The Healing Journey of Pet Loss: A Guide to Healing Your Heartbreak & Grief From the Loss of Your Pet Companion

Rate this book
From Grief to Grace – Discover the path to healing after losing your beloved pet.Grief isn’t just about the physical absence of your pet.

It’s about the immense void they leave behind.

It's about waking up to a world that’s suddenly missing a hundred little things you loved, and didn’t realize how much you needed until they were gone.

It’s the absence of ecstatic greetings – the chorus of barks or meows that welcomed your return. It’s about coming to a house that feels too silent, too empty.

It’s finding yourself longing for the familiar sound of their paws, the soft tap-tap-tap against your hardwood floor.

It’s the cold reality of no longer feeling the playful nudge of their wet nose against your hand, their silent way of saying, “Hey, I’m here. Mind me, please.” Oh, how you’d give anything to experience that just one more time.

Losing a pet is like losing a piece of your heart.

Words fail to capture the depth of this pain and the emptiness that now fills your days.

A very healing and emotional read.
I think it helped me to pace myself through a couple chapters at a time. There were some I skimmed over as they didn't really apply to me, but as a whole this book has allowed me to start to heal. I especially found the writing exercises at the end of each chapter to be extremely helpful. It let me put my grief down on paper and allowed me to get my inner thoughts out, even if I wasn't sharing them with someone.
I also found the author's personal story of her dog, Bullet, to be very compelling. I know exactly what it is like to lose a pet too soon, as both of our dogs suffered from the same illness/condition. This made her story chapters a little difficult to read but I was able to push through.
Thank you, Ruby Woods, for sharing your story and allowing me to begin to pick up the pieces of my broken heart.

help for the hurting

I found this book to be a great resource for anyone grieving the loss of a beloved pet. So many times we hear clueless individuals tell us “it’s only a dog”. I could never decide if I should feel sorry for them or strangle them. This author gets it. The pain of loss is real and HARD! I think this is a must have for that difficult time we all hate to see coming.

Sweet idea for a book

It’s often overlooked, the bonds we have with our pets. They’re truly members of our family and it’s great to see that others are appreciating these relationships and the impact that loss can have on our lives.
