him a big hug! He’s also a metal head which is just the cherry on top!
In this world that Lyonne has created, humans are the endangered species, and Celeste has been confined to the Preserve where humans live safely away from monstrous threats. But, with the help of a matching service aimed to help humans find potential partners outside of the Preserve, she sifts through applicants until finding Theo’s. They match and go on several dates while they get to know each other, and Theo invites her to move in with him for a trial marriage, which eventually turns into the real deal!
There is no conflict or third act breakup. It’s just a beautiful and sweet story of a human and a Minotaur falling in love, and I absolutely adored it! Highly recommend!
First ARC of the year! And this one is setting the bar UP THERE. 😍
Theo is incredible — top 10 Book Boyfriend material, easily. He’s thoughtful, he’s kind, he wants to spoil his little human and not just in a sugar daddy way; he wants her to be genuinely happy, wants her to experience the world and love her life. Wants to cultivate a future with her! And his shy demeanor at first? It’s so endearing!! And the way he has so much care and forethought in the bedroom? Where can I find me one, please and thank you!
I *LOVE* the use of sex toys, seriously this is an extremely underutilized aspect of romance (especially in monster romance) and I applaud Lyonne Riley for using them and making them as sexy and fun as she did. I would love to see more of this in her work and in other author’s work in the future.
The only thing I didn’t really like was (minor spoiler) I know that the world is dangerous (which I kinda liked way more than I thought I would) but c'mon.
The rest of it though was so cozy and sweet and lovely. I really enjoyed the read and I will absolutely be adding it to my shortlist of low-angst, sweet, and spicy romance recommendations. I will also be bumping up Lyonne’s other work on my TBR because I really enjoyed her easy, smooth writing style that made me lose track of time and mellow out.
As a monster romance reader, I have discovered that I have an attraction to a wide array of different monsters. This isn’t even my first Minotaur romance but for some reason, the way that Theo was described in this book had me hot and bothered… Minotaur dad bods never sounded so sexy.
I keep saying this because I am truly baffled Every. Time. WHAT kind of additive is in these books?!!? Honestly, just the description of Theo walking through the door was all the foreplay I needed. Just read this:
“Oh, he’s tall. He has to tilt his head to fit his curved horns through the doorway. He wears a tight-fitting white t-shirt over his huge chest, clearly outlining each of his rounded pectorals and thick, sturdy belly. I can tell there’s solid muscle under there, even if it’s not as defined… This isn’t a body built in a gym, but by hard labor. He’s got on a pair of casual jeans, which look tailored to fit around his anatomy. He has a tail with a puff of fur at the tip, and big, thick thighs with high hocks and dusty hooves.“
This cinnamon roll MMC was just the perfect blend of shy and sweet, without being too soft. Celeste is a little jumpy but still brave and curious. I can just feel her child-like wonder about the world as she and Theo progress. And the SPICE- he has to “prepare” her for him because their size difference 🥵
I absolutely loved this story and I need more from this new universe. I want Rob’s story, hell, I’ll even take Doug’s. If Lyonne writes it, I might find myself into Zombies, idk.
In a world of monsters where humans are a rare and highly demanded commodity, Celeste receives a companionship application from a sweet and shy construction worker minotaur named Theo who claims he’s looking for someone to spoil.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5
Another masterpiece from Lyonne Riley! This book perfectly merges fluffy romance with lovely spice. Even though this story is very slice of life, I never found myself bored or wanting to rush through the small moments. It’s a sweet and enjoyable relaxing romance. I adore the way Theo dotes on Celeste, answering her every need with affection and care. And this spice is SPICY! Holy cow (pun intended), this couple had me both giggling and blushing. Highly recommend checking this one out when it releases January 12th!
Thank you so much to the author for an advanced copy!
