Sylvia Earle is one of my sheroes -- she's a marine biologist, aquanaut, spent like a month living UNDERWATER in an ocean lab in the Gulf of Mexico, and created "Hope Spots" which are like rainforests for the ocean. She's amazing, this book is beautiful and wonderful.

Favorite book sitting on our coffee table! Breathtaking photos, inspiring quotes, & education from research by the incredible marine biologist Sylvia Earle. Learned a lot I didn’t know about the oceans. She shares her insight & knowledge about the importance for humanity to do all we can to save & protect the Earth’s blue heart - the Ocean.

Literally a beautiful book it is filled with stunning ocean photographs. It is also a reminder that the oceans are in crisis and now is the time and ours is the responsibility to do something about it. Earle does a very good job of being frank but hopeful. The negative and the hopeful facts are interesting, articulate and well presented. I genuinely enjoyed reading this book as much as I did looking at it and I don’t say that often about coffee table books. Must be read in the big hardcover edition to be appreciated.

I deeply admire Sylvia Earle. She is one of my heroes and has done more for ocean conservation that possibly anyone on earth. Her career exploring & studying the oceans, and work to create ever expanding areas of protected ocean inspires me as a scuba diver, an ocean lover, an environmentalist, and a woman.

A beautiful book by a veteran marine scientist and Time magazine's first Hero of the Planet. I really enjoyed her personal narrative, inspiring quotes by various authors, and the absolutely exquisite photographs of ocean life. This is a work with an excellent message by a woman that I greatly admire. In her words, " No ocean, no life. No blue, no green. ...The ocean matters to everyone, everywhere."