Wow 😭 Lyonne… omg. You nailed this. This is my most favorite Minotaur book yet. Theo is so sweet and caring and just amazing. Celeste is so relatable and a truly lovable FMC. Every single line was perfection. The quotes, the feels, the characters, the romance, the spice… wow. I’m blown away. Celestial grows up in a reserve where she is one of the few humans left. Monsters of all kinds can submit applications to date and marry one of these humans. Celeste didn’t look much into dating until she comes across Theo’s application. From date one sparks fly (but not just outright, there’s such good build up and initial doubt, some lust, some fear… it’s delicious and heartwarming) Theo just wants someone to spoil and he knows Celeste is the one from the beginning. Lyonne could have made this 1000 pages and I still would have devoured it. I need more Theo and Celeste. Please please please please.
Listen, I googled “Minotaur” to freshen the image in my head. So…what in the snout was she kissing??? I kept waiting for a moo (even tho it’s not a cow). And ya, it’s unfair of me to just now rlly register this considering I shamelessly enjoyed ‘Morning Glory Milking Farm’ but I’m also just a girl. Don’t expect things of me. Ever. 🐂🐂🐂🐂🐂🐂🐂
Pretty mediocre tbh. I mildly enjoyed it for the low angst, cozy, and spicy vibes. But the insta-everything, fast pacing, and some of the dialogue (at least via audio) was subpar. But then again it was exactly what I expected/wanted: interesting enough, easy to listen, decent spice 👌.
🎧[Side note]:ehh the audio was making me cringe hard asf!!! not the narrators per se but the spice n stuff via audio was not the moves 👎(def a ME thing! bc usually it’s on 2x speed or higher tho even when I DON’T have it sped up, hearing it gives me the ick idk) ——————————— INFO: cozy, short, low angst, insta lust, married life, sweet, fast paced

Loved this one and can't wait to have more from this world! So many warm fuzzies but SO MUCH SPICE. Lyonne really ramped up the fire in this one. I loved that Theo was so supportive and was totally ok with not jumping right into the monster peen. The only thing that I didn't really care for in the spice scenes was the use of the words "juicy" and "juices". Those are words I just....never want to hear when it comes to happy fun times.
Theo was the perfect awkward, cinnamon roll monster. 💖
It was cute. I was just so bored. I felt nothing for either of them. Maybe I'll circle back when I'm back into mf (Minotaur female hehe) bc that dildo stretching business was pretty dang hot.
There were only a few things I didn’t like/care for:
- He called her ‘sweetheart’. I don’t like that only because my parents call me that, and it felt weird reading it. - It could be cringy at times - The remaining humans live in a secure area called New Eden. It was mentioned that the h slept with a few of the other humans, which I don’t mind, but what I do mind is she was still friends with one of the guys. He was dating some other monster now (didn’t sound serious), but if the H did this, I know I would hate it. It’s not a big deal, just something that made me think. - I think I would have liked this better if we got Theo’s POV, but it would probably just be him gushing about how much he loves Celeste 🤷♀
Single 1st person POV (h) Light gore/violence No ow/om drama No cheating No virgins (no manwhore) Open door spice Toys No third-act breakup Epilogue (their honeymoon) HEA (more like HFN)
This was flip-flopping adorable!! I love all the sci-fi /paranormal romance I’ve been reading lately. I didn’t know I needed to read about a Minotaur and a human falling in love and having a proper slow burn romance.
This was an online dating profile romance turned into so much more. In the beginning you think our FMC Celeste is going to give up because the sparks aren’t instant. However, at the end of the date our MMC Theo redeems himself.
Celeste learns that Theo is just a bit shy. He might be a bit closed off but that’s okay. When the sparks definitely begins to fly they can barely contain themselves this hot and sexy little romance features it all. Edging, toy play, stretching, a little fur play and more if you’re willing to look 😉!!
I thought this book was pretty cute. It was super cozy with quite a bit of spice. Theo was a shy guy Minotaur and Celeste was a blunt-ish human who decided to meet him as a potential husband. The characters had good chemistry and the world was interesting. I liked that there was a build up to full sex because of the size difference. The world was unique; a world where humans are almost extinct and live on a reserve protected from monsters who often want to eat them. It was surprising how cozy it turned out to be with such a threatening world. Most of the monsters lived a pretty standard suburban life. The story dragged a bit at the beginning, but picked up after about 20 pages.
This was my first read by this author and overall I really enjoyed it. Theo is literally perfection. He was so sweet and caring, he truly did just want to spoil Celeste. My only complaint was the amount of times Celeste complained about getting mauled by other monsters in public. I understood the concern, but I felt like it was mentioned every other page and became a bit excessive.
4⭐️ 2.5🔥
I received an eARC in exchange for my honest review.
Not sure how this ended up on my radar (REALLY) but I absolutely enjoyed this book! I was vaguely aware of the "monster f**ker" genre, but now I know about "cinnamon roll" and the whole subgenre of specifically minotaur spicy romance. Truly, there are whole worlds of literature that would not normally touch me. Anyhow---in this book humans are an endangered species and live on a preserve, while all manner of monsters live in the rest of the world. The monsters have "normal human" lives, like going to the movies and the farmer's market (and working in construction and living in the suburbs. Some monsters still want to kill and eat humans though, which is why they live on the preserve. There is a matchmaking service which pairs eligible monsters with humans, which is how Celeste ends up going on a date with minotaur Theo. They hit it off even though he is shy and loves death metal. The story of their romance definitely qualifies as "cozy", though it is also extremely spicy. Celeste is pretty obsessed with Theo's monster anatomy and there are lots of very firey scenes that made me blush listening to it on my walk to work. I devoured this book quickly, and I might very well take a look at some of this author's monster romance for fun.
“My Minotaur Husband” by Lyonne Riley is basically the equivalent of a hot cup of cocoa... with a monster dick-shaped marshmallow floating in it. 😏
This book is soft, sweet, and unapologetically fluffy—with a shy, doting, massive Minotaur named Theo who just wants a human wife to spoil and love forever. And Celeste? She’s one of the last hundred humans on Earth, trying to decide if she's ready to give a gentle Minotaur a chance. 🥰
I'm a sucker for gentle giants who can wreck you in bed but treat you like you're made of spun sugar. And Theo is the perfect combo of "let me cradle you like a baby" and "let me split you in half once you're ready". 😌💀
Theo is all about consent, care, and stretching her out slowly with toys and patience before bringing out the big guns (literally). The size kink and prep are definitely part of the plot, so if you like some build-up with your monster peen, you're in for a treat. 🍆💦
Also-this whole "trial marriage" thing? It's all about soft bonding, slow build-up, hella domestic vibes, and monster dick on standby like some forbidden dessert. 😍🥵
What I loved: 🖤 Theo’s shy awkwardness and tender loving care. 🖤 The cozy domestic vibes and trial marriage dynamic. 🖤 Sweet slow-burn kisses and emotionally clingy smut. 🖤 All the "you're mine forever" energy wrapped in soft fur and Minotaur muscles.
If you’re looking for a low-angst, high-sweetness palate cleanser or just wanna be gently rocked to sleep by Minotaur cuddles, this one is for you. 🤗💞
It’s the perfect lil breather between heavier reads. And let's be honest—Theo might just make you wanna fill out a monster husband application yourself. 😌
- Quotes:
“That’s what I asked for, isn’t it?” he says, gently guiding me to a table with a hand at my lower back. “Someone I could spoil?”
That is true, and it’s one of the reasons I chose him. I wanted to feel cared for in whatever relationship I have. “Yes, you did,” I admit.
“Then that’s what I’m going to do,” he says firmly. “For as long as you’ll let me.” - “You took the toy wonderfully,” he says, petting my hair and nuzzling my head with his big muzzle. “When you’re used to it, we’ll try the bigger toy, and see how you accept that.” - “You want to marry me?” I reach up to wipe my face as tears have already started streaming down. How come I always cry around Theo? Knowing he feels the same way about me fills my heart to the brim, and I’m spilling over the top. “Really?”
He pulls me closer. “Oh, sweetheart. Of course I do. I want you to plant your garden. Cook meals with me. Sleep next to me every night. I want to take care of you forever.” - “You’re so beautiful, sweetheart,” he tells me, kissing my forehead as we take in the sight of ourselves in the mirrors. With his huge hand, he slides me down on his cock even further, and I moan as it sinks in deep. I pull my minotaur close, wrapping my arms tight around his neck. He brushes some stray hair from my face. “You take me so well.” -

The fact that I have to spend $2.99 on this book, and waste my time reading it… dear lord. This was the spicy choice for book club and boy was it something. This book is not good, the writing was so cringy and the story was awkward. The worst part of this book wasn’t even the fact that a human and a Minotaur were trying to hook up- it was the complete lack of conflict and plot. I’ve read book where I’m like “omg stop all the conflict I just want them to be happy”. This book I was like “dear god, some monster should attack her to get some depth in this book”.
Interested to discuss this at our next book club- but 10/10 would NOT recommend.
I frickin’ LOVED this book! Lyonne Riley is quickly becoming a must read author for me!
Theo is just the most adorable MMC, I love everything about him. Definitely added to my list of top book boyfriends! 😍
This was a fast paced monster romance, with great character development & good introduction to the Stories from New Eden world.
The only thing I would have liked, is for this to have been in multi POV. I would have loved to read from Theo’s perspective too, what goes through his mind etc, but otherwise I still enjoyed this book so so much.
I cannot wait for the second book in the series! 🩷
This book was so good. It was a sweet, fun, fast read. Dont ask questions, just read this book!!!!
If you think a Minotaur can’t be a cinnamon roll, this book will prove you wrong.
And the spice!!!! The way Theo had to prep her for him 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵💦💦💦💦💦💦 it was the hottest slow burn I’ve maybe ever read. Like I want MORE of this!!!!! I loved this book so much I bought a physical copy so I could have it in my hands and reread it whenever I want.
Well, sometimes you read a really disturbing nonfiction book about white Christian nationalism and then you need to read something goofy to recover from it. I think this was my first monster romance, and I'm not sure it's the genre for me!
I wasn't sure what to expect with this book because I see good things said about Lyonne Riley's writing but it's an awkward length at 140 pages - not super short but not quite full length either. Ultimately I do feel like there could have been a bit more in here to help develop the feelings a bit early on - namely a few more dates before they move in together and seeing the relationship start to blossom and form.
In any case, besides that, I liked it a lot. I felt like it was stronger at the end than in the beginning because once it rushes in to them living together, the pace felt better. They spend more time together, get to know each other, and their feelings develop. Nice. I also liked the spice content and it felt realistic and wholesome, very sweet. I loved that they had great open and honest communication in and out of the bedroom.
There's a couple funny bits here and there that I enjoyed, as well, like mentioning one of Theo's coworkers is a reanimated corpse named Doug. Then later, mentioning that "Doug is the only wild card, but Theo assures me he’s had his need for devouring brains under control for five years." like it's an addiction. I really liked the hints of worldbuilding and would love to see more of this universe.
There were a couple minor hiccups where it felt like things were mentioned out of the blue or people suddenly in different places.
A new series from Lyonne Riley! I have been anticipating this book for a while and even preordered it!
In a world where humans are rare and monsters are plenty, what remains of humanity lives in a place called 'New Eden' where they can live without fear of monster... or marry one! This book focuses on the love story between human Celeste and Theo the minotaur.
The Good I really loved this story! I was a cozy love story as we get to see Celeste and Theo break out of their cells and fall for each other. It was incredibly heart-warming and sickeningly sweet. That paired nicely with the great spice that went along with it.
Tropes: — Cinnamon roll MMC — Minotaur/Human — Size Difference
Horn Level: 5/5🌶️ Format: ebook
The Rating I give this book a 4/5🌟 rating. This was such a sweet book and I look forward to more books in this series! It's such a fun concept!!
4⭐️ This book was just the cutest coziest little monster romance. There was no serious external conflict. Even though there was no conflict, I wasn’t bored. Someone else could easily find it boring but I just enjoyed the listen. It was VERY spicy and the spice was really quite good. No high stakes, just a sweet couple getting used to sweet couple things. There is a mention of gore but I’d hardly call it gore. This was short and sweet and dare I say delicious.
